Ling Tian Sword God

From Liu Mengru’s words, Ling Chen learned about the Liu Family’s marriage alliance plan, and immediately a cold smile appeared on his face. This Liu Family really spare no means to achieve their goals. Probably they went through all the trouble to capture Liu Xiling, just to squeeze out her last bit of value.

No wonder, he thought to himself, that he and the Liu Family had no ill feelings or grudges. By rights, he was still a relative of the Liu Family, so why did they desperately try to kill him?

It turned out there was another layer to this relationship.

Even if Liu Xiling was a direct lineal descendant of the Liu Family, the sister of the current Li Clan’s Master, in the eyes of the Elder Ancestor of Liu Family and the Elderly meeting, she was probably just a tool.

”Now that the power of the Liu Family is controlled by the Elderly meeting, those old guys have the backing of the Ancestor, they don’t put my father as the Family Head in their eyes, as we know, the past few Family Heads of the Liu Family were actually puppets that couldn’t make their own decisions.”

Liu Mengru looked at Ling Chen, her beautiful eyes slightly narrowing, and said, ”My father’s time as the Family Head is not long, his wings are not yet fully fledged, and he dare not act rashly, so he can only let me secretly watch over Liu Qing and temporarily protect you completely.”

”I’ve troubled Uncle and Cousin to worry.”

Ling Chen, feeling a bit ashamed, cupped his fists towards Liu Mengru. Previously, he always thought that everyone in the Liu Family, including his uncle Liu Chengyuan, were cold and ruthless people. Now it seemed that he had misunderstood them.

”Why are you being so distant, we’re all family. You’re my own cousin. How can we let those old guys casually kill you? Even though we’ve never met, you look so much like Aunt, I recognized you at a glance.”

Liu Mengru showed no airs in front of Ling Chen, nor did she have the typical pride and aloofness of a genius, but she was very warm.

Ling Chen guessed that perhaps it was due to such a temperament that Liu Mengru’s character was very rare among geniuses, being so enthusiastic towards people. But he was unaware that, in front of others, Liu Mengru was a lofty goddess figure, it was difficult for the average person to even say a word to her.

”Your current strength is still too weak. If someone like Liu Qing appears again, you might not be able to save your life. Why don’t you change your name and follow me back to Taiqing Palace? Then I can always protect you.”

Liu Mengru thought for a moment, looked seriously at Ling Chen, and said.

Taiqing Palace is a famous ancient sect within the Nine Provinces Land, its foundation is much deeper than the Nine Great Families. However, Taiqing Palace, such a power, always refrains from interfering in the Imperial Court’s struggles and remains aloof from worldly affairs. Liu Mengru, such an unparalleled genius, entered Taiqing Palace for a broader future trajectory.

However, such an ancient sect has extremely stringent requirements for its disciples. Even a peerless genius ranked fifth on the Green History Wall like Ling Chen could absolutely not be turned away by a force like Taiqing Palace.

”I appreciate Cousin’s kindness.”

Ling Chen naturally couldn’t always remain by Liu Mengru’s side, being protected by her. ”For those people who want my life, it won’t be that easy. If Liu Qing dares to come again, I will ensure he comes but doesn’t return.”

”Oh?”

Liu Mengru raised her beautiful eyebrows. She thought Ling Chen was not one to speak with exaggeration, but Liu Qing was nonetheless a distinguished Half-Saint powerhouse. How could Ling Chen have such confidence to defeat him?

”Cousin, rest assured, if I didn’t have some means, I might have died dozens of times already, but I can handle people like Liu Qing.”

Ling Chen immediately explained to earn her trust. Now, the Human Emperor’s will incarnation was almost fully formed, and if he encountered danger, the Human Emperor would surely sense it. And with the Human Emperor’s intervention, his safety was naturally guaranteed.

Knowing in his heart that Liu Mengru was a friend and not a foe, Ling Chen also revealed a bit of his ace cards. The emotions Liu Mengru showed didn’t seem to be feigned.

”Alright, since you insist, I won’t force you.”

Liu Mengru gently nodded. She believed Ling Chen’s words weren’t false, and that genius anomalies often have their unique paths, which others should interfere with as little as possible.

If Ling Chen hid under her protection, whether it would affect his future accomplishments was uncertain.

At that, she turned her hand and took out a token inlaid with Rainbow Robe Association’s emblem and an item resembling a Hidden Weapon and handed them to Ling Chen, then said, ”This is the ally token of the ’Rainbow Robe Association’ and an exclusive distress signal. When you travel outside in the future, this should help you.”

She merely gave Ling Chen the Rainbow Robe Association’s token but didn’t mention having him join the Rainbow Robe Association, because the Rainbow Robe Association and the Heavenly Sword Sect were in constant conflict, involving Imperial Court forces’ struggles. She didn’t want to draw Ling Chen into this contention.

With the Rainbow Robe Association token, it was sufficient for Ling Chen to receive future aid from the Rainbow Robe Association, as what she just gave Ling Chen was the first-class ally token of the Rainbow Robe Association. Only a few of these tokens exist, and only strong allies with a very close relationship with the Rainbow Robe Association have the qualification to hold them; those people are all outstanding figures of the younger generation of the Nine Provinces Land.

”Thank you, Cousin.”

Ling Chen took the token without refusal. The Rainbow Robe Association had a huge influence among the younger generation in the Nine Provinces Land. This ally token was of great value.

”After this matter, Liu Qing should have some doubts about my identity. I cannot always stay by your side to protect you. In the future, when you wander the Jianghu, you must be very cautious.”

Liu Mengru solemnly instructed Ling Chen.

The Elderly meeting wouldn’t easily stop the marriage alliance with the Xing Saint Family, nor would they simply end the pursuit of Ling Chen. After the recent encounter, Liu Qing would have somewhat grasped her tactics. Although she deliberately concealed her moves to confuse Liu Qing, the other party would still have suspicions.

Ling Chen didn’t say much, just nodded. Through these years of bloody battles, he had relied on himself and never depended on others. Though the Liu Family was powerful, they couldn’t easily crush him.

”Remember, your fate is tied to Aunt. If nothing happens to you, there’s no need to worry about Aunt’s situation.”

Before leaving, Liu Mengru didn’t forget to remind Ling Chen: ”With your potential, you only need to cultivate diligently and improve your strength. In just a few years, you will surely become a figure that even the Liu Family greatly fears, and by then, all problems will be solved.”

Upon hearing this, Ling Chen nodded as well. His current situation was difficult, surrounded by enemies from all sides, and the root cause was still his weak strength. That was why he could be at others’ mercy. If he possessed strength comparable to Liu Mengru’s, or even greater, even the Liu Family would think twice before daring to act against him.
