Ling Tian Sword God

Chapter 803: Chapter 801: Assassination

”Where is the Divine Blade Ancestor? Old friends have come, shouldn’t he come out to meet us?”

The blind old man asked.

”The Ancestor is currently in seclusion and may not be able to come out for a while. We ask for the elders’ understanding.”

The middle-aged swordsman said with sweat on his forehead.

Although he was the Family Head of the Shen Dao Family, he was still just a junior in the eyes of these two elders, without much weight.

The whole Shen Dao Family could communicate with these two only because of the Divine Blade Ancestor.

”Fine, since he’s in seclusion, we won’t disturb him. Besides, we’re not here to find him.”

The blind old man waved his hand, and his gaze fell on Sima Xiaoyao, saying, ”Sima Xiaoyao, I heard that a few days ago, you met the legendary Ling Chen and his sister Ling Yin at the True Dragon Pavilion?”

Surprised that these two elders were looking for him, Sima Xiaoyao nodded after a short pause, ”I did see them. At that time, they were just finished leaving their names and had a conflict with Tang Ze and others.”

”Tang Ze? The young generation of the Tang Sect?”

The emaciated old man, who had remained expressionless, finally showed a change in expression, ”And did the young girl named Ling Yin get hurt?”

”No.”

Sima Xiaoyao was confused about why the emaciated old man was so concerned about Ling Yin. He didn’t know who the old man was, but walking alongside the Royal Elder, he was clearly a mighty figure of the Nine Provinces.

”I couldn’t stand Tang Ze’s bullying, so I intervened to stop the conflict.”

Sima Xiaoyao said hesitantly.

”Well done!”

The emaciated old man suddenly shouted, startling Sima Xiaoyao, and even the other members of the Shen Dao Family felt their eardrums tremble, almost deafening them.

”You, lad, are not bad. Very good, the Divine Blade Ancestor raised a fine disciple.”

The emaciated old man suddenly showed a much better attitude toward Sima Xiaoyao, patting his shoulder with approval.

Sima Xiaoyao could only smile awkwardly, unsure of the intentions behind the old man’s actions.

”Lad, do you know where the young girl named Ling Yin is now?”

The emaciated old man asked, staring closely at Sima Xiaoyao.

”Ling Yin? She should be with Ling Chen. As for their exact whereabouts, I don’t know.”

Sima Xiaoyao shook his head.

”You don’t know either? Does anyone else know?” the emaciated old man continued to ask.

”This...” Sima Xiaoyao frowned, then his eyes brightened, he raised his head, ”That’s right, Ling Chen and the people from the Green Mountain Association seem to be very close, Ye Ming, Dong Yaotian, and Yuwen Jie might know where Ling Yin and the others went.”

”What a bother.”

The emaciated old man’s face darkened slightly, realizing he had rushed here overnight to still not catch up.

”Alright, old friend, we’ve finally got news of the girl. Those youngsters’ families are not far from here, let’s go interrogate them immediately.”

The blind old man stepped forward.

”Then let’s hurry and go.”

The emaciated old man’s eyes narrowed as he nodded before his figure flickered, forming a True Qi shield as he transformed into a stream of light, disappearing into the sky.

”Say hi to the Divine Blade Ancestor for us.”

The blind old man left a message with the middle-aged swordsman before also preparing to rush off.

”May I ask the Great Elder, what is that senior’s identity?” The middle-aged swordsman couldn’t help but ask as the blind old man was about to leave.

”Heavenly Eyes.”

The blind old man paused and spat out two words before rushing away.

”Heavenly Eyes?”

The middle-aged swordsman and Sima Xiaoyao exchanged glances, somewhat puzzled by the meaning of those two words.

”Could it be...”

The middle-aged swordsman’s eyes suddenly brightened, and his body trembled as if he had learned of some forbidden matter.

”What’s wrong, Master?” Sima Xiaoyao noticed the change in the middle-aged swordsman’s expression and quickly asked.

”Don’t ask too much.”

The middle-aged swordsman’s face tensed, ”All you need to know is that they are people we cannot afford to offend.”

Even the Shen Dao Family cannot afford to offend them?

Sima Xiaoyao’s face changed, wondering what kind of terrifying forces they must be.

”I understand, Master.”

Sima Xiaoyao nodded seriously, thinking that Ling Chen and Ling Yin indeed carried significant backgrounds behind them. His guess was correct; such exceptional talents could not possibly lack influence.

...

Nanluo Sect.

After settling Luo Xian’er and Shen Qianlang, Ling Chen did not rush to leave but temporarily stayed at the Nanluo Sect to quietly cultivate for a while before inquiring about the Otherworldly Religion.

However, after just two days, Ling Chen noticed something amiss.

As night fell, the entire mountain was engulfed in darkness.

”The time has come; it’s time to execute the Great Elder’s orders.”

”Take action!”

In the piercing cold wind, a group of people in black suddenly surged toward Ling Chen’s residence from all directions. These people in black moved like phantoms, with refined Light Skills, yet they did not enter Ling Chen’s abode but stayed outside and formed hand seals. Every hand seal was identical, and the speed was uniform, indicating it had been meticulously refined without a single error.

As they formed seals, circles of shadows expanded from their center. These shadows were distinct from the night, being absolutely black, without any reflection. Finally, they formed a massive dark barrier, enveloping the entire estate. From the outside, it looked like the mountain had vanished into thin air.

Inside the mountain.

”Someone’s here!”

Ling Chen had been on guard internally. Once sensing the outside disturbance, he opened his eyes and rushed out.

Ling Yin followed closely behind, her Mental Power far superior to Ling Chen’s, allowing her to sense external changes immediately.

The two looked up; the sky was pitch black without any starlight. Looking beyond the mountain, the external buildings seemed to vanish, leaving only darkness.

The entire mountain appeared to be isolated.

Tch!

Ling Chen pointed a finger towards the dark area, and a beam-like sword qi shot out.

Silently and soundlessly, the sword qi disappeared into the darkness.

”What an impressive array formation, it’s a barrier. Definitely not ordinary assassins.”

Ling Chen eyed it with concentration, speaking.

”This barrier completely divides up the space, confusing even vision. I’ve never seen such a brilliant barrier.” Ling Yin’s pretty face showed rare seriousness; even she was surprised by the complexity of it.

”Someone wants to assassinate us, but who could it be? Tang Sect?”

Ling Chen’s thoughts raced, besides Tang Sect, he couldn’t think of any other forces wanting him dead.

”But isn’t the Tang Sect known for its Hidden Weapons? How could their array formation be this sophisticated?”

Feeling suspicious, Ling Chen frowned; such a refined barrier didn’t seem like the work of the Tang Sect.

However, now wasn’t the time for deep thought. Facing an unprecedented crisis, Ling Chen refrained from panic, as panic would only give assassins an opportunity, offering nothing useful.
