The Snake God with SSS Rank Evolution System

The group descended the winding staircase into the second floor. The walls were lined with faded murals depicting battles and rituals, their colors long since bleached by time.

The second floor was a maze of narrow corridors and cramped chambers, the walls slick with moisture and veined with faintly glowing crystals that pulsed in erratic rhythms.

Then the shadows moved.

From the cracks in the walls, from the gaps between the stones, creatures began to emerge. They had no fixed shape—their bodies were formed of shifting, iridescent slime that rippled and flowed like liquid glass. Multiple eyes blinked across their surfaces, each one a different color, each one tracking the group with unnerving synchronization.

[Shardlings – Lv. 52]

[Amorphous entities born from crystallized mana and ancient corruption. Their bodies are semi-solid, capable of shifting between liquid and glass-like states. They attack by launching hardened shards of their own flesh, and their touch can cause localized crystallization.]

Azrynn’s arrow pierced one, but the creature simply rippled around the projectile, absorbing it into its mass. It reformed, its body hardening into jagged, crystalline spikes that launched toward her in a deadly volley.

”Tch!” Azrynn dove aside, the shards shattering against the stone wall behind her.

Ignis’s flames roared to life, searing through two of the Shardlings. They hissed, their forms fracturing and reforming, but the heat was too intense—they began to sublimate, their bodies crumbling into glittering dust.

Lilith’s threads wrapped around a third Shardling, squeezing, but the creature’s liquid form oozed through the gaps, reforming behind her. Its surface hardened into a blade-like spike, slashing toward her back.

Isolde’s blood intercepted it, a crimson tendril wrapping around the Shardling’s form and pulsing with dark energy. The creature convulsed, its body shattering into a thousand glittering fragments.

From the ceiling above, a cluster of pale, moth-like creatures detached themselves, their wings beating in an eerie, synchronized rhythm. They had no eyes—only a single, central mouth that opened and closed with a wet, chattering sound. Their bodies were covered in fine, luminescent scales that scattered the light into a hundred tiny rainbows.

[Luminous Wraithmoths – Lv. 52]

[Creatures of the deep dungeon that feed on residual mana and fear. Their scales produce a hallucinogenic dust that can induce confusion and paralysis. They are drawn to light and magic, and they attack by swarming their prey and suffocating them with their dust.]

One of the moths detached from the cluster, its wings fluttering as it descended toward Azrynn. A cloud of fine, glittering dust drifted from its wings, and Azrynn’s vision blurred. Her bow wavered in her grip, her limbs growing heavy.

”Ghh... my body... feels strange...”

Alice’s shadow claws lashed out, tearing through the moth before it could release more dust. She grabbed Azrynn’s arm, pulling her back.

”Don’t breathe that stuff in! It’s some kind of poison!”

Lilith’s threads shot upward, weaving a net of silver silk that caught the remaining moths in mid-flight. Their wings beat frantically, but the threads held, constricting, crushing. One by one, they fell, their bodies crumpling into lifeless heaps.

Ignis’s flames surged, consuming the last of the Shardlings, their crystalline forms melting into pools of shimmering liquid that evaporated into the air.

Adam’s voice carried a note of dry amusement as he surveyed the carnage.

”Well... that was certainly more interesting than the first floor.”

Alice’s ears twitched, her dark violet eyes scanning the shadows.

”This dungeon really knows how to welcome guests.”

The group moved through the second floor cutting down the remaining Shardlings and Wraithmoths as they advanced.

They reached the boss room without further incident.

Adam pushed open the massive stone door, revealing a wide, circular chamber. At its center stood a hulking, irregular mass of flesh and bone—a twisted amalgamation of multiple creatures fused together by the dungeon’s corrupting influence. Its limbs were mismatched, its eyes scattered across its body in no discernible pattern, and its movements were jerky, uncoordinated.

[The Amalgam – Lv. 61]

[A failed experiment of the dungeon’s ancient architects. It has no natural predators and no weaknesses. It simply exists, lashing out at anything that moves.]

Adam’s lips curved into a faint smile.

”Level 61. Looks like a pile of garbage that forgot it died.”

Ignis’s flames flared with eager excitement.

”I’ll burn it!”

She lunged forward, her fist wreathed in golden fire. The Amalgam’s body convulsed, its mismatched limbs lashing out in erratic, uncoordinated swipes. Ignis weaved between them, her movements fluid and precise. Her fist connected with the creature’s central mass, and a burst of golden flames erupted from the point of impact.

