Death Game: Starting as a Trickster, Pretending to Be a God

Chapter 62: The Fourth Room!

Facing Lin Yuʼs final doubt, the deity ”Lin Yu” waved his hand.

”No, my second dungeon ten years ago wasnʼt ʼDeadly Quizʼ, but ʼDesert Island Survivalʼ... I survived till the end by playing the fisherman role.”

Lin Yu recalled.

Though his memories were hazy from nearly drowning, they were gradually becoming clearer now...

The bloody text he saw before entering the game this time did seem somewhat off!

The deity ”Lin Yu” continued looking at Lin Yu:

”ʼDeitiesʼ can alter the past—everything can be changed except the fact that youʼll inevitably ʼascend to godhoodʼ.”

”Just like your 『Rewind』 ability.”

Lin Yu stroked his chin, his eyes filled with belief: ”Alright, I believe you... but whatʼs the point of doing this?”

”ʼChanging the pastʼ also affects the future. If you grow stronger faster, Iʼll become stronger too!”
”Lin Yu” said solemnly.

Lin Yu looked at him and sighed: ”Anyway, let me verify something—whatʼs my girlfriendʼs name?”

”You donʼt have a girlfriend.”

The deity ”Lin Yu” answered immediately.

”There must be one in the future?”

Lin Yu persisted.

”No. I—or rather you—would we ever be the type to want a girlfriend?”

The deity ”Lin Yu” responded decisively.

Lin Yu nodded slightly: ”Correct answer. Now I believe you... but I want to use the ʼrewardʼ from my last question to make a request of you.”

”Between us, who stands on ceremony?” The deity ”Lin Yu” smiled. ”Just say it.”

Lin Yu looked at him earnestly: ”I say, can you stop spouting nonsense?”

The smile froze on the deity ”Lin Yu”ʼs face.

”You still donʼt believe me?”

Lin Yu sighed.

”Rejected this request after all... How preposterous. Last dungeon I played a deity, this dungeon a deity is playing me!”

Hearing this, the deity ”Lin Yu” showed a trace of anger, clenching his fists.

”I never imagined my ten-years-younger self would be so suspicious! I can name your profession, everything you did in the first dungeon... I know your past inside out! Youʼre investigating who trapped you here, you want to use this game to earn money for your sister, your best friend in real life is Shen Bingmiao...”

Lin Yu sighed.

”Exactly. So you should also know... how passionate I am about acting...”

He interrupted the deity ”Lin Yu”ʼs anger, speaking helplessly: ”I already said, your acting canʼt even compare to ʼUnforgottenʼ—after ten years, even if my acting hasnʼt improved, it wouldnʼt regress this much!”

”Look at your ʼanger at being distrustedʼ act—your eyebrows are twitching too exaggeratedly, your tone too rushed... What, after becoming a deity Iʼd lose the ability to ʼimmerseʼ in emotions?”

His voice suddenly rose an octave, the trailing tremble carrying a low roar, flames seeming to ignite in his eyes: ”This is an insult to me, to all my past efforts honing acting skills—I demand you apologize immediately!”

After speaking, Lin Yu immediately reined in his emotions, expression returning to normal.

”At least act angry to this degree, Your Deity Majesty.”

Lin Yu waved his hand.

”Fine, since you canʼt stop spouting nonsense, letʼs change the request... Can you dispel the surrounding mist and let me choose which path to take?”

After Lin Yuʼs rapid-fire speech, the opposite ”Lin Yu” gently applauded.

”Iʼm genuinely starting to admire you now, Lin Yu.”

As he spoke, the surrounding gray mist gradually thinned and dispersed.

Then, a space even vaster than the second room appeared, comparable to a large central square.

The towering dome reached a hundred meters high, surrounded by gray cliff-like walls.

Looking back, Lin Yu realized the spiral staircase behind him was merely decorative—though tall, it fell far short of the domeʼs height.

After the mist cleared, hidden deep in the mist to Lin Yuʼs right was a genuine long staircase.

An imposing, lengthy and broad stairway led to a giant gate near the dome, previously also concealed by mist.

The gate was similarly gray, though lighter in shade, as if carved from two massive square boulders.

Lin Yu exhaled.

”As expected...”

Each roomʼs choice followed the same pattern—the real answer was never the surface ”options.”

”I choose this path,” Lin Yu pointed at the staircase. ”This is selectable, right?”

”Of course.”

The opposite ”Lin Yu” replied, then transformed into gray mist and vanished into the air.

In its place echoed a dull ”boom” throughout the space.

”Rumble—”

The massive stones ground against the floor with heavy sounds.

The gray giant gateʼs two stone doors opened slightly, revealing a narrow gap emitting soft light.

Looking at the long staircase and opening stone gate, Lin Yu sighed.

”The first two rooms had crows carrying me. Now I have to climb stairs myself.”

He jogged up helplessly.

Fortunately, the 『Soldier』ʼs physical enhancements remained, so Lin Yu soon reached the staircaseʼs base.

The gentle slope allowed Lin Yu to quickly ascend to the top—right before the giant gate.

”Whew, still somewhat tiring.”

Lin Yu mused, wishing he could switch to 『Otaku』 mode now.

But he wasnʼt that greedy.

After brief rest, Lin Yu stepped through the gateʼs narrow gap.

Though just a ”slit” relative to the massive gate, it was wide enough for three people to walk through hand in hand.

Exiting the gate, Lin Yu found himself in an even more expansive space.

This room resembled an observation deck—gray floor beneath, surrounded by circular walls of ”transparent crystal” material, forming panoramic glass-like curves.

Looking around, the platform seemed suspended high in the sky, surrounded by rolling clouds where enormous creatures faintly swam.

Turning back after a few steps, Lin Yu saw a hundred-meter-tall gray Crow-Man stone statue.

The ”stone gate” heʼd exited was the base of the staff in its right hand.

”So the final room is a ʼrooftop terraceʼ...”

Lin Yu muttered.

Before him, gray mist coalesced, reforming into the gray Crow-Manʼs image.

It looked at Lin Yu and spoke:

”Congratulations, Lin Yu.”

”Welcome to the final room of the ʼInverted Towerʼ!”
