Chapter 209: The Cage Breaks

The moment the blood dripped into the Founding Emperor’s body, his movements froze abruptly.

For a second, it seemed as if time itself had paused.

Losing Liora’s suppression, the mysterious blood’s dangerous nature awakened.

Its devouring properties were activated, and turning into a giant mouth, it began biting on the Emperor from within.

The Founding Emperor wanted to put up some defense, but before he could struggle, an overwhelming aura emanated from the mysterious blood and pressed on him.

Although the mysterious blood was facing the world’s suppression, having devoured the blood of many King of Knights beasts before, it was now able to exert a large part of its full power.

For the first time in a long time, the mysterious blood displayed its bizarreness.

By now, it had become apparent that this blood did not belong to merely two True Devil beings.

Its owners had at least reached the Greater Devil stage, if not advanced even further.

As its mere aura stunned the Founding Emperor, the mysterious blood resumed its devouring.

It swallowed his flesh, bones, and carapace.

His proud defense, which required the concentrated efforts of hundreds of beasts to penetrate, proved worthless in front of the mysterious blood.

A loud, high-pitched shrill escaped the Founding Emperor’s mouth, being the instinctive reaction of his body to danger.

The next moment, Liora watched his body being erased from existence, as if an invisible hand was holding an eraser and wiping him out.

The constant buzzing that had echoed since his awakening ceased.

The insects that he had created during the earlier fight also vanished, leaving Liora alone in the entire capital.

Or to be more accurate, Liora was left alone, facing the floating mysterious blood.

Although the Founding Emperor was dead, Liora was not relieved.

She now faced another challenge—taming the mysterious blood that had gone out of control.

”Fortunately, the long time I’ve spent with it and my research of its properties have allowed me to establish a certain connection with it.”, Liora thought.

She stretched her hand, tugging on the invisible thread connecting her and the blood droplet.

Immediately, she noticed the blood’s struggle. It wanted to escape her clutches and corrupt the world and every living being in it.

Fortunately for the other creatures in the world of Knights, Liora was not planning to let it do as it wished.

Her demonic energy flared, and she poured most of her strength into her hand, tugging on the invisible thread.

This sudden action caught the blood off guard. Unable to resist the pull, it shot forward, flying towards her.

While it was still mid-air and before it could evade, Liora moved again.

A wooden chest, the one that she had always stored it in, appeared and engulfed it.

The next moment, the lid of the chest was placed back onto the chest as countless tiny Devil Runes flashed across its wooden surface.

The chest shook for a brief moment as the mysterious blood rioted and began smashing against its walls.

Thankfully, its struggle soon ceased.

Affected by the chest’s effects, the mysterious blood was soon put to sleep, unable to cause any more chaos.

Sensing this, Liora breathed a sigh of relief.

She understood that her plan had gone well so far and nothing unexpected had occurred.

Through using two of her trump cards, Reanimation and the mysterious blood, she had been able to deal with perhaps the most difficult enemy she had faced so far.

Liora knew very well that this was not because she was necessarily stronger than the Founding Emperor.

Rather, it was because she had been decisive and had not hesitated to use many methods she previously held secret.

The cost, however, was also obvious. Now, any potential enemies would be prepared to deal with the two trump cards she had displayed.

”Fortunately, everything was worth it.”, Liora whispered as she shifted her gaze to the white illusory silhouette standing not far away.

It had the appearance of a young man and was surrounded by countless tiny insects, making its identity obvious.

It was the Founding Emperor, or rather, the soul left behind after his death.

Seeing the insects still squirm despite his death, Liora couldn’t help but feel disgusted.

She could be certain that if any other Devil were in her place, killing the Founding Emperor would be utterly meaningless.

Not only would devouring his soul not bring any benefits, but it would also prove extremely harmful.

Most likely, the Devil would end up influenced by the Zerg’s traits, unless they were strong enough to overpower their influence.

”Thankfully, unlike other Devils, I don’t devour souls directly. Rather, I have the Evolution System do it for me.”, Liora thought and stretched her hand, grabbing the Emperor’s soul.

The moment she came into contact with it, the soul melted and entered her body.

If she were to take a look at the System at this time, she would discover that her Evolution Points were skyrocketing at an incredible rate.

Even the earlier war, during which she had devoured the souls of countless humans and beasts, had not brought her such great benefits.

Liora couldn’t help but smack her lips in satisfaction. She was about to smile when her expression suddenly turned serious.

Raising her head, she expanded her consciousness and observed her surroundings, mostly paying attention to the battlefield between the Pope and the two other men.

Immediately, a shocking scene caught her attention.

Duke Dandelion, who had led her here and had given a passionate speech just not long ago, was now covered in crimson blood.

Not of the Pope nor of the Beast Emperor. Instead, it was of his own.

An illusory hand could be seen penetrating through his abdomen and clutching onto his Life Seed, before it clenched it tightly and shattered it.

The owner of the hand was none other than the Beast Emperor.

Before Liora could analyze what happened, the entire world shook violently. Not the ground, but the world as a whole.

The ground, the sky, and even space itself began to shake.

A deafening cry, as if a mother had lost its child, echoed throughout the continent as bloody rain began falling from the sky, like the tears of the Will of the World.

It seemed to be saddened by the death of Duke Dandelion, but most importantly, mourning for something else.

It didn’t take long for Liora to find out what that ”something else” was.

The moment the Duke took his final breath, a huge crack appeared in the blue sky, like a scar stretching for countless kilometers onto its surface.

Inside the crack appeared to be a massive prison, as countless ”metal” bars were stacked next to and on top of each other.

However, this prison created with World Origin, which should have been indestructible and lasted forever, was broken the very next second.

The ”metal” bars started shattering one after another, each producing a thunderous sound that spread everywhere.

When the last bar of the prison was destroyed, the boundless pitch-black darkness was unveiled behind it.

The next second, two icy-cold eyes opened within the prison, like two torches lighting up inside a dark room.
