Ling Tian Sword God

Within the back palace of Green Cloud Mountain.

In one of the secluded courtyards, the room’s interior decor was very simple yet tasteful. On the bed lay a woman in white; it was none other than Xu Ruoyan.

Next to the bed, a beautiful woman was feeding Xu Ruoyan medicinal soup, while Ling Chen and Liu Feiyue observed from the side.

After the beautiful woman finished feeding the medicine, Ling Chen carefully asked, ”How is she, Doctor Immortal?”

”Rest assured. With the Rejuvenation Pill made from Deer Reviving Grass, her health will soon recover. Her meridians, Dantian, and physical constitution will gradually return to normal. As long as she diligently practices, her martial arts can also gradually recover.”

Doctor Immortal glanced at Ling Chen and spoke calmly.

”We appreciate your help, Doctor Immortal.”

Only then did joy show on Ling Chen’s face. It seemed their dangerous journey to the Hundred Thousand Mountains was worth it, and their efforts had not been in vain.

”She just needs a good rest now, and Miss Xu’s body will recover. If there’s nothing else, I will take my leave.” Doctor Immortal made a fist salute towards Ling Chen.

”Senior Sister Feiyue, please see Doctor Immortal out,” Ling Chen said, also making a fist salute in return as he addressed Liu Feiyue.

Nodding, Liu Feiyue made a gesture of invitation to Doctor Immortal and then led her out of the courtyard.

Only after the two had left did Ling Chen approach the bedside. He looked at the woman in white on the bed, who appeared somewhat pale, a softness entering his eyes.

”Thank you,” Xu Ruoyan said softly, her gaze fixed on Ling Chen’s face after a long moment.

”There’s no need for formalities between us.”

Ling Chen shook his head. His words warmed Xu Ruoyan’s heart, but then Ling Chen spoke again, ”After all, you are my... best friend.”

He had originally intended to say ’fiancée,’ but then he remembered their engagement had already been dissolved. Xu Ruoyan was no longer his fiancée, so he could only say ’best friend.’

Upon hearing the word ’friend,’ Xu Ruoyan managed a bitter smile. After everything that had happened, had their relationship truly become so estranged? Perhaps she was being paranoid, but it was all her doing. She had torn up the engagement letter and caused the misunderstandings. If Ling Chen no longer loved her, she couldn’t blame him. Not to mention, Ling Chen still had feelings for her. Maybe it was guilt, or maybe, just pity.

”Also, your father entrusted me to take care of you before he died,” Ling Chen said in a low voice. ”Your father, Senior Xu Feihong, was an outstanding hero I admired. I will fulfill his dying wish at all costs.”

Hearing this, Xu Ruoyan became even more certain of her previous thoughts. Her already somewhat pale, beautiful face grew even paler.

”You have already fulfilled my father’s dying wish.” Xu Ruoyan appeared to have calmed down, her expression becoming more indifferent. ”Thank you for saving my life, helping me heal, and recover my martial arts. I will repay this kindness.”

”There’s no need.” Ling Chen frowned. He noticed Xu Ruoyan’s tone was off; it seemed as if she was intentionally distancing herself from him.

”No, I must repay you,” Xu Ruoyan insisted.

”As you wish.” Ling Chen didn’t argue further. He simply nodded and then said, ”But before that, you need to recover here. Only when your injuries are completely healed can you repay my kindness.”

”Mm,” Xu Ruoyan acknowledged with a nod, her gaze on Ling Chen. Her mind also regained its calm.

She had no time to think about these things now. She was currently responsible for the revival of the Sky Void Palace. Even for the sake of restoring the Sky Void Palace, she needed to recover her health quickly.

「Three days later.」

At the Divine Intent Sect Back Mountain, the figures of Shentu Yan and Yun Tianhe were standing before a cliff, seemingly discussing something.

