The Snake God with SSS Rank Evolution System

The chamber fell into a comfortable silence as the topic of wives and chaotic women finally faded. Adam let out a long, audible sigh of relief, his shoulders sagging slightly as the tension drained from his frame.

”Alright,” he said, his voice carrying a note of renewed focus. ”How will you know when it’s safe? When the surface world is ready for your people?”

The Elder’s weathered fingers moved to a small pouch at his belt. He withdrew a single, smooth stone, no larger than a coin, its surface etched with intricate, glowing runes. The runes pulsed with a soft, rhythmic light, like a heartbeat.

”This is a Rune Stone,” the Elder said, his voice carrying a note of quiet reverence. ”It is attuned to a matching stone that Azrynn will carry with her. The runes are linked—what happens to one will be reflected in the other.”

Adam’s brow furrowed. ”So... if you crush it, she’ll know?”

The Elder shook his head slowly. ”Not exactly. The stone is not meant to be crushed. It is meant to be... observed. When Azrynn reaches the surface, she will activate her stone. The runes will glow, and we will know that she has arrived safely. But more than that—the stone will also allow us to send a message back to her.”

Adam’s eyes widened slightly. ”A message? How?”

The Elder’s lips curved into a faint, knowing smile. ”The runes are not just linked by magic—they are linked by intent. If we focus on the stone and speak our message, the words will be carried to Azrynn’s stone. She will hear them, no matter how far she is.”

Adam let out a low whistle. ”That’s... actually incredibly useful.” He paused, his expression shifting to something more thoughtful. ”But what if the surface isn’t safe? What if you stay here for years, waiting?”

Another elder, a woman with silver-streaked hair and sharp, knowing eyes, leaned forward. Her voice was calm, but carried a note of quiet reassurance.

”We have not left our people without guidance, Adam. Azrynn has been given clear instructions.”

She raised her hand, counting off on her fingers as she spoke.

”First, she is to observe the surface world and learn its ways. She will study the kingdoms, the factions, the dangers—who is friendly, who is hostile, and what threats we must prepare for.”

”Second, she is to find a safe location—a place where our people can settle without fear of immediate attack. It must have water, shelter, and enough resources to sustain us while we build our new home. She will mark this location with the Moon’s Arrow, so that we may find it when the time comes.”

”Third,” the elder continued, her voice growing firmer, ”she is to send word through the Rune Stone. If she deems the surface world safe, she will activate the stone with a specific sequence—one we have agreed upon in advance. We will know that the time has come to leave.”

”And if she deems it dangerous?” Adam asked.

The elder’s expression didn’t waver. ”Then she will send a different signal. A warning. And we will wait. We will trust her judgment, because we have trained her for this. She is not just a scout—she is our eyes and ears, our bridge to the world we have been separated from for so long.”

Adam absorbed her words, his gaze drifting to the Rune Stone still glowing faintly in the Elder’s palm.

”So she’s not just mapping the way. She’s... preparing the ground. Making sure your people don’t walk into a trap.”

The Elder nodded slowly. ”Exactly. Azrynn will ensure that when we finally step into the light, we do so with knowledge and purpose.”

Adam let out a slow breath, a faint smile tugging at his lips.

”She’s got a lot of responsibility on her shoulders.”

The silver-streaked elder’s voice softened. ”She knows. And she accepted it willingly. She believes in what we are trying to build—and she believes in you, Adam. That is why we trust her to you.”

Adam was silent for a moment, his crimson eyes meeting hers. Then he nodded slowly.

”Then I’ll make sure she gets the chance to succeed.”

The Elder’s weathered hand reached out, gesturing toward a small, ornate chest that had been placed on the stone table before them. His voice carried a note of quiet pride.

”Before you leave, Adam, we wish to offer you a gift. A token of our gratitude for all that you have done for us.”

Adam raised a hand, his expression shifting to something between polite refusal and mild discomfort. ”You don’t have to give me anything. I didn’t come here for payment.”

The Elder’s lips curved into a knowing smile. ”I expected you to say that. But please—look first. Then decide.”

He lifted the lid of the chest, revealing three items nestled within, each one radiating a faint, distinct energy.

The first was a fruit, smooth and round, its skin a pale, shimmering silver that seemed to glow faintly in the dim light. It resembled an apple, but its surface was veined with delicate, thread-like patterns that pulsed with a soft, rhythmic light.

[Fruit of the World Tree – Legendary]

[Effect: When consumed, permanently increases Vitality by 35. The fruit is imbued with the essence of the World Tree, making it one of the rarest and most potent healing artifacts in existence. It can also be used as a catalyst for high-level alchemy or enchantment.]

Adam’s breath caught. His eyes widened as the system notification scrolled across his vision.

’Wait... Vitality 35? Permanently?!’

His gaze snapped to the second item—a core, roughly the size of his fist, its surface a deep, shimmering white, like polished marble veined with threads of silver and gold.

[Core of the White Phantom Tiger – Rare]

[Effect: A core taken from a White Phantom Tiger, a legendary beast that stalked the highest peaks of the world.]

Adam’s internal voice was a low, awed whisper.

’A White Phantom Tiger....’

His gaze drifted to the third item—a small, crystalline vial filled with a golden liquid that seemed to burn with an inner fire. The light it cast was warm, almost alive, and it pulsed gently in time with the rhythm of the room.

[Essence of the Golden Flame – Mythical]

[Effect: This essence is drawn from a Golden Flame Spirit, a creature of pure elemental fire that dwells at the heart of volcanoes and the deepest forges of the earth. When consumed, it permanently increases Fire Resistance by 30% and grants the user the passive ability: Golden Ember—allowing the user to ignite their weapons or body with golden flames that deal bonus damage to undead and shadow-touched enemies. Can also be used as a catalyst for forging legendary weapons or armor.]

Adam’s mouth went dry.

’Golden Flame Spirit... that’s a mythical rank creature. I’ve never even seen one. And they just... have its essence sitting in a box?’

His gaze flicked between the three items, his mind racing.

’These are insane. The Fruit alone is worth a fortune. The Core and Essence... I could use them to make myself so much stronger.’

The Elder’s voice drifted over, warm with amusement. ”I see you are interested after all.”
