Martial Cultivator

Since they would not enter that great hall, they moved to look elsewhere. The Sword Sect was not small, and with its many years of inheritance, there were indeed many places to visit. Chen Chao patiently followed these two sword cultivators, walking and stopping, as if this trip up the mountain was only to see what this Sword Dao sect, which was so out of step with the world, looked like.

Passing a sword pool, Chen Chao looked at the flying swords inserted into the ground. Most were rusted, appearing far from new.

“These are the flying swords left by previous generations of the sect after their passing. Supposedly they are for future sword cultivators, but in truth, for these flying swords to follow those past Sword Dao predecessors and suddenly be used by later sword cultivators who have not yet reached any particular realm is not easy. That is why so many flying swords remain here.”

Meng Sangshan explained this to Chen Chao.

Chen Chao said nothing, and later came to a place where swords were being forged. A few swordsmiths were here, forging flying swords.

Chen Chao then said, “Since Sword Sect is filled with sword cultivators, it should have long since figured out sword forging techniques. With the natural advantages of being a sword cultivator, it should have surpassed Sword Qi Mountain long ago.”

Meng Sangshan smiled, “It’s not so simple. Besides, these fellows only think about improving their Sword Dao cultivation. If you ask them to forge swords, probably no one would take it seriously.”

Chen Chao nodded upon hearing this, saying nothing further.

Then Meng Sangshan looked at Chen Chao with suspicion, probably thinking this Lord Warden Commander seemed somewhat unusual.

Afterwards, the group left this area. The Sword Mountain had been mostly explored.

Meng Sangshan suddenly laughed, “There’s a place. Lord Warden Commander Chen, do you want to go see it?”

Chen Chao looked at Sword Immortal Meng with some suspicion. Yu Xiyi seemed to guess what the place was, and this guy, who normally never cared about anything, nodded unexpectedly, “That place can be worth seeing.”

After Yu Xiyi said this, Chen Chao became curious. The two left the sword-forging area and soon took a path different from the mountain path over there, heading forward. Not long after, Chen Chao heard the sound of flowing water.

When they reached the end of this path, the scene suddenly opened up. Before them was a magnificent waterfall, falling from a place that could not be seen the end of.

The four stood outside the waterfall. The roar of water made Chen Chao frown.

Yu Xiyi squinted and smiled, “Do you see any profundities?”

At first glance, the massive waterfall looked no different from ordinary flowing water. But in reality, it was much thicker than normal water, looking like mercury.

Chen Chao narrowed his eyes, “This is not a waterfall... it is the materialization of sword qi...”

Saying this, Chen Chao was stunned.

Materializing sword qi into flowing water like this, spreading like mercury across the ground, was something ordinary sword immortals could do. But a waterfall like this that continued endlessly was not easy. ȑ𝙖ƝΟΒЁs

Yu Xiyi pointed out the truth, “Up there is a formation. Before each great sword immortal’s passing, they inject their lifelong sword qi into many sword qi talismans. How much sword qi they have in their lives, I don’t need to elaborate, right? Afterward, by slowly releasing it, this sword qi waterfall continues endlessly.”

Chen Chao glanced at Yu Xiyi. This is truly the foundation of the Sword Sect. Even just this sword qi waterfall alone is something no ordinary sect could produce.

“Sword cultivators occasionally endure sword qi here to temper their bodies. But unlike you martial artists strengthening your bodies, this so-called tempering is actually perceiving the predecessors’ Sword Dao through diluted sword qi.”

Each generation in the Sword Sect has produced numerous remarkable sword cultivators. This waterfall is a contribution beyond words. Generation after generation, as long as nothing major happens in the Sword Sect, it is difficult for it to decline.

This is the foundation of a top-tier great sect. Sword Sect is like this; the Infatuation Daoist Temple is similar.

Chen Chao did not speak, only noticing that beneath the waterfall, a young man seemed to be sitting cross-legged. At this moment, his eyes were tightly closed, his face showing pain.

Meng Sangshan noticed Chen Chao’s gaze and spoke, “That boy’s name is Meng Xi. He is a distant nephew of mine. He was brought up the mountain some time ago and is now Old Jiao’s disciple.”

Yu Xiyi clicked his tongue, “If he is Martial Uncle Meng’s nephew, why did he become Martial Uncle Jiao’s disciple? Could it be that Martial Uncle Jiao also has descendants on the mountain and you two are exchanging hostages?”

