Taking the Mafia to the Magic World

Chapter 1120: Companions Reunited

Vicente came face to face with Lyra within minutes of his arrival at the Valley of Shadows.

At long last, freed from the physical and spiritual bonds that had held her captive—rendering her powerless to rebel or flee. But unlike the raging fury and bloodlust that Larissa had exhibited, Lyra bore a calm and measured expression. Her experience and deep wisdom granted her a rationality that shone in this moment of liberation.

Glancing between Vicente and the leaders of the Valley, she understood the advantage she now held over the locals.

With a soft, genuine smile, she stepped forward and said, ”Thank you for rescuing me. I never thought I’d see you again after that day.”

Vicente nodded in agreement. He had also imagined that his companions might lose faith in his return. Yet such doubts wouldn’t hurt him. He had been taken to Hell after being attacked by someone from Argardus. Such a thing would be the natural thing to expect!

”I tried to return earlier, but my situation wasn’t exactly the best,” he replied.

”I can imagine,” Lyra said, her voice carrying both gratitude and a trace of bitterness, relieved that he was here now and no longer mired in the uncertainty of local slavery.

Though she had endured her own suffering, it had not been as torturous as Larissa’s, and over the months in captivity she had safeguarded enough inner strength to process and adapt rather than break down completely. The seal that had bound her to the sect had left scars in her memory, but she bore them with a stoic resolve, unwilling to assign blame to Vicente for the delay that had kept them apart for so long.

Yet, as she surveyed the scene—her eyes meeting those of the elders clustered around Vicente—a steely determination took form. ”Vice,” she began, her voice low but sharp, ”I’m not interested in meddling in your affairs further, but there are those here who must answer for what happened to me. I’m not calling for death, but they need to suffer their punishment.”

Her words cut through the charged air like blades aimed at the vulnerable points of each Sorcerer present. A shiver ran through the gathered members as they looked at Vicente in awe and dread.

They had sought to distance themselves from any ramifications related to the slavery of this elf, but now the issue was thrust into the open. In that moment, they all knew that should Lyra demand retribution, Vicente would carry out her will with the utmost rigor!

One of the elders was quick and said, ”Young lady, this one is called Milon. Don’t worry—we’ll bring in all those responsible for your unjust situation and make them available for the Senior to deal with as he wishes. Just give us a few more minutes and they’ll all be brought here.”

Lyra found the subservience of these individuals strange and finally realizing Vicente’s current level. She instantly dropped the subject by asking. ”You’re already at the 9th stage? How?”

This was the same question Larissa had asked herself before receiving her crown.

”Maybe I’ll tell you about it later.” Vicente smiled mysteriously, already anticipating the arrival of the group of sacrifices that those old experts had quickly chosen to restart this force’s relationship with him. ”Now you must focus on choosing how to take revenge on those who caused you pain. No matter who they are or their level, I assure you that you will get what your heart yearns for, Lyra.”

Once again, the old elders in that labor area of their strength, where magical items were produced by slaves in droves for trade on the island, trembled in fear for their lives. But when the selected sacrifices arrived there a minute later, Lyra would choose only those who had had contact with her during her months there, leaving aside the strongest figures who had never contacted her.

Lyra was experienced and saw through not only the behavior of the locals, but also of Vicente. The fact that these old Sorcerers were still standing said a lot about their savior’s intentions.

Larissa, however, couldn’t help but ask as she watched Lyra begin her revenge, ”Vicente, what do you intend to do with this sect?”

Vicente assisted Lyra with his powers, helping to strengthen the elf and weaken her enemies while she crippled and tortured locals, causing screams of pain to break out from the middle of the production zone. The various slaves in the vicinity watched the situation unfold with smiles on their faces, having been freed from their slave seals by Vice’s order.

Meanwhile, the elders and other mid-level to high-level members of the sect watched on in a cold sweat, seeing old friends, disciples, or new promises for the future of the Valley of Shadows destroyed right in front of them, without being able to do anything about it.

”Let’s wait for news of Rex. I’ll make up my mind right away.” He answered her in a low voice, his face expressing a disturbing satisfaction to the onlookers in the surroundings. ”They won’t be long. Sorcerers are really fast.”

Before Lyra had even finished her revenge on the group of slave caretakers responsible for the sector she had been assigned to, the Sorcerers who had left minutes ago returned, one of them carrying a golden-haired quadruped animal.

Worse off than Lyra, Rex had some injuries, with non-relevant parts of his body missing, such as his tail, an ear and various internal signs of combat, with fractured bones and hemorrhages.

Vicente used his electromagnetic power of cardiological control to help stimulate his friend’s regeneration while questioning the leaders of this force. ”How did he end up in this situation?”

The woman behind the Valley of Shadows replied quickly, ”Some incompetent assigned him to take part in the sect’s carrier groups. He must have suffered those injuries fighting on the island’s roads.”

Rex was already very strong, a mid-level Grand Magus Flaming Lion. But on the Inviting Isles, he was only just above the starting level of the local experts. There were many hundreds of creatures stronger than him around the island that could easily hurt him much more than he was hurt now.

Rex let Vicente help him before telling his master everything a minute after the locals had given their version.

”Master, those bastards treated me like a pack mule! I was forced to travel through dangerous regions and didn’t have the chance to protect myself because of the damned slave seal! Because of that, I was used as a living shield several times!” He said in a wronged tone, naturally much angrier than Lyra.

”Oh? Who did that?” Vicente asked as he narrowed his eyes, becoming more serious as the darkness of the valley raised the pressure on the living beings not only in the building he was in, but throughout the headquarters.

Vicente had a connection with Rex because of their master-beast connection. After asking his question, he saw the appearances of those directly causing Rex’s suffering.

Vicente sensed the presence of 80% of them in the headquarters at that moment and issued his next orders. ”Very well. Bring to me those whom your minds are seeing right now. I will define the fate of the valley when you return.”

The woman leading the resolution of the problem with Vicente was about to leave again with some of her companions when Vice said, ”Oh, and don’t try to run away. Your souls are ready to serve me here or in the underworld, dead or alive.”

They left a moment later, certain that the freedom they had previously enjoyed was over and now the best fate left for them was to face the reality of being slaves and perhaps escape death!

Meanwhile, with a subtle lift of his fingers, Vicente made the building they were in lose its roof and seconds later three dozen locals appeared flying in that direction, or rather being dragged there by him.

”Release your anger, my friend. We’ll figure out what to do next after you and Lyra cleanse the hatred of your hearts.”

With these words from Vicente, Rex advanced against the enemies, who had made him suffer humiliating defeats, humiliated him, and almost made him die so many times. More furious than Lyra, he would cause even more carnage than the elf before fulfilling his greatest desires of the last few months.
