Global Survival: I Got the D-Rank Personnel Simulator

Delving Into the Deep World

”To be honest, we don’t know much about the deep world either. The deeper you go, the higher the concentration of Special Ability, and the more severe the effects.”

The black-robed leader gazed out the window, where some strange silhouettes stood outside the building, staring back at them.

”Can’t these runes block Special Ability? Could we use them to enter deeper layers of the world?”

Eve looked at the bizarre blood-red runes on the wall and asked.

”...These runes are connected to a survivor transformed by Special Ability. Her condition is very poor, and every time she inscribes a rune, it takes a toll on her.”

The black-robed leader hesitated for a moment before finally answering Eve’s question.

”We don’t need these runes. The Special Ability tide outside is about to dissipate, so we won’t bother you any longer.”

Lin Ye hopped over to the door and used spiritual energy to open it.

”It’s dangerous out there. You’d better stay here. As for eliminating the cult, we can plan it out carefully.”

The black-robed leader hadn’t expected Lin Ye to leave so soon.”You’d better take care of yourselves. I’ll handle the cult side of things.”

This interstitial world was far too troublesome. Lin Ye had no intention of relying on these people’s strength.

”Thank you for the information.”

Eve bowed her head slightly and followed Lin Ye out of the abandoned building.

”Where are we going now?”

Eve hurried along behind Lin Ye. The Special Ability tide hadn’t stopped yet, and after leaving the black-robed figures’ base, she finally felt what it was like to be inside the tide itself.

”To a deeper world. I plan to find a deep world to establish a base. The Deep Well Substance concentration here is too low. If we want the base to be stable enough, we need to keep going deeper.”

Lin Ye intended to establish a spider web base in a deep world with a high enough concentration of Deep Well Substance, so the base could use that substance to grow rapidly.

Fortunately, he had played it safe when he first arrived. If he had established the spider web base directly in the Surface Layer world, it would have been very difficult for it to influence the deep worlds.

”How do we get to a deeper world? My ability only lets me switch between two worlds.”

Eve was ready to go to a deeper world with Lin Ye.

”No, your ability actually lets you switch between worlds of different depths. The reason you couldn’t do it before was that you didn’t have enough Deep Well Substance in your body. I’ll help you collect enough of it, and then we can enter deeper worlds.”

Lin Ye understood her ability better than she did herself.

”Then where do we go to collect Deep Well Substance?”

Eve glanced up at the unstable, crumbling yellowish sky above. This place gave her a very bad feeling.

”No need to go anywhere else. The creatures carrying Deep Well Substance will come to us on their own.”

Lin Ye stopped in place, and several bizarrely shaped figures were approaching them from different directions.

Lin Ye didn’t even need to lift a finger. Every approaching Deep Well creature stepped right into the rune traps laid nearby.

Deep Well Substance affected the precision of mental energy when controlling spiritual energy, which meant Lin Ye couldn’t directly alienate parasitic organisms inside his enemies’ bodies. But that didn’t stop him from setting up rune traps.

However, the deeper they went into this interstitial world, the higher the concentration of Deep Well Substance in the environment would become, and the lower the spiritual energy concentration would drop. After that, he might not have it this easy.

Under Lin Ye’s control, the corpses rich in Deep Well Substance gathered around Eve. She activated her ability and successfully opened a passageway into a deeper world.

Lin Ye was the first to step through the passage. The moment he entered the deep world, a massive surge of Deep Well Substance flooded into his body.

Fortunately, he had modified his body in advance to adapt to Deep Well Substance, or he would have had to spend time repairing himself.

Eve, on the other hand, seemed completely fine. She appeared even more suited to this environment than Lin Ye.

”Do we keep going deeper?”

Eve looked around. They were surrounded by wasteland, with no trace of any remaining city in sight.

”We keep going deeper. This place isn’t good enough yet.”

Lin Ye used mental energy to sense the surroundings. Even with the interference of Deep Well Substance, he could still accurately perceive everything within a hundred meters.

”Do we need to go find those monsters?”

Eve wasn’t sure where to look for them.

”No need. I’ve set up some rune traps nearby. Once we’ve collected enough Deep Well Substance, we’ll move on to the next deep world.

Too bad there’s no Special Ability tide here, or this could’ve gone a lot faster.”

Lin Ye idly rolled across the ground a few times. He still didn’t have a way to gather Deep Well Substance directly. Otherwise, he wouldn’t need to hunt those Deep Well creatures at all. He could just absorb the Deep Well Substance from the environment the same way he used spiritual energy.

”...Can I hold you like before?”

Eve sat down next to Lin Ye. After hesitating for a moment, she asked nervously.

After her family died, only the flesh ball had been by her side. Holding it gave her a sense of comfort.

”Sure. This creature’s true body consciousness is extremely weak. I’ll strengthen it before I leave, so it should be able to understand you a little better in the future.”

Lin Ye wasn’t about to fight a flesh ball for control of its own body.

”Thank you.”

Eve struggled a bit to lift Lin Ye. After his modifications, the flesh ball had become noticeably heavier.

”You’re welcome.”

Before long, Lin Ye had collected enough corpses. These bodies contained ample Deep Well Substance within them.

Several flesh balls pushed the corpses over to Eve and broke down the tissue structures rich in Deep Well Substance inside them.

Eve used the nearby Deep Well Substance to open a passage to the next deep world.

The two of them kept moving to deeper and deeper worlds. At first, Lin Ye could still use rune traps to kill those Deep Well creatures, but later, he could only rely on his body to collect Deep Well Substance.

’Good thing I occasionally study close-combat techniques. Otherwise, this would’ve been a real problem.’

Lin Ye kept modifying his body structure, trying to use the Deep Well Substance in his system as if it were spiritual energy. Even so, he was barely managing to deal with the increasingly powerful Deep Well creatures.

To him, Deep Well Substance was nowhere near as convenient as spiritual energy.

”Do we keep going deeper?”

Eve looked at the wounds on Lin Ye’s body and asked with concern.

”It is getting a bit much. Let’s just set up the base on the next layer. We should be able to open a passage using the Deep Well Substance inside this corpse.”

As they descended further, Eve needed to consume more and more Deep Well Substance to open passages to deeper worlds.

Lin Ye quickly treated his wounds, and Eve successfully opened the passage to the next deep world.

Every time they passed through a passage, a huge amount of Deep Well Substance surged into Lin Ye’s body. He had long since gotten used to it.
