Taking the Mafia to the Magic World

Chapter 1116: Capital Punishment

A few minutes later, Vicente was accompanying a group of six elders, those who had put themselves in a position to guide him to where Larissa was supposed to be.

On the way to the city where Larissa was being held, 2,000 kilometers away, the old experts tried to play the game of deception that Vicente had heard them play earlier. He, of course, went along with what the group wanted, pretending to be ignorant while accepting the old men’s excuses.

The elders of the Alpine Eye Family wanted him to believe that Larissa’s current situation was related to family dissidents, traitors trying to harm them. In their words, Larissa was a victim of the rebellious wing of the family and had the bad luck to arrive in the Inviting Isles at the wrong time and be bought by the wrong people.

According to the six old men leading the way, they just hadn’t resolved the situation yet, given the difficulties of dealing with their own people. But with such a serious mistake made by one of them, there was no more room for tolerance. They were going to solve their internal problems once and for all and punish those who were involved in Larissa’s present situation with all the rigor of their rules.

Vicente admired his guides’ shameless lying to him. But he remained calm and soon spotted the place where Larissa was supposed to be.

”This way, senior. Your companion should be in that unit,” said one of the old men as he pointed to a building in the middle of a small town, a place that seemed the opposite of the previous town, being more of a permanent camp than a town.

Seeing the central construction of the area, a shed-like building, Vicente saw through the metal and block walls of the area, finally reaching the position of his traveling companion.

Larissa was as he had expected. Bound in chains, in a damp dark cell, her appearance devastated. Her face was showing every one of her bones, a sign of her severe malnutrition. Her skin looked dull, dry in some places, bruised in others. Her aura was naturally weakened, not even needing sealing items to keep her incapable of rebellion.

But it was the missing limbs, the severe wounds, which had already marked her appearance with signs that were difficult to erase, that caught Vicente’s attention the most.

Once again, he felt his pulse quicken, feeling boiling as he wanted to spill the blood of those men responsible for what had happened to her.

’You think that by separating from the rest of the elders, part of you is safe...’ Vicente secretly looked at the old men landing in the middle of the city, a little ahead of him. ’Maybe I’ll let one of you escape just to find out what will happen to the others. ’

Vicente almost activated in fury the secret marks he had left on each of the elders left behind in the Alpine Eye Family’s headquarters city.

Having decided about the fate of this house before he even left, he had naturally set various cruel mechanisms in motion to ensure the effectiveness of his vengeful desires.

Just as he was about to lose control and begin the massacre of the Alpine Eye Family, the black essence of the Infernal Crown coursed through his body, cooling his temperature and thoughts.

’Larissa deserves to see the end of these vermin. I’ll get to her first.’

He followed the entrance to the building ’dominated’ by the family’s ’rebels’, where not-so-happy guards were already waiting for them to make a severe change.

It was obvious that the family had warned them and put some plan into action, but even though they acted as if they didn’t know what was about to happen, some men couldn’t hide their nervousness in front of Vicente.

One of the old men accompanying Vicente said while sweating profusely, ”The men are a bit nervous... Tsk! You bastards! When it comes to breaking the rules, they’re brave and bold! But in the law’s face, they behave like cowards!” His voice echoed through the underground corridors, reaching even the chosen sacrifices for this farce.

Vicente followed without saying a word, soon reaching an area of many cells, quite dark. In this place, he didn’t need more than a minute to see where Larissa was, where at the moment nervous guards were waiting for them, kneeling in front of her cell.

”That one...” One of the old men was opening his mouth to say something when Vicente burst past them all, suddenly breaking through the metal bars of Larissa’s cell, reaching her as if the restrictions there were nothing.

Larissa was awake, observing the strange reaction of her captors, who were usually so arrogant and violent in their expressions and words. It took her a moment to identify the source of this commotion and realize that Vicente was back by her side.

Opening her eyes as wide as she could, she muttered in a weak, almost inaudible tone, ”Vicente!”

Vicente looked at her closely without acting immediately, identifying every injury she had suffered and that her captors should pay for.

When he reached her eyes, Vicente saw a different Larissa from the one he had been forced to leave behind so long ago. Her eyes no longer reflected the confidence and strength of a talented magician with great prospects for her future. Now there was a shadow over her, a deep hurt that made him feel sorry.

But he didn’t want to show the anger he was feeling now. So, with a warm smile, he said to her, ”Larissa, I’m going to give you everything you’ve wanted most in the last months. But before that, allow me to help you get back into shape.”

Moving one of his hands forward, he reached for his friend’s forehead, causing a powerful stream of mana to flow towards her in response to his powers. But this was no ordinary move. The moment a violet pentagram formed in front of Vicente, the very light around this underground area failed, while the structures of the building shook with force, destabilizing some of the local men, looking in awe at who was responsible for everything.

Then, as Larissa lost her physical restraints, her vital state improving rapidly, creatures rose from the shadows of the area.

Vicente didn’t hesitate to begin his counter-attack, bringing out the Darkness Realm with all the strength of his soul, affecting not only those in his presence, but some of those marked by the infernal darkness he already dominated.

For a moment, the six elders standing there with him thought that this was the moment for Vicente to vent his anger and punish the ’culprits’ they had already selected. But after a few moments of oppression, their hearts faltered and thoughts of this not being their plan in development worried them.

As the eldest elder raised a trembling hand, sparks of forbidden magic flickering at his fingertips, Vicente’s voice cracked through the prison wing like a whip of black lightning.

”You thought to deceive me?” The words slithered through the air, heavy with frost, as Vicente turned his head with deliberate slowness. His blazing eyes locked onto the six figures now frozen before Larissa’s cell. ”Your bloodline ends here tonight—starting with the rot at its core.”

A suffocating pressure bloomed in their chests—not pain, but corruption, tendrils of shadow hooking into their very souls. One man clawed at his robes, gasping as ink-black veins pulsed beneath his parchment-thin skin.

”Impossible! The seal—”

”Pathetic,” Vicente murmured, and with a snap of his fingers, the darkness within them twisted. Ribbons of liquid obsidian coiled around their hearts, crystallizing into jagged chains that leeched their magic dry. The elders collapsed like marionettes with severed strings, their hollow screams echoing off the dripping stone walls.

Vicente didn’t spare them a glance as he swept past. His focus lingered instead on Larissa, who slumped against the iron bars, her once-vibrant aura dulled by weeks of torment. With a flick of his wrist, tendrils of living smoke poured from the shadows, wrapping gently around her temples.

”Wake,” he commanded—a whisper that boomed like a temple bell.

Larissa gasped. The void in her mind filled not with light, but with cold, intoxicating power. Dried blood flaked from her knuckles as her hands curled into fists, her emaciated frame swelling with restored strength. When her eyes snapped open, they burned with twin novas of violet-black flame—a perfect mirror of Vicente’s own gaze.

Larissa’s bare feet slapped against blood-slick stone, each step crackling with the sickly sweet stench of overcooked ozone. The floor itself blistered, black boils rising and bursting to release wriggling shadow-maggots. The crown forming above her snow-white hair wasn’t mere darkness—it was anti-light, jagged obsidian spines drinking in the chamber’s faint torch glow until the air turned greasy and thick.

Larissa’s new cape didn’t simply form—it peeled from the walls in strips of living membrane, fused to her shoulders with a wet crunch.

”You evil mongrels, I’ll make you taste the seven paths of Hell!” She shouted with a tone mixed with pain and bloodlust, making each member of the unit feel like they were the focus of this woman’s vengeance, certain that there was no escape from this moment.

Vicente just watched the massacre begin while leaving it for his friend to deal with these people.
