Ling Tian Sword God

Chapter 804: Chapter 802: Illusion Breaking Bead

Outside the barrier.

Dozens of shadowy figures gathered together, led by a middle-aged man in black—the very man who had conversed with the Elder of the Liu Family.

”To make us use the Seven Absolute Dragon Trapping Formation, Ling Chen should feel proud even in death. This Seven Absolute Dragon Trapping Formation, let alone a mere Ling Chen, even a peak expert of the Sky Apex Realm would be trapped and killed with no hope of breaking the formation.”

A shadowy figure spoke up.

The leading man in black shook his head and said, ”If this boy were just an ordinary genius, there’d be no need for such a mobilization. A fifth of our people would suffice. But the Great Elder has given orders; Ling Chen’s survival skills are extremely terrifying. Hence, I’ve set up this Seven Absolute Dragon Trapping Formation to catch that boy with the Heaven’s Net.”

”It’s strange. I’ve heard Ling Chen seems to have some connection with our Liu Family, though I’m not clear on the details. Isn’t such a genius worth recruiting? Why then did the Great Elder dispatch us to kill him?” a shadowy figure asked, puzzled.

”Who dares speculate on the Great Elder’s orders? If it’s a command from the Great Elder, it means this boy has done something to infringe on the family’s interests. Otherwise, wouldn’t the Great Elder be smarter than you and recruit him?” the leading man in black retorted coldly.

”Yes, you’re right. Rest assured, with the Seven Absolute Dragon Trapping Formation, this assassination cannot fail. I even think that the formation might not be needed at all.”

”Don’t be overconfident. I have a premonition that this assassination won’t be too straightforward. Keep your wits about you, or else if the assassination fails, you’ll all face the Great Elder’s wrath.”

The leading man in black had a grave look in his eyes. He wouldn’t underestimate the opponent just because Ling Chen’s cultivation was low; he had a vague sense of foreboding that capturing Ling Chen wouldn’t be so easy.

”Yes!”

The group felt a chill in their hearts. They were all too aware of the Great Elder’s methods; if they messed up, they could all face severe punishment.

”Alright, commence.”

The leading man in black’s gaze turned cold as he ordered an assassin setting up the barrier.

”Yes!”

The assassin setting up the barrier changed a seal gesture, and a whirlpool suddenly appeared in the pitch-black shadowy barrier. The whirlpool slowly opened, and shadows dived in, blending with the darkness.

Swish!

Dozens of shadows broke in, spreading in all directions like a dance of demons. These shadows could appear anywhere—tree tops, the ground, mid-air, rooftops, grass, even on the lake surface. If one thought the shadows were harmless, they’d be sorely mistaken; these shadows were condensed from the Seven Absolute Dragon Trapping Formation and possessed significant lethality.

Slash!

A sword cleaved through a shadow, but the halved shadow neither dissipated nor disappeared; it rapidly grew within the array, returning to its full form and reappearing in front of them.

”Mysterious Illusion Realm!”

Ling Yin extended her hands, erecting a black shield that protected both Ling Chen and herself.

Bang bang!

The shield was quite mystical, capable of blocking the invasion of those shadows, but it wasn’t completely impermeable. Shadows managed to slip through the shield’s gaps, launching surprise attacks on Ling Chen and Ling Yin.

However, the penetrating shadows were in the minority. Ling Chen’s Red Sky Sword moved as fast as the wind, ripping apart shadows that neared them without inflicting any harm.

But the shadows that Ling Chen destroyed absorbed energy from the darkness of the formation and quickly regained their strength, returning to the fight and swarming around them.

Ling Yin frowned, ”These shadows may not harm us, but they’re endless. If we can’t break out of this formation, we might be worn to death.”

Ling Chen replied serenely, ”Wait. Assassins value efficiency in their assassinations; they won’t let time drag on like this. Surely there will be a next move; we just need to be fully prepared and await them.”

Hearing this, Ling Yin nodded slightly. This assassination barrier was formidable, but it merely served as an auxiliary trap. The real assassins would be the ones personally coming for them, and that would be the real heart-pounding showdown.

”Hehe, die!”

Amidst the crisscrossing shadows, some subtly different ones mixed in—these shadows remained hidden behind others, invisible to Ling Chen and Ling Yin. Ling Chen’s sword light slashed through dozens of shadows, but behind the crumbled shadows, several shadows shot forward. After being slashed open, one turned from virtual to real, producing a purple dagger that gleamed with a poisonous light.

Slash!

The dagger stabbed into Ling Chen’s back.

”Got him!”

That shadow thought it had successfully assassinated Ling Chen and laughed aloud.

”Careful.”

However, the assassin had no time for celebration; he realized he had stabbed an illusion, which disappeared. A chilling voice came from behind him.

Crack!

Before he could react, a hand twisted the assassin’s head around. Shock and horror flashed in his eyes, and his face froze the moment he recognized Ling Chen’s face.

”Using illusions to preemptively create decoys, damn it, causing us to lose a comrade.”

Angry voices echoed in the darkness; they saw numerous illusions surrounding Ling Chen and Ling Yin, identical to them and indistinguishable from the real ones.

”The one casting illusions isn’t that boy; it’s the little girl beside him. Kill her first!”

Savage glances fixated on Ling Yin, aware of the illusionist girl by Ling Chen’s side. They had come prepared.

Several shadows turned their palms over, revealing green beads, which they threw at the illusions. The air was shattered by the violent explosion of the green beads, spreading out a green energy mist that dispersed the illusions.

”These are Illusion Breaking Beads. Indeed, they’re prepared.”

As each illusion was shattered, Ling Yin’s beautiful face paled. These beads were treasures specifically designed to counter illusion techniques, extremely effective against illusions. Yet they were costly consumables, not easily accessible to ordinary people.

Unexpectedly, the assassins had carelessly thrown out five or six Illusion Breaking Beads, an extravagant move.

”A good opportunity.”

Without illusions to cover her, an assassin focused on Ling Yin, a gleam of joy flashing across his face.

Silently, he crept towards Ling Yin with a poison dagger in hand.
