Demon Cultivator in Abyssal Era

Chapter 400: Chapter 208: Apocalypse Difficulty 2

The reemerging words caused even Chu Xiu to draw in a sharp breath.

”Eternal Hunter! Alien Civilization Envoy?”

”Do the aliens also have a Civilization Envoy?”

Although Chu Xiu knew that the Abyss contained countless worlds, at the very least numbering in the quintillions, with a large number of intelligent lifeforms other than humans.

But an Alien Civilization Envoy, this was the first time he had heard of it!

”If the Alien Civilization Envoy’s power is similar to a human Civilization Envoy, that means I am to be hunted down by an Envoy?”

If it were merely this, it would be fine, for although a Civilization Envoy is indeed the pinnacle for ordinary geniuses, it doesn’t mean that much to Chu Xiu.

Quite frankly, Chu Xiu could destroy them with a wave of his hand now.

What truly concerned him was this terrifying pursuit mode!

”Any damage received increases corresponding resistance; after being thoroughly killed, it would revive! And even after revival, its basic attributes would double!”

”Even if trapped, the enemy could willingly commit suicide! What’s more outrageous, suicide also has an attribute-boosting effect???”

Looking at the description in front of him, Chu Xiu was left speechless.

This is practically a Doomsday that can revive!

According to past records of Ancient Trials, most trials last for several days.

This would be enough for the enemy to revive a dozen times.

Given these increases in basic values, forget about Chu Xiu, even a Heroic Spirit couldn’t withstand it!

He thought the last difficulty would be extremely abnormal, but he hadn’t expected it to be this abnormal!

”No wonder it’s called Doomsday, the difficulty really is....” Chu Xiu could only force a bitter smile now.

However, having already made his decision, Chu Xiu wouldn’t regret or lament but began to analyze countermeasures carefully.

”Facing it head-on is definitely not feasible, defeating it three times would make its basic attributes soar to eight times, even if its equipment skills do not update accordingly, the battle power increase of less than eight times would still give me a headache, not to mention that they would adapt to my attack methods.”

”Even if I could defeat it, dealing with this relentless harassment would leave me without the energy to complete the tasks.”

”So, I must avoid confrontations and complete the trial task as quickly as possible, never dragging it to seven days.”

In the seven days, the enemy could revive thirteen times even if it kept committing suicide, meaning a base attribute increase of eight thousand times, just a finger could crush Chu Xiu!

”Fortunately, this trial task is somewhat humane, prohibiting phantoms from interfering with task progress, otherwise, if they slaughtered local residents to force me out, it would be an unsolvable predicament.”

With a silent shake of his head, Chu Xiu stopped overthinking.

In the following time, he arranged real-life matters, bid farewell to friends, made a reasonable excuse to his parents about going out to play, and after arranging everything, Chu Xiu no longer hesitated and formally began the trial.

[Trial starts, Deep Diving in progress...]

[Deep Diving completed, current depth: 1479]

Chu Xiu composed himself and started examining the details of the task description.

[Trial Name: Eight Celestial Dragons]

[Basic Tasks:

[1. Preserve the flame of civilization as much as possible, current progress: 100%/100%]

[2. Bring the flame of civilization back to the Corpse Demon World, current progress: 0/100%]

[Trial Task: Survive seven days or bring more than 50% of the existing civilization fire back to the Corpse Demon World.]

[Trial Description: In an isolated Shelter, the Abyssal Power is descending, and you need to help the humans there escape their inevitable doom.]

[Trial Time Limit: Seven days]

[Trial Basic Reward: 11,800 Cause and Effect Points + Artifact Equipment Reward]

The task description made Chu Xiu appear pensive.

”Apparently, in terms of tasks, the Apocalypse Difficulty is not much different from ordinary Ancient Trials.”

Before coming, Qin Xiang had provided all past data of Ancient Trials, including the state of the Trial Taker at that time, experiences of the tasks, etc.

Their basic task is the same, which is to protect the civilization fire and bring the civilization fire back to the original world.

The so-called civilization fire refers to the humans in the trial ground, with the scale of Fierce Tier Ancient Trials usually ranging from hundreds to thousands.

For the two tasks, the former doesn’t need much elaboration; it’s about repelling the Abyssal monsters, while the latter relies on the Trial Taker gathering information to respond.

For example, there was a trial where the location of the Shelter was three thousand meters underground, and the Trial Taker needed to open a pathway to the Earth Surface and transport 50% of the surviving humans out to succeed in the task.

Of course, there’s a sneaky little trick here, that when driven to an unavoidable desperate situation, one can actively abandon most and let them die, for instance, if only ten people are left alive, then bringing out five would be enough to make the task a success.

However, naturally, the task rating and rewards would be ridiculously low, offering no real help to humanity, but it’s a decent method for saving your own life in critical times.

In Chu Xiu’s impression, it seems that out of all twenty-seven Civilization Envoys, only one used this method, and that was during a General Tier Ancient Trial, where originally over ten thousand humans ended up with only three surviving, offering nearly no help to humanity.

Of course, this person would naturally never admit to such behavior, but it was deduced by Investigation Bureau operatives during subsequent analysis.

Reportedly, something happened later, leading to this person’s Civilization Envoy privilege being directly revoked despite still holding the Proof of the Old Days, and the bureau even issued a wanted order for him.

Thinking no more about it, Chu Xiu pondered on his own task.

”Clearing a pathway to the Corpse Demon World shouldn’t be too difficult; with the Ghostly Legion around, I can carve out a way up from several thousand meters underground in under a day, even if the Shelter’s location is in some other extreme environment, it’s likely not a problem.”

”What I need to focus on is minimizing human losses as much as possible....”

”Additionally, the name of this trial is also something to pay attention to.”

The Eight Celestial Dragons refer to eight mythical creatures in Buddhism, divided into Heaven Dwellers, Dragon Dwellers, Yaksha, Qian Dapo, Asura, Garuda, Kinnara, and Mahoraga.

Could this trial be related to the Buddhist Sect?

Chu Xiu stroked his chin, deep in thought.

However, he didn’t dwell too long; thinking too much prematurely is meaningless, specific strategies must be set after understanding the actual situation.

Chu Xiu’s primary goal is still to, in the shortest time, ascertain the number of humans in the trial ground, their strength and technological level, social structure, the dangers they face, and so on.

With determination set, Chu Xiu no longer hesitated and entered the Awakening Space to start the trial.

A familiar gravitational force drew him into an unknown Chaotic Space.

Everything around was void, the time and space axles all contorted and deformed, Chu Xiu completely lost perception of time and space, and after who knows how long, suddenly his body was caught by familiar gravity.

”Pla-dak.”

With a soft echo, Chu Xiu’s feet landed on solid ground, the distorted chaotic space gradually solidifying, light re-entering his eyes, forming a new image in his mind.

The place he was in seemed to be a passageway within an underground Shelter.

This passageway was quite wide, able to accommodate three pickup trucks side by side, and nearly five meters high, surrounded by steel structures filled with concrete for stabilization; however, seemingly aged over the years, the steel long covered with thick rust, mingling with the soil, emitted a yellow-gray dirty sensation.

”It seems this Shelter has been around for quite some time, thirty years? Fifty years? No, it feels even longer...”

Chu Xiu touched the walls and then gently pinched, and the solid steel structure was forced into a pit by his fingers.

”These walls seem to have been maintained afterward.”

Chu Xiu made a mental calculation and then spread his Divine Sense, instantly taking in everything within a five hundred meter radius into his mind.
