Chapter 228: Inheritance trial

As soon as he accepted the offer, his spaceship was sucked inside the portal.

Ethan closed his eyes as a blinding light fell on them.

When he opened his eyes again, he was inside a planet.

His spaceship was floating in the air.

But he was not alone. Countless spaceships, flying vessels, and floating people were present in the sky.

There were people on the ground too. They were all young men and women from different species and races.

They were all waiting for something.

While waiting, Ethan asked Po to scan the other spaceships to learn if those were more advanced than his or not.

Po closed his eyes and instantly opened them again, ”Boss, I messed up. The spaceship beside us had a higher generation AI than me and it sensed me. I think the owner might come to cause trouble, I am sorry boss.”

Ethan was surprised. Po was a 30th generation AI, and still there was a more advanced AI than Po?

Ethan said, ”Don’t worry, I will handle everything. But can you scan the other spaceships?”

Po became ashamed, ”About that, boss. Actually I scanned all the spaceships and I am the lowest quality here. So all those owners might come to ask for answers.”

Ethan was shocked and speechless at the same time. The moment he arrived, he became a public enemy by trying to pry into others’ privacy with his puny little AI, who was the poorest here.

Ethan himself was embarrassed. He wanted to find a hole and hide inside it.

While he was thinking about this, he heard a knock outside his spaceship.

”Owner of this garbage spaceship. Come out this instant and answer my questions, otherwise, it will be very bad for you,” a man with a highly advanced battle suit and head-covered helmet was standing in the air beside his spaceship.

Sigh. They took action faster than necessary. The man was a Tier 10 life form.

Ethan was just about to go out when a huge projection appeared in the sky.

So he stopped and looked at the weird creature. The man outside his spaceship also looked at it.

It was a green-skinned, animal-headed, human-shaped creature.

”Welcome all the chosen ones. You have been chosen throughout different realities. I am the spirit of this secret realm. My master, Christopher Jones, was a Tier 25 existence.

He created this secret realm to choose a successor for the inheritance he left behind.

The trial will be conducted in 3 parts. There will be real death, so if you want to quit, do it right now. If you stay here, you will have to play until the end or die. Any questions?”

Someone asked, ”What are the 3 levels and what do we have to do?”

The spirit replied, ”This will only be disclosed to you if you participate in the trial.”

Then another one asked, ”How did you choose these people? Based on what criterion? I mean if a Tier 24 is going to participate with us, we might as well quit.”

This was a good question. Everyone looked toward the projection curiously.

It said, ”Everyone here is under 500 years old and if there is someone who turned Tier 24 in 500 years, then sure, you can quit. But I can assure you, there is no one like that.”

When they heard this, they heaved a sigh of relief. If age was the only consideration, then they were sure there should not be someone stronger than them throughout the 3rd dimension.

Then nobody asked any more questions and nobody chose to leave.

The inheritance of a Tier 25 was a matter of highest importance even in the supreme families, races, and clans in every reality throughout the 3rd dimension.

And the people who were chosen here were protagonist-level people with great destiny.

After giving them 1 minute to decide, the spirit started talking again, ”It seems no one left. Now I will tell you the rules.”

”1st stage: All your power will be sealed, including your physical power. You will turn into a normal person without any power.

And no external advanced weapons are allowed, they will also be turned off. Only cold weapons may be used.

You will have to survive here for 5 days. If you kill a person, 1% of your power will be unsealed, so you have to kill 100 people to unseal your full power. With the unsealed power you will be able to manage to get, you will enter the next phase. The rules of the 2nd stage will be disclosed after the end of the 1st stage.

Okay, you may hide, you may kill, you can do whatever you want to survive. Good luck.”

The spirit vanished.

As soon as he vanished, Ethan felt all his power, including his physical and mental attributes, was now sealed. He also lost his connection to his shadow realm, so his shadow would not be able to help him either.

”Hey system, can a Tier 25 really seal my power?”

[Master, if you want, I can unseal the power now. Do you want me to do it?]

Only then did he feel secure. That was a good thing.

”No, that’s alright.”

He wanted to play the game. It sounded fun to him.

Losing all his power and using his brain to survive here was a new thing for him.

Even when he first awakened and faced monsters, he was never a normal person, he always had many trump cards under his sleeves.

But now he was totally powerless. It would be exciting.

But when he was thinking, he heard Po’s voice, ”Boss, the spaceship lost its power, we are falling down. What should we do?”

He was panicked because Ethan was now powerless and if he fell from this height, he would be gone.

Only then did Ethan realize the problem.

”Give me a parachute.” There was everything necessary for him in the spaceship.

Then he came out from the spaceship and put that in his space ring.

And he opened the parachute bag.

He saw many people free-falling from the sky and they were using different methods to land on the ground.

Ethan looked at their faces, they were not ready for this sudden fall.

But every one of them was a prodigy and managed to think quickly.

Then Ethan looked at the ground and cursed,

”Shit!”

Because there were some people already on the ground and they were now aiming bows at the people who were falling from the sky.

Ethan immediately took out a sword from his storage ring and got positioned.

He would cut down any arrow that might come toward him.

He never thought one day he would have to rely on a mortal weapon to survive, but he was getting excited.

Hugh. An arrow came toward him and he cut it down instantly.

Then more and more came, not specifically aimed at him, those below were shooting aimlessly nonstop.

Because thousands of them were falling from the sky.

After battling like this in midair for some time, they finally fell to the ground.

Ethan did not waste any time and sliced one of them.

Though he could not use any sword skills, he could use basic sword art without any power amplification.

Unlike those people who were born high and mighty and lived for 500 years, Ethan had embarked on the road of power not long ago.

So losing his power did not make him utterly vulnerable all of a sudden.

Though not everyone was the same. Ethan already noticed many of them were handling the situation with great smoothness.

But Ethan’s attack was swiftly blocked and that man counter-attacked him.

Ethan was surprised but not much. They were all prodigies after all.

There was a mess now. Everyone was attacking anyone they could.

Ethan and his opponent engaged in battle. The opponent was using an axe.

Ethan felt the sword would not cut it.

So he returned to his roots and used the hand-to-hand combat style he created before, ”Heavenly Asura.”

The moment he started using the technique, the battle shifted in his favor. His movements became unpredictable and deadly.

The axe man could not land any hits but kept getting struck every now and then.

Ethan was fighting extremely fast. But then he felt his stamina burning down, a feeling he never experienced after embarking on the path of power.

”I need to finish the fight and kill him. Even one percent of my full power would be enough to mop the ground with these people.”

And he did. He suddenly pulled an unpredictable move.

He attacked with a bare hand, which made the opponent lower his guard a bit, and Ethan used that to his favor. When his hand was about to land on the man, he used the space ring to bring out a dagger.

The dagger penetrated his opponent’s gut and he used another to slice the neck.

The man was dead.

After killing one person, instantly one percent of his power returned.

He now had 120,000 cosmos power, which was more than enough to sweep through this entire trial.