Meng Sangshan felt a headache. Yu Xiyi had long been famous for speaking without thinking. Normally, Meng Sangshan could still respond out of respect for rank. Now that Yu Xiyi was already a great sword immortal, even he could no longer control him.

Chen Chao smiled and asked, “Is that boy prepared by the Sword Sect as the next generation’s leading sword cultivator?”

Regarding insight, Chen Chao naturally surpasses Yu Xiyi by far. He knew that ordinary sword cultivators would not be mentioned by Meng Sangshan unless they were important. The fact that Meng Sangshan spoke of him indicated this boy must be significant.

Meng Sangshan smiled and nodded, “This kid Yu Xiyi has high talent, and the girl Lord Warden Commander Chen likes is the same. In fact, you could say they were born as natural sword embryos, though in reality they were not. But this boy was naturally attuned to flying swords. When he came up the mountain, a flying sword immediately recognized him as its master. That one incident alone is enough to show that his future achievements are destined to be extraordinary.”

Chen Chao thought for a moment, then tentatively asked, “Sword Immortal Meng, do you mean that I should look after this boy a little as he grows?”

Meng Sangshan laughed heartily and nodded, “Exactly. Most geniuses in this world are not tolerated by society. Without someone looking after them, it is actually too difficult for them to grow smoothly. Although he was born in the Sword Sect, given his nature, he will want to explore everywhere. My thinking aligns with Old Jiao’s. That stinky kid Yu Xiyi has already come this far; perhaps this path is the right one...”

Some words were left unsaid, but Chen Chao understood.

In the Sword Sect, life will naturally be without worries, but the problem is that this boy Meng Xi will not always stay in the Sword Sect. If he travels the world, it would be excellent if the current Lord Warden Commander Chen is willing to look after him.

“No problem.”

Chen Chao smiled and agreed to this matter. For him, it was really no big deal. Being able to make the acquaintance of two sword immortals here was quite good.

However, Chen Chao added, “But I must say this upfront: if in the future this boy causes trouble or harms the people in Great Liang territory, I will not tolerate it. So please, Sword Immortals, inform him beforehand. Otherwise, if something really happens, don’t blame me for not warning you.”

Meng Sangshan nodded, “Of course.”

Jiao Xincheng, who had been silent all along, also clasped his fists and said, “Thank you, Lord Warden Commander.”

He naturally had high expectations for his bloodline’s descendant and would certainly care about him.

After Chen Chao nodded in return, he finally asked, “Two Sword Immortals, we’ve already looked around. There seems to be nothing more to see. How does the Sect Master say, and when will I meet him?”

Hearing this, Meng Sangshan was slightly startled and asked curiously, “Lord Warden Commander Chen, how do you know?”

Chen Chao smiled at Meng Sangshan and said, “If the Sect Master does not want to meet me, then I wouldn’t have been able to enter Sword Sect.”

Meng Sangshan nodded. He was actually a little surprised. Someone like the Sect Master had stopped receiving guests since many years ago. Even someone like Chen Chao, whose reputation in the world was already immense, would not necessarily make the Sect Master regard him specially.

“The Sect Master is waiting for Lord Warden Commander on the back mountain, but there is one thing I must tell Lord Warden Commander first: if Lord Warden Commander does not take the initiative to bring it up yourself, the Sect Master will not see you.”

......

......

Chen Chao walked alone along the back-mountain path, musing on what Meng Sangshan had said last, frowning slightly.

It was within his expectations that the Sword Sect’s Sect Master would meet him. In fact, when he first went to the Sword Sect, Chen Chao already knew he would be allowed in; this was no surprise.

Because the Sword Sect’s Sect Master had once received the Great Liang Emperor’s favor, he was obligated to repay it.

Now that the Great Liang Emperor was no longer around, that duty ultimately fell to Chen Chao.

What Chen Chao had not expected was that the Sword Sect’s Sect Master harbored this little intention, which surprised him.

After a short while, Chen Chao saw a pavilion ahead on the mountain path.

Under the pavilion, a tall man stood with his back to him; his long hair was streaked black and white, and he exuded dense sword qi from head to toe, like an unparalleled sword drawn from its scabbard.

Truly the number one figure of Sword Dao in the world.

Chen Chao stopped outside the pavilion, thought for a moment, and said something that perhaps no one in the world would have expected.

“This official came up the mountain this time to ask Sect Master to help this official kill someone.”
