Ling Tian Sword God

Chapter 1027: Chapter 1026: Blocking the Sword

In mid-air, Ling Yi had already disappeared from his original spot, his body seemed to have teleported, crossing several kilometers in an instant. With a wave of the stone sword in his hand, a crescent moon-like sword qi slashed towards Ling Chen.

All eyes narrowed sharply at that moment. Ling Chen had just been heavily wounded, his strength diminished to almost nothing. If he were to take this sword hit, death would be certain.

However, even though the Left Guardian and the Saints of the Witch Fiend Sect wanted to save Ling Chen, they couldn’t make it in time. Moreover, Ling Yi’s speed was much faster than theirs, and he struck first, leaving them no opportunity to rescue, just watching helplessly.

”Alas.”

Ling Tingfeng sighed, feeling very regretful in his heart. During Ling Chen’s time with the Ling Family, he watched him grow from an uncut jade to the top young person of the Nine Provinces Continent. In his heart, he felt a somewhat teacherly fondness for Ling Chen. Seeing Ling Chen about to be killed by Ling Yi, he naturally felt very heartbroken.

He was also very dissatisfied with Ling Yi’s action. They had clearly agreed to cease fighting and make peace, yet why did Ling Yi go back on his word?

For an elder to sneak attack a junior was truly beneath him.

However, he also knew that Ling Yi acted out of concern for the family. Ling Chen now possessed many of the Ling Family’s ultimate techniques but did not belong to the Ling Family. If he was in collusion with the Witch Fiend Sect, would they spread these techniques? Moreover, given Ling Chen’s talent and growth speed, should he become an enemy of the Ling Family, he might become a major threat to them in the future.

If Ling Chen is not killed now, and if he seeks retribution against the Ling Family in the future, it would not be easy to resolve.

The one to suffer then would be the Ling Family.

Even though Ling Tingfeng felt regretful, this time Ling Chen was surely doomed.

In Ling Yi’s eyes, there was no regret. A genius who might become an enemy of the Ling Family had no value in being left alive.

Just when Ling Yi’s sword qi was about to hit Ling Chen and kill him, the depths of Spirit Snake Island suddenly trembled. The Left Protector and others felt the ground under their feet shake violently, as if an earthquake had erupted. It felt as if an ancient demonic beast was raging and roaring underground.

”What’s happening?”

The Left Guardian’s expression changed. This earthquake-like tremor caused his soul to involuntarily quiver a bit, and even the flow of True Qi in his body accelerated. This was no ordinary earthquake but a man-made one.

There was only one person in the world capable of affecting him, a Saint of the Third Level, in this manner.

His gaze suddenly shifted to the sky, and there in mid-air, without knowing when it had appeared, was a mass of dark clouds. This cloud unexpectedly appeared in front of Ling Chen, blocking the crescent-shaped sword qi slashed by Ling Yi.

The dark clouds dispersed, revealing a graceful and beautiful figure. The woman was exceedingly lovely in appearance, dressed in black robes, facing Ling Chen with her back to Ling Yi, protecting Ling Chen’s body.

On her back was a bloody sword scar, looking quite shocking.

”It’s the Witch Goddess!”

The Left Guardian’s pupils slightly contracted. As he suspected, the person who suddenly appeared was indeed Xia Yunxin.

”The Goddess is injured!”

The Right Protector was also shocked. Xia Yunxin had unexpectedly used her precious body to shield Ling Chen from a fatal sword blow, enduring Ling Yi’s sword qi directly. Her injuries must be severe, right?

”She’s only sustained a superficial wound?”

Ling Yi was likewise surprised. The power of his sword was enough to slay a Saint, yet this woman managed to block his sword qi with her flesh, suffering only a surface wound? Who on earth is this black-robed woman?

”Could it be?”

Suddenly, Ling Yi’s eyes widened in shock, seemingly guessing Xia Yunxin’s identity. An unprecedented hint of dread appeared on his face.

East Sea Witch God!

This name had been a taboo in the Ling Family for millennia!

In truth, his knowledge of the Witch God was limited. He only knew that she was an extremely vicious demon, and a thousand years ago, the ancestors of the Ling Family teamed up with several prominent figures of the time to finally subdue this demon. Her flesh was shattered and her soul sealed within the Ling Family’s prized sacred treasure—the Saint’s Soul Niche. That generation’s ancestor left a mandate to watch over the Saint’s Soul Niche faithfully and never allow the Witch God’s minions a chance to approach the Saint’s Soul Niche.

A thousand years had passed, with the Saint’s Soul Niche being stored in the Ancestor Pavilion, never seeing the light of day. Yet this time, Ling Chen stole the Saint’s Soul Niche out and handed it over to the Witch Fiend Sect.

Earlier, his impatience to destroy the Witch Fiend Sect as quickly as possible arose from concern that the Witch God might break the seal and escape from the Saint’s Soul Niche. However, what he feared most had ultimately happened.

The East Sea Witch God had indeed returned to the world!

She only appeared now, likely having hidden somewhere on the island to recover her strength. After all these years without a flesh body, regaining power would surely take time. Her appearance here at this moment suggested that she must have regained some of her strength!

”Could Ling Chen be the demon’s weak spot?”

Ling Yi looked at Xia Yunxin with some suspicion. Even when she had taken a blow from him, she hadn’t turned around. Her attention was entirely focused on Ling Chen, completely ignoring Ling Yi’s presence.

This was perfect; while she was off guard, he would take her life!

”Witch, prepare to die!”

Ling Yi, making a swift decision, immediately drew his sword again, pushing his Sword Intent to the extreme. The stone sword in his hand dragged out a comet-like flame, thrusting straight at Xia Yunxin’s back heart!

Hiss!

Just as this sword was about to pierce into Ling Chen’s back heart, it was stopped by a black light shield that suddenly appeared from Xia Yunxin’s body. The sword light only pierced half an inch, a hairsbreadth from Xia Yunxin’s back skin, but was obstructed there, unable to harm her in the slightest.

”Scram!”

Xia Yunxin didn’t even glance backward. Her delicate body shook slightly, and an immensely powerful force suddenly surged from the black light shield, transmitting along the stone sword onto Ling Yi’s body.

The stone sword almost slipped from his hand. Ling Yi’s face was aghast, his body was shaken a hundred meters back before he managed to steady himself.

”How can it be?”

Ling Yi was incredulous. With his Fourth Level of Saint Dao cultivation, his full-powered sword strike was so effortlessly defended by this witch, and she even flung him back. It seemed she didn’t even seriously engage. This witch had just been resurrected, and her strength was already formidable to this extent?