”You’re saying that lad, Ling Chen, has already returned to the Five Kingdoms?” Shentu Yan, who was sitting cross-legged, suddenly opened his eyes and asked. ”He even successfully brought back Deer Reviving Grass from the Desolate Land and cured that Xu Ruoyan?”

Next to him, Yun Tianhe nodded slightly. ”This is information our spies in the Sky Void Palace relayed. What’s more, that kid also repelled the Beast Tide outside the City of Flames and killed the Elder of Myriad Beasts from the Myriad Beasts Sect.”

”The Elder of Myriad Beasts?” Shentu Yan’s pupils contracted slightly, a dark glint flickering in his eyes. ”I heard the Elder of Myriad Beasts raised an extremely powerful Exotic Beast, capable of devouring any creature—quite impressive. He even planned to dominate the Martial World with this beast. And Ling Chen actually killed him?”

”Indeed. It’s said that this Exotic Beast appeared alongside the Elder of Myriad Beasts, but in the end, it seems to have escaped with serious injuries. There are also rumors that it might have already been killed by Ling Chen’s hand.”

Yun Tianhe’s gaze also turned slightly gloomy. The stronger Ling Chen became, the less likely he was to achieve his revenge. Naturally, this news greatly displeased him.

”This just proves that the Exotic Beast wasn’t as fearsome as people exaggerated.” Shentu Yan laughed and shook his head. The death of the Elder of Myriad Beasts is a good thing; otherwise, he would have remained a threat, since his goal was also to rule the entire Martial World. One person with such an objective is more than enough. The Elder of Myriad Beasts and I would have clashed sooner or later. However, now that Ling Chen has eliminated this problem for me in advance, I should even be thanking him.

RUSTLE, RUSTLE, RUSTLE...

Just then, sounds erupted from a nearby forest.

”Who is there?”

Shentu Yan’s hearing was incredibly sharp; even the slightest rustle of wind couldn’t escape his perception.

His words had barely fallen when, WHOOSH, a dark shadow over two meters tall shot out from the forest. The shadow had a ferocious green face and exuded an oppressive aura. It was clearly at the Fourth Rank Middle Stage. One of its three heads was missing, and black blood poured incessantly from the wound. This shadow was none other than the Exotic Demon Beast.

”What kind of Exotic Beast is this? It’s so savage!” Yun Tianhe exclaimed, taking a defensive stance while feeling utterly bewildered. This is the heartland of the Divine Intent Sect; how could such a beast sneak in? It’s incomprehensible!

Just as Yun Tianhe was about to act, Shentu Yan stopped him. A gleam appeared in Shentu Yan’s eyes. ”Don’t be so hasty.”

”Why?” Yun Tianhe asked, confused.

”It seems to have something to say,” Shentu Yan stated, squinting as if he had perceived something.

”An Exotic Beast? And it can speak human language?” Yun Tianhe found it somewhat unbelievable.

As Yun Tianhe was speaking, Shentu Yan had already dashed out to stand before the Exotic Demon Beast. Indeed, on the ground in front of the beast, there was a line of crooked characters scratched out by its claws:

”Kill Ling Chen. Avenge the Elder of Myriad Beasts.”

”Oh? So you’re the Exotic Beast the Elder of Myriad Beasts raised.” Shentu Yan’s eyes lit up as though he had discovered a priceless treasure. He sneered, ”Don’t worry. That kid Ling Chen is sure to die by my hands. Since you wish to avenge the Elder of Myriad Beasts, serve me first. I’ll soon help you accomplish this.”

As if understanding Shentu Yan’s words, the Exotic Demon Beast nodded its remaining head and then prostrated itself before him.

”Very good.”

The cold smile on Shentu Yan’s face grew wider. Even the heavens seemed to be on his side, gifting him such an unparalleled, ferocious beast! With a little nurturing, he believed it would become much easier to eliminate Ling Chen and all other forces opposing him. Dominating the Martial World was now within his grasp.
