Martial Cultivator

”Cultivation, cultivation, all you know is cultivation. So boring!”

The little girl puffed out her cheeks angrily, but she quickly closed her mouth and stopped speaking. Before long, she transformed back into that red flower.

Because a tall middle-aged man had appeared at the end of the mountain path ahead.

”Master...”

The youth in white looked up. At the same moment, Chen Chao and Yu Xiyi also looked up.

The three of them experienced entirely different feelings in that instant.

The youth in white was not at a sufficiently high realm, so when he looked at the tall middle-aged man, he only felt that the man was imposing and lofty.

While Yu Xiyi’s expression became extremely grave. He sensed from the middle-aged man the same sort of feeling he had once sensed from Daoist Wuyang, though it was also different. That middle-aged man was likely far more powerful than Daoist Wuyang.

As for Chen Chao, what he felt was a weight as heavy as a mountain.

The pressure brought by this Sect Master of the Rongshan Sect was strikingly similar to what he had felt from the Demon Emperor before. In other words, this sect whose status in that era remained unknown, its sect master possessed a cultivation level sufficient to rival the strongest powerhouse of the demon race today.

That era truly had been far stronger than the present one.

The towering Sect Master of the Rongshan Sect looked down the mountain path. Yet his gaze did not initially fall upon Bei Geng. Instead, it lingered on Chen Chao for a moment.

Chen Chao was absolutely certain that this powerful Sect Master had truly seen him.

But the man’s gaze quickly moved away from Chen Chao and returned to Bei Geng.

”A’Geng, come with master. Master has a Daoist technique to impart you.”

After saying this, the Sect Master of the Rongshan Sect turned around and left on his own. He did not even wait for the youth in white to respond.

Bei Geng hurried after him at a run. His master would enter seclusion from time to time. If he missed this opportunity, he might not see him again for years.

Chen Chao and the other two followed behind as well.

The Sect Master of the Rongshan Sect arrived at a secluded place in the back mountain and sat down cross-legged. There was a Dao Enlightenment Platform there, and behind it stood an ancient pine tree with luxuriant branches.

After sitting down, Bei Geng also sat opposite the Sect Master of the Rongshan Sect and quietly waited for him to impart the daoist technique.

The Sect Master of the Rongshan Sect was in no hurry. He merely said calmly, ”A’Geng, in cultivation, daoist techniques are external, while the dao heart is internal. If you cannot firmly uphold your dao heart and are disturbed by external matters, then no matter how many supreme daoist techniques you learn in this lifetime, you will never become a true powerhouse.”

Bei Geng thought for a moment before asking, ”Master, what if my dao heart was never focused on cultivating to become stronger? What if becoming a powerhouse was never my original intention?”

The Sect Master of the Rongshan Sect looked at the youth in white before him. He did not seem angered by the question and merely said calmly, ”The expectations the sect places on you are too great. Because of that, you feel that every step on the path of cultivation must be taken with extreme care, fearing that you might disappoint your martial uncles and elders. Is that not so?”

”Master’s insight is as sharp as ever.”

Bei Geng did not hide anything. Such external pressure was indeed somewhat cruel for a youth like him. Many times while cultivating, he could not calm his mind, and that was probably the reason.

The Sect Master of the Rongshan Sect said calmly, ”There is no need to dwell on it. The great path lies ahead. Even if you occasionally stray onto a side road, it does not matter. With master here, I can naturally guide you back. Your talent is extraordinary, and you were born for cultivation. Back then, in order to bring you to this mountain, master fought quite a few people and paid no small price. If you stop moving forward because of fear, then you will have somewhat failed master.”

Bei Geng looked at the Sect Master of the Rongshan Sect. After a moment of silence, he took a deep breath and nodded, ”This disciple understands. This disciple would like to ask Master, if I achieve success in cultivation, may I go down the mountain for a while?”

”And what would you do down the mountain?”

”Gain some experience. It might be beneficial to my cultivation.”

”There is no meaning in it. Your status is special. The world below the mountain is dangerous. Many sects would send powerful experts to assassinate you. If you die before reaching a higher realm, it would be even more meaningless.”

”Then when may this disciple go down the mountain?”

”Naturally, when no one in the world can kill you.”

The Sect Master of the Rongshan Sect’s words could be summarized in four characters: Unrivaled in the world.

Yu Xiyi sneered. ”His cultivation philosophy really does coincide with those old fellows who spend all their time in seclusion. The difference is that they simply ignore worldly affairs, while this guy seems even more extreme.”

Chen Chao said nothing. As a master himself, he felt this was wrong.

At the very least, what was clearly wrong here was that the Sect Master of the Rongshan Sect was forcing Bei Geng to follow his own way of thinking.

Zhu Xia sighed. ”I think I understand now why he’s always unhappy.”

Although Bei Geng had always been cherished and protected, surrounded by everyone’s expectations, those things were probably not what he wanted at all.

That was why he was always in pain.

The process of transmitting the Dao afterward became rather vague, because Zhu Xia had not paid much attention to that part of the memory. Yu Xiyi sighed regretfully. ”Damn it, you dropped the ball at the most important moment.”

A cultivation technique from the previous era might truly have been something extraordinary. Although he, Great Sword Immortal Yu, had no use for it, that did not stop him from wanting to know what it was.

Zhu Xia glanced at Yu Xiyi and frowned. She knew that Yu Xiyi and Chen Chao were very good friends, but she still did not like him very much. He was far too crude and nowhere near as gentle as A’Yue.

Chen Chao looked at Yu Xiyi helplessly. He had also noticed Zhu Xia’s dissatisfaction, but that was simply the sort of person Yu Xiyi was. In this lifetime, there would probably only be two people who could truly keep him in line.

One had already appeared: his final disciple, Jiang Xiao’an. When facing this final disciple of his, Yu Xiyi truly had no solutions at all.

As for the other, there was no telling whether she would ever appear. That would be this great sword immortal’s future wife.

And if he ever had a daughter afterward, then in front of those three women, Great Sword Immortal Yu would probably never be able to hold his head high again.

But if that day truly came, this great sword immortal likely would not mind very much.

It would be a trouble, but a happy sort of trouble.
