Martial Dao: Peace by Force

Chapter 164: Chapter 128: He Has Come, Like a God!

[Stealing Celestial Secret: Magic Sense 7%]

Just as Wan Ze pulled his hand back...

A piercing alarm suddenly blared from outside the warehouse.

Zhai Jia’s expression shifted slightly. His first thought was that they’d been exposed.

His hand was already reaching for the dagger at his waist, his eyes scanning the entrance, ready to strike at any moment.

But strangely, the footsteps weren’t heading toward them.

Instead, they were growing more distant.

Zhai Jia froze.

”What the hell? What’s going on?”

He looked at Wan Ze, his eyes filled with questions.

Wan Ze shook his head slightly, but his hands didn’t stop. He quickly touched the remaining old objects on the shelves, skimming off some Tiger and Wolf Momentum as he whispered, ”My guess is they’re having internal problems... It probably isn’t Brother Yu. Considering the distance and the time it took for you to notify him... he couldn’t have snuck in this fast.”

Zhai Jia clicked his tongue in amazement, leaning in to mutter, ”Then what could it be? Infighting? Or did someone else sneak in, just like us?”

Wan Ze didn’t answer.

Almost all of his attention was on the old objects in his hands. The little that remained was focused on picking up the commotion outside.

The alarm was still wailing, but it was now mixed with shouts...

But it wasn’t the sound of a pursuit. It was more like... chaos.

”BANG!!!”

”THUD!!!!”

A muffled crash echoed from the distance, like something heavy smashing against metal.

Zhai Jia frowned. ”That sound...”

Before he could finish, the warehouse door was violently shoved open from the outside.

A guard in work clothes burst in, clutching an extendable baton.

He froze for a second when he saw Wan Ze and Zhai Jia, then subconsciously asked, ”How did you get in here?”

Zhai Jia’s expression remained unchanged, his tone as calm as if he were discussing the weather. ”Didn’t you get the notice?”

The guard paused. ”What notice?”

He approached as he spoke, his eyes filled with suspicion.

The moment he stepped within a two-meter radius, Zhai Jia moved.

One hand clamped over the guard’s mouth and nose while the other gripped the back of his neck and twisted.

”CRACK.”

The sound was crisp and clean.

The guard’s body went limp. Zhai Jia caught him, gently laid him down behind a shelf, and began patting him down.

He quickly pulled a walkie-talkie from the man’s waist and tossed it to Wan Ze.

The entire sequence of movements was as smooth as flowing water, without a single wasted sound. Even his breathing remained steady.

Wan Ze caught the walkie-talkie. Just as he was about to speak, an urgent call crackled through: ”The test subject has broken through West Gate Two! He must not be allowed to break through Gate Three! All members of Squads One, Two, and Three, proceed to Gate Three immediately to block him off!”

Then, the speaker added:

”Alive! I repeat, we need him alive!”

Zhai Jia was stunned. He lowered his voice. ”Test subject?”

He looked at Wan Ze, his expression turning grave. The more he thought about it, the more his heart pounded in his chest. ”Those lunatics from the Secret Palace... Don’t tell me those ’Divinity Transformation’ Martial Artists we ran into before were created from experiments like this? Damn it, they actually hid an experimental facility in a place like this? Right under our noses?”

Wan Ze didn’t answer immediately.

His hands were still touching the old objects, one after another, his movements swift.

”Don’t worry about that now,” Wan Ze said in a low voice, his hands moving even faster. ”We need to get ready... to pull out.”

Zhai Jia nodded, positioning himself sideways by the door to listen to the sounds outside.

The shouts, footsteps, and a kind of heavy, crashing sound were getting closer.

The two seized the opportunity to slip out of the warehouse amidst the chaos.

Just then...

”BANG... BOOM!”

An explosion roared from the distance.

The shockwave surged from the end of the corridor, rattling the warehouse doorframe.

Both Wan Ze and Zhai Jia felt the ground shake beneath them and quickly grabbed a nearby shipping container for support.

At the same time, a series of screams erupted.

Figures of Secret Palace guards were thrown into the air, tracing arcs under the corridor lights before they fell.

Then Zhai Jia saw the thing.

No, it was a person.

An absurdly muscular figure burst out of the smoke and dust from the explosion... He was wearing a patient’s gown, and his exposed skin was densely covered with needle marks. Some looked like they had scabbed over, but most were still oozing blood.

This giant of a man slammed into the steel plate at the end of the corridor.

The fifty-centimeter-thick steel plate was smashed through as if it were tofu, leaving a gaping hole.

”Open fire! Open fire now!” someone yelled.

A hail of bullets then rained down on the big guy.

But the bullets only produced dull thuds as they hit him, as if striking an alloy-plated bulletproof vest.

Zhai Jia saw it clearly. Some bullets still managed to embed themselves in the man’s muscles. Blood trickled down from the needle marks, a sight that made his scalp tingle.

He couldn’t help but suck in a sharp breath. ”Is that fucking human?”

He tugged on Wan Ze’s sleeve and mouthed one word: ”Go.”

But Wan Ze didn’t move.

He stood behind the shelf, staring at the figure that was rampaging wildly, an indescribable look in his eyes.

He seemed... to know this person.

He just wasn’t entirely sure yet.

Just then, the big guy charged to a spot not far from the warehouse, sweeping aside the guards in his path.

Suddenly...

He turned his head.

His gaze landed right in Wan Ze’s direction.

Their eyes met, cutting through the smoke, dust, and chaos.

A flash of surprise and delight crossed the big guy’s face.

But the next second, that joy was suppressed by something far more complex. He abruptly changed direction and charged the other way, letting out a hoarse roar. ”Go! Go now! This place... is dangerous!”

His voice was raspy and broken, as if he hadn’t spoken in a very long time.

But Wan Ze recognized it.

’Holy shit, it’s really Copper Mountain.’

The man he had saved by a twist of fate during his first time in that place at Black Mountain.

The Taming the Tiger Vajra Skill he later practiced in his Cultivation was a gift from Copper Mountain, and it had helped him immensely.

He had thought that after escaping from the Secret Palace that time, Copper Mountain had gotten away for good.
