Martial Cultivator

Although Yu Xiyi was normally a chatterbox who never stopped talking, when it came time to fight, he truly looked like a great sword immortal.

His attainments in sword dao might not have been the most orthodox, but when it came to his understanding of the sword, there were indeed very few people in the world today who could compare with him.

After all, he had genuinely defeated the Sword Sect’s Sect Master, the number one swordsman in the world, in a battle between opponents of the same realm.

Among all the sword cultivators under heaven, he was one of a kind.

As soon as Yu Xiyi joined the battlefield, he truly advanced with the momentum of a tiger swallowing ten thousand miles, taking on two demon lords by himself. When he drew his sword, sword qi swept forth, instantly tearing apart a vast sea of clouds.

As if that were still not enough, after thrusting out one sword, this young great sword immortal seemed to find it unsatisfying. Grasping his flying sword Wild Grass in his hand, he sent out another sword attack. In an instant, sword qi filled heaven and earth. It was like a spring rain falling, as the withered wild grass that had lain dormant through an entire winter sprouted fresh green shoots.

Life flourished everywhere.

The three demon lords present were instantly enveloped by Yu Xiyi’s sword qi. In that very moment, this great sword immortal directly used his sword qi to construct a battlefield, dragging all three of them into it.

The cultivators who witnessed this scene were all stunned. None of them dared believe that this young great sword immortal possessed such confidence. In a battle between those of the same realm, he intended to fight three against one!

One had to know that the demon race’s great demons were often stronger than human cultivators at the end of Nepenthe. Even though sword cultivators had always been famed as the strongest in killing power, this was still one against three!

Yet Yu Xiyi seemed not to care in the slightest. After marking out the battlefield, he looked at the three demon lords and burst into laughter. ”Since this is a fight to the death, how about I trade one life for two of yours, and seriously wound the third? What do you say?”

The three demon lords were trapped within Yu Xiyi’s sword qi. In truth, it was not that they had lacked the opportunity to leave before this happened, they simply had no such intention.

Although they knew the young great sword immortal before them was one of the top cultivators of the human race’s younger generation, and they knew how formidable his killing power was, all three of them were demon lords. They simply did not believe that the man before them could fight three against one.

”You can’t kill people with your mouth.”

One of the demon lords spoke indifferently. The next moment, his body suddenly expanded, continuously growing larger as he prepared to manifest an enormous dharma idol.

Seeing this scene, Yu Xiyi showed no sign of panic. He merely raised a hand, joined his fingers into a sword gesture, and casually traced it through the air several times. Countless strands of sword qi converged toward the sky from every direction within this battlefield, completely surrounding the area before the enormous dharma idol had fully manifested.

When the demon lord’s dharma idol came into contact with the countless strands of sword qi above, sharp hissing sounds rang out without end.

Demonic qi and sword qi intertwined, as though two flying swords were clashing against each other, sending showers of sparks flying.

What was difficult for the naked eye to perceive was that the demon lord’s dharma idol was still trying to continue expanding, but the omnipresent sword qi had already become one continuous whole. As the dharma idol slowly and laboriously pushed outward, all the sword qi throughout that battlefield stretched taut like countless long threads.

In the end, the demon lord’s dharma idol could expand no further. Where its head met that invisible net of sword qi overhead, a brutal struggle erupted.

Yu Xiyi calmly watched the demon lord’s dharma idol. If it had fully manifested, then before it Yu Xiyi would probably have seemed as insignificant as a mustard seed. But even now, with the dharma idol only partially manifested, Yu Xiyi was little more than an ant before the demon lord.

”Of course Your Father knows to use a sword to kill people, but you three don’t exactly look like people.”

Yu Xiyi said with a grin, ”Your Father’s flying sword is called Wild Grass, the greatest sword forged by Sword Qi Mountain in the past hundred years. As for me, I’m also the greatest sword cultivator to emerge in the last hundred years. So tell me, if the strongest sword of the last hundred years joins hands with the greatest sword cultivator of the last hundred years, can we kill at least two of you three and still walk away unscathed?”

Yu Xiyi never stopped talking, but he was not merely talking. As he spoke, he continued drawing his sword, sending out strike after strike. While reinforcing this battlefield, he also attacked the demon lord whose dharma idol had failed to fully manifest.

The other two demon lords no longer hesitated. Each of them also manifested their own dharma idols.

While Yu Xiyi had been talking just now, the three of them had already communicated through voice transmission and reached an agreement - to kill Yu Xiyi here as quickly as possible. If this man died, the human race would truly lose one of its most important powerhouses.

In truth, after Demon Lord Redsleeve became the commander of the demon army, the first thing she resolved was the demons’ way of thinking.

Since this was to be a great war in which the entire race would devote all its strength solely to marching south, they could no longer fight as they had before, each on their own, ignoring military orders. Even the so-called pride of the strong had to be cast aside. Everyone had to become united.

