Evolution: From Little Devil to Devil Empress

Chapter 216: Awakening

Although Eleanor was only a True Knight and had not advanced, her power had become even stronger, while her brother had remained a mere mortal.

Thus, faced with the aura oppressing him, his body froze in place.

A few drops of blood dripped out of his lips, making it obvious that he had been internally injured.

Glancing at his pale face, a trace of worry flashed in Eleanor’s eyes. However, she quickly disguised it, regaining her original indifference.

”Go and call those ministers over. I have something important to talk to them about.”, she waved her hand and ordered her brother.

If anyone else were here to witness their conversation, they would end up stunned.

After all, just like Eleanor’s earlier words had revealed, her younger brother was no longer an Earl.

After the Day of Divine Punishment, Knights could no longer become Great Knights and were stuck at the True Knight rank forever.

Therefore, Eleanor, a person favored by the Will of the World and defied common sense, had unknowingly become the strongest person in the entire world.

Using this status, she had supported her brother and helped him be crowned as a King, becoming the ruler of the newborn human Empire.

However, it was quite obvious that the structure of this world was not the only thing that had changed after that fateful day.

Eleanor’s attitude towards her brother had also shifted.

Looking at his back as he limped away, countless emotions flashed within her eyes.

Subconsciously, she couldn’t help but raise her head and look above her. At the same time, the image of a person appeared in her mind.

”Is she dead? Or did she leave this world?”

”If not, then...”

She didn’t finish her words. Only her low mutterings echoed in the silent palace.

The fact that the Royal Family had suffered the punishment of the gods had become a commonplace theory.

By now, everyone accepted that this was indeed the truth.

Therefore, the fact that the previous capital had become a forbidden area, where auras constantly clashed and even True Knights had trouble getting out of, was not very surprising.

In people’s opinions, this was the result of the Gods’ remaining auras.

However, there was another place that was equally, if not even more, dangerous, whose formation process humans could not comprehend.

The name given to that area was Blood Sea.

Located to the south of the previous Iron Armor Empire, it had begun as a small pool of red liquid just a few months ago.

At first, everyone thought nothing of it.

But over the next half a year, this blood pool had expanded at an astonishing rate.

As if it were devouring the earth to strengthen itself, it had turned from the initial small pool to a small river and then to a sea.

By now, it had almost become an ocean.

In fact, if anyone were to look at the continent from above, they would discover that the Blood Sea had already covered more than 40% of the continent and was still rapidly expanding.

No one could understand how this sea had been formed or how and why it had been expanding.

Most importantly, though, no one knew that a person was unknowingly sleeping deep at the center of the sea.

It was a woman.

With bloody red hair that mirrored the sea around her, she lay at the bottom of the sea with her eyes closed tight.

She didn’t breathe, nor did she make any movements, as if she were nothing more than a forgotten corpse.

This woman had been in this state for quite some time, for almost half a year.

It seemed that she would remain in such a state until the day her body was extinguished, or some creature happened to discover her.

However, all of the above changed that day.

Out of nowhere, the woman’s eyelashes began to flutter.

The pores of her body grew bigger and became tiny whirlpools, swallowing the blood surrounding her.

Suddenly, her eyes opened wide. A pair of crimson pupils was revealed beneath them.

At first, a confused haze flashed across them. But after a few seconds, the memories of what had occurred popped up in the woman’s mind.

As she digested everything, she understood what was going on and why she was here.

”Did things come to this point?”, Liora couldn’t help but whisper and shifted her gaze to the Blood Sea.

She wasn’t surprised by its existence.

This was her own creation. Or rather, it was a creation of her own ability.

When Liora consumed her Evolution Points and regained her Lesser Devil power, her Myriad Devils Body had undergone a transformation.

It had not only enhanced her defenses and overall physical strength, but had also granted her another brand-new effect.

...

[Myriad Devils Body]

[Effects:]

[...]

[Blood Rebirth: As long as a drop of your blood remains in the world, you can revive. The time required for revival depends on the amount of energy supplied, the severity of the user’s injuries, as well as the outside environment.]

[Reminder: Be careful. Blood Rebirth will be rendered invalid if:]

[1. The user’s soul is completely annihilated.]

[2. The opponent directly destroys all traces of the user’s body.]

...

It had been quite some time since Liora obtained her last ability. However, the effects of Blood Rebirth were earthshattering, making the waiting time worth it.

For all intents and purposes, Blood Rebirth granted Liora a second chance at life.

Besides Reanimation and the preparation she had made at the Ancient Beast Wilderness, this new ability was her most powerful trump card and her greatest source of confidence to involve herself in the events of the Founding Emperor.

”Still... The situation was very dangerous. The Zerg Hive’s final attack almost annihilated my soul. If it were just a little bit stronger, Blood Rebirth would be rendered ineffective.”, Liora realized and felt a chill run down her spine.

But soon, she shook her head.

”Regardless, it worked.”

”My idea to scatter my blood all over the continent was indeed correct. I can sense that several droplets have already been destroyed during this time. Only this part of the blood remained ’alive’.”, she thought as she observed the sea of blood around her.
