The Snake God with SSS Rank Evolution System

Adam moved without hesitation, his body flowing into the heart of Isolde’s blood field. His fist slammed into a rising wave of crimson, dispersing it into a spray of dark droplets. Another punch shattered a forming tendril before it could fully take shape.

Isolde’s eyes narrowed. Her hands wove through the air, and the blood around her answered. It rose, twisting, coalescing into a massive, humanoid form—a Blood Golem—its body rippling with hardened crimson muscle, its fists raised to crush.

Adam met it head-on.

His fist drove into the golem’s chest, and the impact sent shockwaves rippling through its form. Cracks spider-webbed across its surface, and with a second, heavier blow, it shattered into a cascade of crimson shards.

Adam stepped through the falling blood, his eyes locked on Isolde.

Isolde didn’t falter. Her hands rose again, and the blood that had scattered across the clearing answered her call. It condensed, hardened, forming a single, massive spear—dense, gleaming, its tip sharp enough to pierce dragon scales.

She hurled it.

The spear shot toward Adam with devastating speed. He twisted, the projectile passing inches from his face, close enough that he felt the wind of its passage ruffle his hair.

Adam’s lips curved into a wry, breathless grin. ”Hah... almost turned me into a kebab.”

Before he could fully recover, the blood around him surged—a sphere of crimson that rose and enclosed him, trapping him in a dome of hardened fluid. The walls pressed inward, tightening, trying to crush him.

Adam’s eyes narrowed. He planted his feet, drawing on his power. Dark energy coiled around his fist, and he drove it forward, not as a punch, but as a release—a concentrated burst of prismatic light that erupted from his palm.

”[Prismatic Beam]!”

The beam tore through the blood dome, shattering it into a spray of crimson mist. Adam stepped through the gap, his chest heaving, his crimson eyes blazing.

But Lilith was already in position.

Her threads shot forward, not as individual strands, but as a dense, woven net—a web of razor-sharp silk that expanded as it flew, curling around Adam from all sides. The threads formed a cage, then tightened, the edges pressing against his scales.

Adam moved to evade. ”[Ghostwalk]!”

His body flickered, beginning to phase through the threads—but he stopped. His eyes widened. The threads had already closed around him. He was too slow.

The silk bit into him, carving shallow lines across his arms, his chest, his sides. Pain lanced through him, sharp and immediate.

Adam stumbled, a sharp hiss escaping his lips. ”Gagh—!”

[Eternal Cycle Activated.]

[Regeneration initiated. Wounds beginning to seal.]

He fell to one knee, his hand pressed against the gash across his ribs, a grim chuckle escaping his lips.

”Heh... guess you got me.”

He forced himself to breathe, to push past the sting of the cuts.

And as he knelt there, the clarity cut through him like a blade.

’That’s it. I’ve been trying to force these pieces together. To make them fit. But they’re not supposed to fit. They’re supposed to coexist. To work together without needing to become one.’

His gaze lifted, meeting Lilith’s and Isolde’s.

’I think... I understand now. The fragments don’t need to be harmonized. They just need to stop fighting each other.’

Adam’s breaths slowed, deepening into a steady, deliberate rhythm. The pain from the wounds faded, the Eternal Cycle already knitting flesh and sealing gashes. But more than that—something else was shifting. A stillness settled over him, a quiet clarity that cut through the chaos of his thoughts.

Lilith’s crimson eyes narrowed, a flicker of recognition passing through them. Her voice dropped, low and knowing.

”...He’s understanding it.”

Isolde’s blade lowered slightly, her pale blue eyes studying Adam’s posture with quiet assessment. A faint, approving smile touched her lips.

”Good. I didn’t want to hurt him again.”

Lilith’s smile widened, sharp and unrepentant, a note of dark satisfaction curling through her voice.

”I hurt him because I knew he wouldn’t die from it. But I won’t lie—I enjoyed it. There’s something satisfying about seeing him bleed.”

Isolde shot her a flat, pointed look, her voice carrying a dry edge.

”You should fix that attitude of yours, Lilith. It’s going to get you into trouble one day.”

Adam’s lips curved into a faint, distant smile as he stood in the center of the clearing, his eyes closed, his breathing slow and measured. The world around him had faded, the sounds of the clearing, the presence of Lilith and Isolde, the warmth of the morning sun, all of it had receded, leaving him alone with the fragments within.

A familiar chime echoed through his consciousness as the system interface flickered to life before him.

[Manifestation State Detected – Soul Resonance Active]

[Host consciousness is currently in a state of heightened awareness. Initiating Skill Tree Harmonization.]

[Detected Skill Fragments: 67]

[Chaos Index: 73% – High Instability Detected]

Adam’s internal voice was quiet, steady.

’So that’s what’s been wrong. I’ve been trying to force them into a single shape. But they’re not meant to be one thing—they’re meant to coexist. To flow together without merging.’

He reached out, his awareness brushing against the fragments. They swirled around him like a storm of light and shadow, each one distinct, each one carrying its own weight. He didn’t try to grab them, didn’t try to force them to fit. He simply let them flow, let them settle into their own patterns, their own rhythms.

