Flash Marriage: Pampered by Mr.Bigshot

Chapter 1314: Chapter 1313: I Don’t Want to See You

Her weak voice transmitted through the receiver to his ear, making Owen’s heart tremble suddenly.

”Are you... feeling unwell?”

Annie opened her eyes and glanced at the caller ID. As expected, it was him.

”Say what you want directly, we’re not in a relationship for casual chats.”

Annie didn’t choose to hang up on him right away; perhaps this unintentional action revealed her heart.

”The boss wants you to investigate Molly Harguez’s factory fire case.”

Fire?

Annie was stunned. She’d been in a daze these past few days and wasn’t even aware that Molly Harguez’s factory caught fire.

”Mm.”

”If you’re really not feeling well, just don’t look into it.”

Owen Lewis was truly worried about her, and immediately said so.

”Owen Lewis, does what you’re saying make any sense?”

She abruptly hung up the phone, sat up straight from the bed, and picked up the computer beside her.

The computer was never turned off, and soon her fingers were flying across the keyboard.

Investigating through the internet was what Annie was good at. If she couldn’t find anything, then there was no one around Maxwell Peary who could.

Time flew by rapidly, and when Owen Lewis walked into the ward, he saw the IV in Annie’s right hand had swollen, with a huge bump on the back of her hand.

Yet Annie seemed completely unaware, still incessantly typing on the computer.

”Annie!”

Seeing her not caring for herself, Owen Lewis immediately spoke out and took strides to her side.

Startled, Annie turned her head and saw him slowly walking in with the sunlight at the ward’s entrance.

He still hadn’t changed a bit, making it hard not to be mesmerized by his appearance.

It wasn’t until Owen Lewis reached out and pulled out her IV that she realized her right hand had a swollen lump.

A twinge of pain came through; she broke free from Owen Lewis’s grasp, extended her left hand to press on the needle hole, stopping the bleeding.

”Why are you here?”

Since the incident with Silvia Waterborne, she had rushed back from a remote small hospital.

She didn’t return afterward but instead received treatment in a major hospital in Capital Town.

Her physical condition was generally decent, just that these injuries were too severe, coupled with lack of nutrition and not taking good care of herself.

That’s why, even after so long, there was no significant improvement.

Her complexion grew increasingly pale, making people think she was suffering from a serious illness.

”You should be grateful I’m here, otherwise you’d still be on the drip.”

Annie was startled by his words, then immediately wiped all expressions off her face.

”It’s not like it’s going to be fatal anyway.”

These things weren’t really a big deal at all.

The bleeding stopped, Annie discarded the alcohol swab, then resumed her incessant typing on the computer.

This matter was really tricky, and she was still clueless at this point.

”Look at your complexion, just rest for a while. Besides, haven’t you already resigned?”

Since she resigned, Maxwell Peary’s matters had nothing to do with her anymore.

Thus, Annie didn’t need to disregard her own health over this issue.

”I want to, what does it have to do with you? Owen Lewis, you are the least welcome here. When we divorced, we made things crystal clear. From now on, there’s no need to contact each other anymore. Are you still hoping to be good friends with me?”
