Chapter 279: Hunter Guild

Since when Rose heard Ethan’s bold words earlier about letting her do anything she wanted and that he would protect her, her heart was beating like a war drum.

Her face turned red with an excessive dopamine rush.

”Dear prince charming of my dream, if you don’t come out soon from my dream, I’ll fall for this guy surely. Then you can’t blame me, huh! But I don’t even know if he is an old geezer or not.”

Rose already started thinking weird things. What would you expect from a young maiden who had been treated with malice since she was ten years old and suddenly found someone who didn’t have any threatening aura and was so much fun to spend time with?

The meal was finished. Both of them came out from the restaurant.

Ethan looked at her.

”Do you want to go anywhere else or eat anything else?”

”No, let’s go. Tomorrow we will go to the hunter guild.” She shook her head.

”Okay.”

Then they went to their rooms. Ethan started his cultivation session. He wanted to break through as fast as possible.

The night was over.

He didn’t break through last night; it would take one more night to break through.

He went in front of her door and knocked on it.

One minute later, Rose opened the door.

It turned out she had woken up earlier and already taken her bath and gotten ready.

Ethan could see intense excitement in her eyes.

”Okay, let’s go. We will have our breakfast first, then we will go to the hunter guild.”

Rose nodded her head and started going forward alone, leaving Ethan behind.

Ethan could only shake his head and follow her.

After finishing breakfast, they went toward the hunter guild.

Ethan wanted her to awaken her talent; if not, becoming powerful would be very difficult here.

Because every world had its own power-up system. And this world had the Hunter system.

But if she couldn’t, then he would have to teach her the demon slaying breathing technique.

They took a horse carriage to arrive at the guild.

The hunter guild was far more grand than the adventurer guild.

Ethan and Rose were about to enter, but the guards stopped them.

”What is your purpose for coming here?” one of the guards asked.

”She will go through her awakening process. I am her mentor.”

After Ethan told them his reason, they let them enter the guild.

There would be three sessions of awakening in a month in the guild.

The guild master personally oversaw this process, and today happened to be the day of the awakening.

Anyone under twenty years old could go through this process.

Ethan wanted to watch the full awakening process if that was allowed. Rose was nervous.

”Ethan, do you think I will be able to awaken a talent?” Rose asked with a sad tone. She was remembering how her own father wanted to throw her into the pit of hell just to satisfy her brother, who had awakened as a hunter.

Ethan patted her head. ”Don’t worry. I think you will, but even if you don’t, I’ll make you so powerful that no one would be able to hurt you anymore.”

Rose felt a sweetness in her chest when she heard this.

”Thank you,” she muttered slowly.

Ethan just smiled. But he was also worried. If she didn’t awaken as a hunter, it would be tough for her to become powerful with the demon slayer techniques.

”Let’s see. But I think she will. Rose surely has a deeper background. So her talent in each soul fragment should be enough to make her a prodigy,” Ethan thought in his mind. This was a strong hunch of his.

”You need to pay 50,000 coins to go through the awakening process. After depositing the money, fill up this form,” a bulky man was instructing everyone at the reception.

There was a long line of people there. Ethan also stood in the line. Rose was sitting in a waiting chair nearby.

”The money needed for the process is huge. Only wealthy people could go through the process, I see.”

A young man in front of Ethan was muttering to himself. Soon everyone was finished, and it was Ethan’s turn to fill the form.

He didn’t know Rose’s full name and didn’t try to find out either.

So he wrote the last name of the other Rose in the form, Rose Leslie.

After finishing the form, he came to Rose.

”Our number is 36. The process would take around 10 minutes each, so it would need 6 hours before it is our turn. Let’s go out. You need to do some exercise before the awakening process.”

The talent of a person was fixed. Its level, however, was not fixed. It depended on the person’s bloodline, physical strength, and luck.

So Ethan gave Rose a 6-hour training session to make her strong enough so that she could awaken a powerful talent.

The talents were divided into tiers:

Basic Talent

Intermediate Talent

Higher Talent

Top Talent

Legendary Talent

Epic Talent

Mythical Talent

Supreme Talent

Ultimate Talent

These were the nine talents of this world. The higher the talent, the higher the potential.

They came to a park, and Ethan taught her the light elemental breathing technique. This version of Rose had the light elemental affinity.

”Sit down here and close your eyes. Then follow the instructions in the technique and breathe deeply. You should be able to do it after 10 to 100 tries.”

Rose didn’t ask any questions. For some reason, she trusted the man very much and knew he wouldn’t do any harm to her.

So Rose followed the instructions and tried to breathe accordingly.

Instantly her body got the rhythm, and she could feel that she was becoming stronger.

Ethan was surprised that Rose succeeded on her very first try.

”Good job. Now continue this process for one hour.”

Ethan was closely observing her while she was doing it. The breathing technique was synchronizing with her every passing moment.

It was doing wondrously well. Every cell was getting powerful. Ethan put his hand on her back and started giving her pure energy.

It would be millions of times faster to use this method to make her powerful. Ethan’s energy didn’t have any side effects, so it was safe for her to absorb.

After one hour, each of her cells was saturated to their limit.

Rose opened her eyes.

”Ethan, I think I have become very powerful.”

Ethan handed over a sword to her.

”Wanna try your newfound strength? Now use the attack method from the breathing technique.”

Rose took the sword instinctively with a super-fast reflex.

”Okay.”

Ethan also brought out a sword of his own. It would be faster if she used battle to digest the energy. Then he would go through another energy session. In 6 hours, she would absorb energy for 3 hours and battle for 2 hours and 50 minutes to digest the energy.

She used Light Breathing First Form to attack Ethan. Ethan defended the attack but didn’t attack back.

Rose was moving at lightning-fast speed to attack Ethan from different directions. It was almost like she had battled through countless fights, as if she were a veteran.

After one hour of battling, Ethan stopped her.

”Okay, it is time for another energy absorbing session.”

Rose nodded and sat down again.

Five hours had passed, one hour left before it would be her time to go through the awakening process.

She was very, very strong now, as strong as a Martial Emperor.

Even Ethan was astonished. Her cells were like black holes; they would absorb energy and digest it, becoming super powerful in each session.

After only three hours, she was standing on the pinnacle of Tier 0.

Ethan heaved a sigh of relief. Now, even if she couldn’t awaken a talent, it wouldn’t be a problem to make her stronger.

Though it would only be her fleshly body and not her spirit, Ethan would find some way to make her spirit stronger if she failed.

”Let’s go.”

Only twenty minutes left.

They were not far from the hunter guild, so it took them only five minutes to arrive at the guild.

After they entered, Ethan saw people were discussing the earlier candidates.

It seemed like only one person had awakened, and that was a middle-tier talent.

”This time, there were far fewer people than before who had awakened. Sigh! I don’t know what will happen to me.”

It was the same man who was talking to himself before. He was the 35th candidate, one position before Rose.

It was now that young man’s turn to go through the process.

Everybody could see the process. It was not a secret or anything.

The man sat in a circle, and the guild master, who was a middle-aged man, touched the white orb at the side and started inputting energy into it.

The orb was changing color. From red to violet of the rainbow were seven ranks, then white and golden were the last two colors for the highest-graded talents.
