Chapter 785: Chapter 783: Sand Shooting Shadow_1

”With so few of you, you think you can stop us?” Seeing Tang Yutong’s small retinue, Shen Qianlang said, his eyes narrowing slightly.

”We may be few, but we have more than enough strength to capture you.” Tang Yutong’s pretty face remained cold. She waved her hand, and four dark figures behind her darted out, surrounding Ling Chen’s party. The moment these four figures moved, they seemed like wisps of smoke or elusive phantoms, their movements subtle and silent.

Nearby, Luo Xian’er’s expression turned solemn as she warned, ”Be careful. They must be the ’Shadow Guards,’ renowned throughout the Tang Sect. We cannot be careless.”

”Shadow Guards?” Ling Chen looked slightly surprised. He knew a little about the Shadow Guards: they were the most elite force within the Tang Sect. Each member was a handpicked Sky Apex Realm expert, skilled in stealth, disguise, assassination, possessing supreme Light Skill, and formidable martial arts.

Luo Xian’er continued, sizing up Tang Yutong. Suddenly, her eyes lit up. ”Only the top ten young experts in the Tang Sect can command the Shadow Guards. You’re Tang Yutong, the wielder of the Sand Shooting Shadow?”

”Young lady, you seem to know quite a bit about Our Tangmen.” Tang Yutong didn’t seem to care that she had been recognized. It made no difference; Ling Chen and his party would be captured today anyway.

Her gaze then shifted to Ling Chen. ”What I find curious is you, Ling Chen. From what I know, you hail from the Wildlands. I never expected such a peerless genius to emerge from a place like the Wildlands. Truly rare.”

Ling Chen had no time to waste sparring words with Tang Yutong. He knew she was trying to stall. The Tang Sect undoubtedly had more forces at the Town Ghost Pass. If those forces were alerted and arrived, escape would be impossible. ”We don’t have much time! We need to break through immediately!”

Ling Yin declared, ”I’ll hold back these four.” She formed a hand seal, and an illusion array manifested, enveloping everyone within it.

Ling Chen nodded. ”Alright, I’ll leave them to you.” These four Shadow Guards were formidable. If they captured Shen Qianlang and Luo Xian’er, he would be forced to hold back for fear of harming them. With Ling Yin handling them, that concern was alleviated.

Tang Yutong remarked with some surprise, ”So you have an Illusionist with you. It seems the intelligence I received wasn’t entirely accurate.”

”Perhaps you’ll soon realize,” Ling Chen retorted, his gaze calm, ”that the intelligence you possess is utterly worthless.” With that, the Red Sky Sword in Ling Chen’s hand was suddenly unsheathed. A crimson radiance erupted, and an immense Sword Intent soared into the sky, instantly blanketing the surrounding hundred-meter area.

The moment she was enveloped by this Sword Intent, a grave expression flickered in Tang Yutong’s eyes. The power of this Sword Intent far exceeded her expectations. She had never encountered such overwhelming Sword Intent from someone of the younger generation. With a flip of her jade-like hand, a substance resembling flowing sand coalesced in her palm. It undulated like a living entity, shifting from side to side, its form constantly changing, never fixed. This was the Tang Sect’s unique Hidden Weapon: the Sand Shooting Shadow.

The Sand Shooting Shadow placed extremely high demands on its wielder, requiring precise control over every single grain of sand. Its form had to be constantly adapted to the evolving combat situation to eliminate the enemy.

Tang Yutong looked at Ling Chen. ”Among the younger generation, not many can force me to use the Sand Shooting Shadow from the very beginning.” As the First Disciple of the Third Elder, she had mastered dozens of Tang Sect Hidden Weapons; the Sand Shooting Shadow was merely the most formidable among them.

Manufacturing Hidden Weapons was incredibly troublesome. They were also less durable than conventional weapons and armor due to their extreme intricacy. Therefore, Tang Yutong typically wouldn’t deploy the Sand Shooting Shadow lightly. But facing Ling Chen now, she was prepared to give it her all. She wouldn’t be foolish like Tang Hai, harboring such idiotic prejudices and underestimating Ling Chen simply because he came from the Wildlands.

Without further words, Ling Chen swung his sword. He had to break through their encirclement quickly; otherwise, his party would find it difficult to escape. The fiery red Sword Light divided into five distinct streams, each imbued with a different Sword Intent attribute, instantly enveloping Tang Yutong.

A faint smile touched Tang Yutong’s lips. WHOOSH. Her body abruptly vanished, splitting into five illusory afterimages. Ling Chen’s Sword Light pierced through the illusions one by one. After all five Sword Lights dissipated, Tang Yutong’s true form had already flitted into mid-air. Then, with a sudden flick of her jade-like hand, the Hidden Weapon, Sand Shooting Shadow, shot out violently. As it flew, the sand-like Hidden Weapon rapidly writhed and morphed into a Long Spear, shooting towards Ling Chen with such lightning speed that he barely had time to react.

Ling Chen’s gaze locked onto the Long Spear formed from the flowing sand. He could sense something unusual about it. These grains of sand are completely unstable. If I attack it with my sword, the spear will likely disintegrate instantly and explode, transforming into countless particles of sand to assault me.This, perhaps, was the truly terrifying aspect of the Sand Shooting Shadow.

Making a swift decision, Ling Chen’s Red Sky Sword flashed. Its Sword Light abruptly transformed into a flaming meteor, blasting towards the sand Long Spear. Just as Ling Chen anticipated, the Long Spear disintegrated into a cloud of sand that filled the air. It then coalesced into a sand tornado, sweeping ferociously towards him.

CHCHCH! Ling Chen’s body was engulfed by the sand tornado and, in an instant, torn to shreds, completely reduced to fragments.

Tang Yutong started. ”Hmm?” This clearly wasn’t Ling Chen’s actual body, only an afterimage.

Just then, behind the Red Sky Sword that was hurtling straight for her, a figure suddenly materialized. He grasped the Red Sky Sword with one hand and thrust it violently at Tang Yutong. With no time to recall the Sand Shooting Shadow, Tang Yutong drew an Assassin’s Short Blade from her waist and parried Ling Chen’s ferocious sword strike.

CLANG! Sparks flew. Tang Yutong was sent flying back over a hundred meters. But in the next instant, she flipped her hand, producing seven or eight black poison needles, and flung them at Ling Chen’s face. The poison needles rained towards him. Though there were only seven or eight, they appeared as a shower of twenty or thirty, mixed with numerous illusions, making it impossible to distinguish the real from the fake. These poison needles were another of the Tang Sect’s famous Hidden Weapons: the God Needle with no Shadow.

Ling Chen was forced to halt, swinging his Red Sky Sword at high speed to deflect the incoming poison needles. Just then, the Sand Shooting Shadow descended upon Ling Chen from above, transforming into a Giant Clock that pressed down on him ferociously.

”Ascending Blue Lotus!” A sharp light flashed in Ling Chen’s eyes as he swung his sword. A gigantic blue lotus appeared beneath his feet, growing at a visible rate until it resembled a colossal tree reaching for the heavens.

BOOM! The Sand Shooting Shadow violently collided with the Sword qi blue lotus. Under the impact of the Ascending Blue Lotus, the Sand Shooting Shadow crumbled once more, dispersing into countless particles of sand that filled the Void.
