Ling Tian Sword God

A hundred miles from Hanmei Villa, on a plain, a figure appeared in a sorry state. It was none other than Luo Yutang, who had been defeated by Ling Chen at Hanmei Villa.

Luo Yutang’s gaze was currently gloomy and his breathing erratic. Losing to Ling Chen had not only left him severely injured but had also dealt a crushing blow to his self-esteem. Returning in such disgrace, he had no idea how he would face his master, the Capture God.

RUSTLE...

Just as Luo Yutang was contemplating, the sound of footsteps suddenly echoed from his surroundings.

”Who’s there?”

Luo Yutang’s eyes instantly turned cold. He quickly looked towards the source of the rustling sound, and four figures emerged into his view. They were all dressed in Capture Officer uniforms—the same four who had been with Bai Shaochuan at the Circuit Capturing Government Office.

”So, it’s you lot. What are you doing following me?”

Recognizing the four, Luo Yutang relaxed; he considered these men mere ants, no threat to him.

”Luo Yutang, you ask why we’ve followed you?” the middle-aged Capture Officer leading them said with a faint smile, though it was clearly tinged with coldness. ”Your strength must be severely diminished by now, wouldn’t you say?”

”And what business is that of yours?”

Luo Yutang’s pupils constricted slightly. A sense of alarm rose within him.

”Of course. We’re here to strike you down while you’re vulnerable.”

The lead Capture Officer’s eyes turned savage. He abruptly flung a Poison Dart, sending it streaking towards Luo Yutang.

”You’re courting death!” Luo Yutang roared. These ants dare to attack me in my weakened state? They truly don’t know their place!

He punched out, knocking the Poison Dart aside. His aura was mountainous. Though injured by Ling Chen, he was like a starved camel, still larger than a horse. These rats trying to ambush him were simply overestimating themselves.

”Suppressing Demon Tablet Fist!”

He struck out fiercely. A colossal black True Qi stone tablet materialized and crashed down, slamming violently into the earth. The sheer force of the blow sent all four men flying.

”He still has this much power?!” one of the Capture Officers exclaimed, his face a mask of shock. They had tailed Luo Yutang closely, daring to act only because they believed Ling Chen had severely wounded him at Hanmei Villa. Otherwise, even with ten times the courage, they would never have attempted this.

They hadn’t anticipated Luo Yutang would be so resilient. Even after a major defeat at Ling Chen’s hands, he still possessed such considerable strength.

”Don’t panic! In his condition, he can’t last much longer! Attack him with Hidden Weapons, all at once!”

The middle-aged Capture Officer’s face was grim. He stared daggers at Luo Yutang as he retrieved several more Poison Darts from his robes. Now that we’ve made our move, there’s no turning back and failure is not an option. Otherwise, we’re all dead men.

The four flung their Hidden Weapons, which rained down on Luo Yutang like a torrential storm.

BANG! BANG! BANG!

The projectiles hammered against Luo Yutang’s Protective True Qi, while others struck his armor, sending dazzling sparks flying.

SPLAT!

Luo Yutang spat out a mouthful of blood, his face paling. The relentless assault of Hidden Weapons was clearly taking its toll.

”Four fools! Did you really think I’d be so easy to kill? Yama Golden Body!”

Driven into a corner, a sharp light flared in Luo Yutang’s eyes. In the next instant, a dark golden radiance erupted from him. If I don’t use the Yama Golden Body now, I might not get another chance!

”Yama Sky Demon Flash!”

Luo Yutang unleashed his most powerful technique. A beam of dark golden light, like a laser, shot out and struck one of the Capture Officers.

AHH!

With a bloodcurdling scream, a large hole was blasted through the Capture Officer’s chest. He died instantly, without even a chance to react.

”Third Brother!” the lead Capture Officer cried out, his face contorting in grief as he wailed.

”Again!”

Luo Yutang activated the Yama Sky Demon Flash once more. Another dark golden beam erupted, felling a second attacker.

”Boss, we’re no match for him! We have to retreat!” The remaining Capture Officer, utterly terrified after seeing two comrades killed, looked at Luo Yutang with trepidation and pleaded.

”Go!”

His face a mask of utter grief, the middle-aged Capture Officer reeled. My plan is in ruins! Not only did we fail to kill Luo Yutang, but I’ve lost two brothers. And after this, there’s no returning to the Circuit Capturing Government Office. We’ll be fugitives, hunted by the Capture God Lineage for the rest of our lives.

Without further hesitation, the two survivors turned and fled into the forest.

Luo Yutang watched the two flee but didn’t give chase. Using the Yama Sky Demon Flash twice had exacted a heavy toll; he was now a spent force. The moment the two vanished, he spat out a mouthful of blood, his face taking on a faint golden pallor.

Damn it. I need to find a place to recuperate immediately.

His expression flickered. Those four were audacious, daring to pull something like this. Could it be... they were the ones who killed Junior Brother Bai Shaochuan?

He was beginning to seriously doubt that Ling Chen was Bai Shaochuan’s killer. Ling Chen himself had denied it. Besides, Ling Chen had no quarrel with their Capture God Lineage, so why would he murder Bai Shaochuan? There were too many suspicious points.

With this thought, he leaped into the forest on the other side and vanished. The plain fell silent once more.

「About the time it takes to drink half a cup of tea later.」

WHOOSH!

Suddenly, the sound of rushing air split the silence, and a youth dressed in black appeared on the plain.

He carefully surveyed the area. Surprise flickered in his eyes, and he frowned. ”There were sounds of fighting here just moments ago. How did they vanish so quickly?”

The black-clad youth looked up, revealing a rather sinister face. It was none other than Tang Long, the one who had orchestrated Bai Shaochuan’s death.

I’d intended to finish off Luo Yutang here as well, to further deepen the enmity between Ling Chen and the Capture God Lineage. I didn’t expect to lose his trail.

Like the four Capture Officers, Tang Long had also tailed Luo Yutang from the beginning, lying in wait around Hanmei Villa. He had been biding his time, ready to strike, but he was still a step too late.

Normally, Luo Yutang wouldn’t have escaped my grasp. I was confident I could kill him. Clearly, someone beat the grass and startled the snake, engaging Luo Yutang before I could and scaring him off.

Even Luo Yutang lost to that Ling Chen brat. If we don’t dispatch some truly formidable individuals to handle him, there’s no way we’ll recapture Luo Xian’er.

Although Tang Long yearned to personally exact revenge on Ling Chen for his severed arm, he was self-aware enough to know he was no match for Ling Chen. He couldn’t act rashly. His only option was to report these events to the Fifth Elder behind him and await further instructions.

Staring at the surroundings with a dark expression, Tang Long slowly melted into the shadows.