It sounded like something that could be explained in just a few sentences, but actually accomplishing it was anything but easy. Only someone like Demon Lord Redsleeve, whose status, position, and even cultivation realm were completely fitting, could have achieved it.

Oh, right, even this Demon Lord Redsleeve’s temperament was perfectly suited for it.

These demon lords could refuse to obey orders or pretend to comply while secretly defying them, but if Demon Lord Redsleeve discovered it, not only would they themselves die, even their entire clan would pay the price for disobeying military orders.

Demon Lord Redsleeve did not need the Demon Emperor to decide such matters, because she herself commanded the entirety of the Southern Frontier, with countless demons of the Southern Frontier behind her. If she wanted to kill someone, it truly seemed there was no need for the Demon Emperor to say a word.

That was why, whether demon lords or great demons, all of them were so willing to bow before this female demon lord.

Or perhaps not willing from the heart, but they would definitely lower their heads.

The three demon lords joined forces to manifest their dharma idols, and Yu Xiyi’s sword qi domain was immediately put under tremendous pressure. His swordsmanship was certainly profound, but in the end, he was still fighting alone.

Yu Xiyi took a deep breath, then exhaled a stream of sword qi. He ran a hand across the blade of his flying sword. At this moment, his entire mind was focused on this sword qi domain, but even so, he could not stop the demon lords’ dharma idols from continuing to expand.

The strength of one man was often powerless.

Yu Xiyi rubbed his cheeks and steadied his breathing, waiting for an opportunity to strike. He was waiting until his sword qi domain was shattered by the dharma idols. At that moment, the demon lords would lower their guard against him the most.

And at that moment, Yu Xiyi would thrust out his sword.

He did not ask for much. He only wanted that single sword strike, containing the very essence of his essence, energy, and spirit, to cut down one demon lord.

Thinking of this, Yu Xiyi even smiled faintly, his excitement overflowing.

Damn it... today’s finally the day Your Father gets to show off for once!

......

At Moon Viewing Terrace, the original defending general was Xu Ji, who had served in the Northern Frontier for more than twenty years. He was also one of the many descendants of famous military families in the Northern Frontier Army. Within the Northern Frontier Army, he was known by the nickname One-handed Xu. It was said that his left arm possessed inborn divine strength, with the power of a thousand catties in a single hand. Within the frontier army, there were very few who could defeat him through brute strength alone.

In truth, a general like him was better suited to carrying the great banner, or in other words, whenever the frontier army needed someone to carry the great banner, he was the most suitable choice.

Although Xu Ji himself had served as the defending general of Moon Viewing Terrace for many years, and his prestige there was unmatched, after receiving the General’s Office’s military orders, he willingly relinquished the position of commanding general to the younger general whose reputation was even greater.

He himself stepped down to become the deputy general.

Now the two of them stood side by side atop the city wall, looking into the distance below. The demon army had established camps in the distance. They showed no intention of attacking, but they certainly had no intention of leaving either.

A scar ran across Xu Ji’s face, stretching from his eyebrow all the way down to his neck, making him look particularly fearsome. He had received it during one of the demon assaults on Moon Viewing Terrace. He had held the position for an entire month, ultimately preventing the demons from crossing this place, but in that battle, fewer than one in ten of the soldiers at Moon Viewing Terrace had survived, and he himself had nearly lost his life. At the time, a demon general had brought down a single slash. Had someone not risked their life to save him, he would have ended up with far more than just a scar.

”They’re just watching us, and we’re just watching them. It always leaves me feeling uneasy.”

Xu Ji spoke slowly, his thumb continuously rubbing the hilt of the saber at his waist.

Gao Xuan said calmly, ”The demons’ thinking is simple. As long as we don’t leave this place, that’s enough.”

Communication between the General’s Office and Moon Viewing Terrace had never been cut off. Gao Xuan knew very well how much pressure the General’s Office was under.

But precisely because of that, he dared not act rashly. The moment he made a move, the demon army at Moon Viewing Terrace could go from merely observing to launching a real attack in the blink of an eye.

Xu Ji suddenly asked, ”General Gao, is it possible that the demon army opposite us isn’t actually as numerous as we imagined? That they’re concentrating their forces simply to break open a gap at the General’s Office?”

Gao Xuan glanced at Xu Ji. Just as he was about to speak, a desolate horn suddenly echoed through the air.

Xu Ji’s expression instantly became solemn. Looking toward the distant demon army, he found it hard to believe.

While Gao Xuan could not help but smile bitterly. ”That’s true. What’s the point of just watching? Why would they only watch?”

It was on that very day, while a bloody battle raged at the General’s Office, that the demon armies simultaneously began assaulting all the other passes along the Northern Frontier Great Wall.

Only then did this unprecedented great war truly begin.
