Ling Tian Sword God

Chapter 1019: Chapter 1018: Bloody Battle

”The Witch Fiend Sect, because of our mistake, we let it cling to life until now. Today, it’s time to erase it completely.”

Ling Yi and Ling Tianzun looked down at Spirit Snake Island shrouded by the Array Formation, and a chill suddenly surfaced in their eyes.

”There are quite a few Array Formations on this island. If we want to break them all, I’m afraid it’ll take some effort.”

Ling Tingfeng gazed at the layers of Shields below, a grave look flashing in his eyes. The Array Formations on this Spirit Snake Island were anything but ordinary; at least ten sophisticated Array Formations were spread across the island. To break them one by one would not be easy.

”Take them down one formation at a time. Surround Spirit Snake Island completely—we can’t let a single demon from the Witch Fiend Sect escape.”

A cold gleam suddenly flashed in Ling Yi’s eyes.

”The others are secondary, the main one is that traitor Ling Chen. This time we absolutely cannot let him walk away alive, we must strangle him here.”

Beside him, Ling Ba suddenly spoke viciously.

Hearing this, Ling Tingfeng couldn’t help falling silent. When all was said and done, Ling Chen was someone he had personally trained. Ling Chen’s theft of the Saint’s Soul Niche and defection from the Ling Family had struck him hard.

”Ling Chen betrayed the Family, colluded with the Witch Fiend Sect, stole the Family’s guardian treasure—his crimes are naturally beyond forgiveness.”

Another Great Elder, Ling Tianzun, also spoke. His eyes were filled with a cold, ruthless light. ”This child’s talent is peerless in this age. If he still belonged to our Ling Family, that would be one thing. But now that he has defected to the Witch Fiend Sect, he must be eliminated, otherwise he will become a grave hidden danger to the Family in the future.”

Though he had never seen Ling Chen with his own eyes, during this period he had heard plenty of information about Ling Chen. Even the Imperial Clan’s top geniuses, Peerless Sword and Li Yuanhao, had been defeated by him. The latter’s aptitude could only be described as terrifying.

In Ling Chen, he saw the shadow of Ling Tianyu back then. The Family had spent tremendous resources cultivating that man, even pre‑appointing him as the next Family Head. And the result? Ling Tianyu defected from the Family for the sake of a mere woman, abandoning everything and even stealing away the Ling Tian Sword Scripture. Now Ling Chen had done almost the exact same thing, only even more excessive—this time he had directly stolen the Ling Family’s guardian treasure.

Those father and son truly were cut from the same cloth, to have done such similar things.

To this day, they still hadn’t caught even a glimpse of Ling Tianyu, and now Ling Chen had emerged.

”Begin breaking the formations!”

Just like Ling Tianzun, Ling Yi also thought of Ling Tianyu, and his heart instantly burned with rage as he issued the order to the Ling Family’s forces.

”Do it!”

Ling Ba had long since been unable to wait. He was the first to burst out, surging power gathering around him, then slamming fiercely into the nearest defensive Great Formation.

Rumble!

With a thunderous bang, as if the heavens shook, the massive warships moving across the sea and the three Flying Battleships suspended in mid‑air all activated their mechanisms. Rows of Giant Cannons extended from both sides, all of them aimed squarely at Spirit Snake Island.

Bang bang bang bang!

With the booming of the cannons, beams of light like lasers shot out one after another like meteors toward Spirit Snake Island, exploding violently upon the Array Formations.

Under such savage bombardment, the entire Spirit Snake Island shook violently. If not for most of the shockwaves being blocked by the Array Formations, this single round of shelling would likely have blasted the whole island into ruins.

There were still several thousand, even up to ten thousand, powerful members of the Witch Demon Sect on Spirit Snake Island. Thus, even though the Ling Family army’s momentum was overwhelming and their bombardment fierce, for the moment it was still hard to achieve any decisive result.

On the Ling Family’s side, they were in no rush to seize ground piece by piece. They had already surrounded Spirit Snake Island. Anyone inside who dared come out would die. Under such ferocious assaults, no matter how tough these Array Formations were, they could last at most three days. In three days’ time, what tricks could the enemy possibly pull?

This time, to exterminate the Witch Fiend Sect, the Ling Family had mobilized with full force. Even the Lan Family, Fang Family, Ouyang Family and other Saint Families of Xuzhou had dispatched large forces, all for the sake of a single, decisive strike to uproot the Witch Fiend Sect and leave no future trouble.

Ling Tingfeng, Ling Lie, Ling Zhen and the other high‑level figures of the Ling Family split up across various sectors, attacking Spirit Snake Island from different directions, searching for a breakthrough point.

Under such a fierce assault, cracks continuously opened on those Array Formations. Fierce attacks pierced through the fissures and struck the island below, triggering explosions one after another.

On Spirit Snake Island, the Witch Fiend Sect’s numbers and strength were indeed inferior to the Allied Forces of the Ling Family and several Saint Families, but they were extremely united, of one mind. Even under such a brutal offensive, they still managed to hold their positions and maintain the formations.

Those heavily wounded would be immediately rotated out, while those still able to fight hid in the dark, waiting for the right moment to emerge and fill the gaps.

Moreover, around Spirit Snake Island, countless traps had been laid. These traps caused no small amount of trouble for the Ling Family and had led to significant casualties over the past few days.

On top of that, among the ten‑plus Array Formations on Spirit Snake Island, there were already several offensive formations that periodically launched counterattacks.

This battle was not a simple siege, but a tug‑of‑war.

The brutal war dragged on for two full days.

On Spirit Snake Island, corpses lay strewn about, and a thick stench of blood filled the air, almost nauseating. Even with the protection of the Array Formations, the Witch Fiend Sect had still suffered heavy casualties. Outside the island, the surrounding sea was likewise dyed blood‑red. Under the counterattacks of the Witch Fiend Sect, the Ling Family had also taken grievous losses.

On the Flying Battleship, Ling Yi and Ling Tianzun wore cold expressions. Though the Ling Family’s army had suffered greater losses than the Witch Fiend Sect over the past two days, their objective had been achieved. Of the ten‑plus Great Formations on Spirit Snake Island, more than half had now been broken. Only four formations remained in operation, and all the traps around the island had been cleared. Taking Spirit Snake Island was now only a matter of time.

”Three days. According to our original plan, that should be enough to break all their Array Formations.”

Ling Yi said mildly.

”When that time comes, it’ll be our turn to act. In this Witch Fiend Sect, there are only a handful who pose any threat, and not a single one of them is a match for us.”

Ling Tianzun swept his gaze around Spirit Snake Island, a trace of contempt on his face.

Their cultivations had both reached above the Fourth Level of Saint Dao, while the strongest among the Witch Fiend Sect, the Left and Right Guardians, were only at the Saint Realm Third Layer. No matter what strange methods they had, they could not possibly be their match.

”Don’t get careless. Don’t forget, they got their hands on the Saint’s Soul Niche.”

Ling Yi narrowed his eyes slightly. ”If they manage to awaken that existence, we’ll be in trouble.”

”That existence?”

Ling Tianzun froze for a moment, then his expression suddenly changed. ”You mean her?”

”That shouldn’t be possible. Even if they obtained the Saint’s Soul Niche, reviving her is still as difficult as ascending to the heavens. Besides, they don’t have enough time.”

Ling Tianzun shook his head. He did not believe the Witch Fiend Sect could move that fast. If that existence had been awakened, how could the Witch Fiend Sect possibly sit and watch them bombard away like this without reacting?