The chaos began to quiet.

[Chaos Index: 73% → 58%]

[Harmonization Progress: 15%]

Adam’s voice was barely a whisper, his awareness reaching deeper.

’This is the path. Not to make them one, but to let them be themselves.’

[Chaos Index: 58% → 42%]

[Harmonization Progress: 42%]

A wave of pressure crashed down on Adam’s consciousness—a weight that pressed against his skull, his thoughts, his very sense of self. His body went rigid, his jaw clenching as the Harmonization process surged forward.

[Warning: Mental Strain Detected. Host consciousness is under significant pressure. Recommend immediate withdrawal.]

Adam’s internal voice was strained, but steady.

’I can’t stop now. I’m too close.’

[Chaos Index: 42% → 31%]

[Harmonization Progress: 67% → 78%]

[Warning: Soul Integrity Fluctuating. Host is approaching critical threshold.]

Pain lanced through him—sharp, searing, relentless. It felt as if every fragment of skill within him was being pulled, stretched, and reforged. His vision swam. His thoughts fragmented and reformed, each wave more intense than the last.

[Iron Will – Activated]

A surge of cold clarity cut through the haze. The pain didn’t fade, but it became bearable. Manageable. Adam’s mind, battered and tested, began to adapt.

[Iron Will (Lv. 9) → Iron Will (MAX)]

[Skill Evolution Detected: Iron Will → Adamant Soul]

[Adamant Soul (Passive)]

[Effect: The user’s mental fortitude has been forged through relentless pressure and pain. Immunity to mental attacks, fear, and psychic manipulation is now absolute. The user’s will is unbreakable, and their presence exerts a subtle pressure on weaker minds, causing hesitation and doubt in enemies.]

The pain subsided, settling into a distant hum. Adam’s breathing steadied. The fragments within him continued to swirl, but they no longer fought against each other. They moved in a fluid, natural rhythm—a dance of light and shadow.

Isolde’s voice carried a note of quiet observation, her pale blue eyes fixed on Adam’s face.

”This might take a while.”

Lilith’s smile was soft, genuine, her crimson eyes gleaming with approval.

”Then we wait. There’s no rush.”

--------×--------

In Myrta, within a partially rebuilt building, the dim glow of candlelight cast long shadows across the room. Dust motes drifted through the air, disturbed by the occasional creak of old wood settling.

Wincenth sat behind a worn wooden desk, his metal fingers drumming a slow, deliberate rhythm against the surface. Across from him, seated in a rickety chair with an air of weary patience, was Gill.

The silver-framed glasses glinted in the candlelight as Gill adjusted them, his eyes scanning the room with quiet, calculating interest. A faint, tired smile tugged at the corner of his lips.

”You’ve made quite a mess of things, Wincenth.”

Wincenth’s metal fingers stilled. His voice was smooth, carrying a note of cold amusement.

”I’m not the one who’s been hiding in the shadows, Archivist. You’re the one who’s been avoiding the light.”

Gill leaned back, his voice carrying a note of dry, measured amusement.

”Shadow, light—it’s all the same when you’re trying to survive. I thought you understood that.” A pause. ”So tell me—what’s so important that you had to drag me out of my carefully chosen obscurity?”

Wincenth’s lips curved into a thin smile.

”The dragon.”

Gill let out a long, weary sigh, rubbing the bridge of his nose beneath his silver-framed glasses. His voice carried the particular exhaustion of a man who had been dragged into a mess he had actively tried to avoid.

”Sigh... I told you—I don’t want to deal with dragons.”

Wincenth’s metal fingers resumed their slow, deliberate drumming against the worn wooden desk. His voice was smooth, carrying a note of pointed amusement.

”And yet, here you are. Sitting in my office. Talking to me. That sounds like involvement to me, Archivist.”

Gill’s grey eyes narrowed behind his lenses. His voice dropped, a cold edge cutting through his weary tone.

”I’m here because you gave me no choice. You made sure I couldn’t leave this city without being noticed. You’ve made it very clear that my options are either to cooperate or to disappear.” He paused, his voice hardening. ”That’s not involvement. That’s coercion.”

Wincenth’s smile didn’t waver. His metal fingers stilled, and he leaned back in his chair, studying Gill with cold, patient amusement.

”Coercion is such an ugly word. I prefer to think of it as... mutual benefit. You have knowledge I need. I have resources you require. It’s a simple exchange.”

Gill let out a dry, humorless laugh, shaking his head slowly as he adjusted his glasses.

”You have a strange definition of ’simple,’ Wincenth. And an even stranger definition of ’benefit.’”

Wincenth’s smile widened, a flicker of cold satisfaction passing through his eyes.

”Perhaps. But you’re still here. That tells me you’re not as opposed to this arrangement as you pretend to be.”

Gill was silent for a long moment. Then he let out a slow, measured breath, his voice dropping to a quiet, resigned murmur.

”Fine. What do you want to know?”
