Worthless Profession: Dragon Tamer

Chapter 827, Why Should I Trust You?

There was no other way.

The facts were indeed as such.

This strange existence before him claimed to be Valkyrie from the previous era, who had taken the place of an Ancient God.

Moreover, although she was an Ancient God, she wanted to permanently eliminate the other Ancient Gods, whose ultimate goal was the Ancient Gods’ Struggle For Supremacy.

While those words sounded reasonable, they came from a mouth without a shred of evidence to prove it.

In fact, whether she truly was the Human Valkyrie from the previous era was completely unknown. After all, everything from the previous era had been buried during the era change.

For her to say these things in her capacity as an Ancient God made them rather lacking in credibility.

Lu Fan thought for a long time, then retrieved the Abyssal Source from his Inventory.

The moment this object was taken out, her body visibly stiffened, and the strange insect that had replaced her head even raised its body, as if ‘looking’ towards the Abyssal Source.

Seeing that while the other party showed some unusual reaction to the Abyssal Source, she had no intention of snatching it, Lu Fan did not retreat. Instead, he held the Abyssal Source and said. “I now at least understand what you are thinking.”

“This Abyssal Source should be the key you mentioned. It must be part of what it takes to completely kill an Ancient God, take their place, and become the new holder of that Ancient God’s Divine Seat, correct?”

“To be honest, when I killed the Abyssal Ancient God, I vaguely sensed that something in my Inventory was emanating a kind of power. It was firmly binding the Source that the Abyssal Ancient God wanted to escape with, keeping it in place.”

“Thinking about it now, it must have been that incomplete array you gave me earlier.”

“What you’ve given me wasn’t some Profession Change Array, but rather a key item that could cause Ancient Gods to drop their Ancient God Source when killed. So, what you actually wanted was to use my hands to kill the Abyssal Ancient God, then have me take its place and become the new Abyssal Ancient God.”

“Then, you and I would join forces to somehow kill the other Ancient Gods one by one, stripping them all of their Divine Seats and transferring them to other people. That way, as long as all those holding Divine Seats are our own people, the Ancient Gods’ Struggle For Supremacy won’t begin, and this world won’t reach its ultimate end. Am I right?”

“Exactly!” Seeing that Lu Fan understood her painstaking efforts, Valkyrie immediately responded. “That is my plan. But there’s one thing you got wrong. That incomplete Array can not only allow you to bind the Abyssal Ancient God’s Abyssal Source, it is indeed a Fourth Profession Change Array. Moreover, it’s no ordinary Profession Change Array. This Profession Change Array can allow you to gain a better understanding of your Profession during your Fourth Profession Change, making Levelling Up more easily. At the same time, it can also bestow upon you the Ancient God’s Divine Seat.”

“If you add the Abyssal Source to this Array and then perform the Profession Change Ceremony, you’ll successfully complete your Fourth Profession Change while simultaneously obtaining the Abyssal Ancient God’s Divine Seat. Then, you’ll be able to wield a portion of that Ancient God’s power.”

“Of course, you can only partially wield it since your Level is still too low. After your Fifth Profession Change and Sixth Profession Change, you’ll gradually master more of the Ancient God’s power. And when you complete your Seventh Profession Change and become a true Ancient God, you’ll have full control over all of its power.”

“At that point, you’ll be a genuine Ancient God. However, whether your strength can actually contend with a fully awakened High Tier Ancient God will still depend on your own potential. Take me for example. Although what I’ve taken was also a Mid Tier Ancient God’s Divine Seat, at my peak strength, I could contend with High Tier Ancient Gods.”

At this point, her tone lowered somewhat. “But unfortunately, I mastered this power far too late. If I could have grasped this power earlier, I could have killed him directly when the Abyssal Ancient God murdered my relatives and friends.”

“I hope you won’t follow in my footsteps. Although you’re so similar to me, I don’t want to see you, millions of years from now, in the same state as me, seeking out the strongest person in the next era and earnestly telling them all this. I hope we can completely end everything in this era, allowing this world to continue, while those Ancient Gods lacking any Humanity can be thoroughly replaced.”

Lu Fan gave a cold laugh and said, “You’re speaking a bit too soon. I haven’t said that I trust you or that I’ll cooperate with you, have I? What you’re saying sounds impressive, but you can’t produce any evidence.”

“I am certain that you’re indeed an Ancient God, but whether you’re truly Valkyrie from the previous era, and whether your purpose in seeking me out is really to overthrow the other Ancient Gods, still requires me to vet.”

“I’m not an idiot. I can’t just listen to you say a few words here and truly believe everything you’ve said, right?”

“I do know something about the cunningness of the Ancient Gods. So, I naturally need to be wary. What if you’re just an unawakened Ancient God trying to possess me through this method?”

As he spoke, he raised the Abyssal Source in his hand and said, “Heaven knows whether this thing combined with the Array you gave me is some kind of trap. Once I use it, will I become your Void Slave?”

“Well…” Valkyrie’s tone became bitter. “What you’re saying is reasonable. Given my current identity and appearance, whatever I say seems to lack any persuasive power. Actually, it’s normal for you to doubt me, and I was already mentally prepared for this.”

“Forget it. If you don’t trust me, then so be it. I’m not confident I can completely end the Ancient Gods’ Struggle For Supremacy within this era anyway. Doing everything I’m capable of is already enough.”

“Don’t worry. Although I’m an Ancient God, I have no intention of harming others. Otherwise, I would have long since killed everyone in Dragon Capital and turned them into power for my awakening.”

“I’ve remained in the Dragon Capital because I know it’s one of the most powerful countries in the current era. A strong person like I once was will inevitably be born here to fight alongside me.”

“I thought that person was you, but you don’t trust me. Since that’s the case, I have no need to stay here any longer.”

“Keep that Abyssal Source safe. At the very least, it cannot fall into the hands of the other Ancient Gods. If it falls into the hands of another Ancient God, they can use this Abyssal Source to transform one of their servants into an Ancient God and form an alliance with them.”

“At that point, things will become even more unmanageable.”