The Amalgam let out a distorted, guttural roar. Its body convulsed, its limbs thrashing wildly. Lilith’s threads shot forward, wrapping around its limbs, pinning them to the ground. Alice’s shadow claws raked across its form, carving deep gouges into its corrupted flesh. Isolde’s blood surged, forming a crimson spear that drove through its core.

The Amalgam’s convulsions slowed, then stopped. Its body crumbled into a heap of ash and bone, the remnants of its failed existence scattering across the stone floor.

Azrynn lowered her bow, her yellow eyes sweeping over the remains.

”That was... anti-climactic.”

Alice’s tail swayed with disinterest as she glanced at the chest sitting in the corner of the chamber.

”Let’s just see what loot it dropped. Probably more garbage.”

She walked over and flipped the lid open with a sharp, impatient motion. Her ears flattened as she stared at the contents.

”Just a staff? Useless.”

Adam stepped forward, his crimson eyes scanning the staff with mild interest. The system’s analysis flickered across his vision.

[Staff of the Forgotten Archon – Rare]

[A staff recovered from the Dreamgrave Dungeon’s second floor. Its wood is ancient, warped, and cracked, but it still holds a faint echo of its former power. Grants a minor boost to spellcasting speed and a slight resistance to magical interference.]

Adam’s lips curved into a faint, dismissive smile.

”Not bad, but not great either. Keep it. Might be useful later.”

Alice shoved the staff into her Void Locker with a sharp, irritated motion.

The group descended the winding staircase into the third floor.

From the shadows ahead, figures emerged—humanoid in shape, but wrong in every detail. Their bodies were muscular and coated in chitinous black armor that gleamed dully in the dim light. Their faces were insectoid, mandibles twitching beneath multifaceted eyes that reflected the group’s movements with unnerving precision.

[Shadow Shell Warriors – Lv. 60]

[Elite soldiers of the Dreamgrave Dungeon’s third floor. They are constructs of chitin and dark magic, animated by the dungeon’s corrupting will. They fight with brutal efficiency and feel no pain. Their chitinous armor is resistant to physical attacks but vulnerable to fire and lightning.]

Adam’s lips curved into a faint, dismissive smile.

”They look tough, but they’re just grunts.”

Ignis didn’t wait. Her flames roared to life, and she launched herself at the nearest warrior. Her fist, wreathed in golden fire, connected with its chest—the chitin cracked, black ichor spraying from the wound. The creature stumbled back, its mandibles clicking in agitation, but it didn’t fall. It lunged forward, its blade sweeping toward Ignis’s throat.

Alice’s shadow claws intercepted the strike, dark violet energy flaring as she deflected the blade. Her tail lashed out, wrapping around the warrior’s ankle and yanking it off balance.

”Careful, Ignis. They’re tougher than they look.”

Azrynn’s bow sang, a silver arrow embedding itself in the warrior’s eye socket. The creature convulsed once, then crumpled.

Another warrior lunged at Isolde. Her blood rose to meet it, forming a crimson blade that carved through its chitinous armor. She sidestepped, her movements fluid, and drove the blade through its throat.

Lilith’s threads wrapped around a third warrior, squeezing, crushing. The chitin cracked, and the creature collapsed.

They encountered more of the insectoid warriors as they pressed deeper into the floor. Some were larger, their chitin thicker, their movements faster. But the group adapted, cutting them down one by one until the corridor fell silent.

Azrynn’s voice was calm as she examined the body of a fallen warrior.

”They don’t seem to be thinking.”

Isolde’s voice was measured, carrying a note of grim certainty.

”They’re guardians. They were placed here to protect something.”

Ignis’s flames flickered with anticipation.

”Then let’s find out what it is!”

At the end of a long, dark corridor, they reached the boss room.

Adam pushed open the massive stone door, revealing a wide, circular chamber. At its center stood a towering figure—taller than the warriors, its body covered in thicker, darker chitin that seemed to absorb the light around it. Its face was a featureless mask, save for a pair of glowing, crimson eyes. In its hands, it held a massive spear, its tip crackling with dark energy.

[Shadow Shell Lord – Lv. 63]

[Commander of the Shadow Shell Warriors. Its spear is infused with corrupting energy, and its chitin is nearly impenetrable. It is resistant to physical attacks and immune to poison. Vulnerable to fire and lightning.]

Adam’s voice carried a note of weary boredom, his crimson eyes fixed on the boss.

”Alright, let’s see what you’ve got.”

He stepped forward, the Soul Reaper’s Scythe materializing in his grip.

Ignis’s flames flared with protest.

”Hey! I want to fight it!”

Adam’s voice was calm, but carried a note of finality.

”Next time. This one’s mine.”
