Warlock Apprentice

Chapter 1250: Section 1251 Future Concerns

Sanders’s eyes narrowed slightly as he quietly watched Angel’s movements.

All of a sudden, Angel’s aura changed, and in the flickering of his eyes, green patterns scattered.

At this moment, Sanders already had a vague feeling that something was amiss.

Suddenly, Angel’s gaze shot directly at Sanders, and in an instant, an eerie oppressive force spread outward from Angel like ripples, forming a circular wave.

Sanders’s pupils contracted slightly, because this oppressive feeling also affected him!

It wasn’t just a sense of oppression, but he also noticed a shadowy figure looming behind Angel.

...
Although the features of this Shadowy figure were indistinct, it was noticeably taller than Angel, with long golden hair, a blurred face, and the only shining part was its right eye!

Looking at that glowing right eye, a dangerous signal suddenly flashed through Sanders’s heart.

As the Shadowy figure’s glowing right eye gradually aligned with Angel’s, the sense of oppression peaked at that instant! This oppressive feeling was even more intense than before!

Even though his body, mind, and spirit could still move, there was a sense of delay as if time had slowed down!

“Inconceivable!” Sanders was inwardly astonished. Could an Apprentice’s ability affect a True Knowledge Wizard? This was only possible for the most top-tier Talent, and even then, if an Apprentice were to use it, at best it could cause a short disturbance to a True Knowledge Wizard. Against Sanders, it should be completely ineffective, yet Angel’s ability truly posed a threat!

At the moment when the oppression peaked, Angel suddenly burst into action.

He transformed into a Phantom Shadow, charging towards Sanders at an incredibly high speed, with a hidden excitement flickering in his eyes.

As if a streak of light, Angel was instantly in front of Sanders, pulling back his fist and foot without warning, aiming directly at Sanders!

Judging by Angel’s expression and actions, he was clearly holding a grudge from their last encounter outside the Ice Valley.

A hint of amusement flashed through Sanders’s eyes.

Angel’s thoughts were indeed as such. Last time, he was caught off guard by Sanders’s test outside the Ice Valley, and now he was ready to pay him back in kind. He wanted to take advantage of the moment he activated his right eye to settle the score.

Angel’s plan was simple; it was certainly impossible to win, but as long as he could touch Sanders, he would consider it evening the score. If he could even slightly injure Sanders, all the better.

With this thought, Angel’s movements became even more agile. When he saw Sanders did not react under the influence of the right eye, he couldn’t help but feel triumphant inside: “This time, I have won!”

But after a while, Angel’s movements suddenly froze.

Why did he not feel any contact with a solid body? His punches and kicks felt as if he was hitting the air?

Confused, Angel lifted his head, and there he was, within arm’s reach of Sanders, clearly seeing Sanders’s lips curve slightly, his eyes mocking.

At the same time, Sanders’s figure was gradually becoming less solid, fading into a blur.

“An… Illusion?” Horror filled Angel’s eyes. “How is that possible?! When did the switch happen?”

“At the moment you harbored malicious thoughts,” Sanders’s voice came from behind.

Angel turned around, only to see Sanders standing behind him with a cold smile. By now, the glow in Angel’s right eye had dimmed, as he had accumulated too little of the Nightmare Realm’s energy and could only maintain it for a moment before.

Without the aid of the right eye and facing Sanders’s approach, the outcome was predictable.

After a while, Angel, still groggy, felt like he had just received a solid beating from Sanders.

But when he came to his senses, he realized he had been trapped in an Illusionary Realm, with Sanders quietly watching him from behind the desk.

“Get up if you’ve had enough. We haven’t finished our conversation, so let’s continue,” said Sanders, his voice calm but now slightly more relaxed than before.

He had been longing to give Angel a thrashing, and seizing the opportunity, he was more than willing. However, considering there were still many things that needed clarification from Angel, he chose not to take action but rather created an Illusionary Realm.

Having just escaped the illusion of being thrashed, Angel was still feeling dizzy, but he eventually stood up.

Once slightly more alert, Angel looked at Sanders with a puzzled gaze, clearly still confused about what had just happened.

“The signs before you made your move were too obvious,” said Sanders, pinpointing the reason for Angel’s failure in a single sentence.

That put-on act and cunning look in his eyes might have deceived others, but Sanders, who knew Angel well, could anticipate everything he intended to do with every gesture and word.

Angel only realized at this moment where his tactical misstep lay.

“However, setting aside these external factors, in terms of your ambush strategy alone, it is a commendable tactic. Under its sudden oppression, even Official Wizards might be caught off guard. But your method of ambush still needs strengthening,” Sanders said.

Although Sanders easily broke through Angel’s routine, he had to admit that when faced with the oppression of the right eye, he truly felt threatened.

“Your right eye’s ability hasn’t been fully developed, has it?” Sanders asked.

Angel nodded, his expression a bit disheartened, “At the moment, I only know it seems capable of creating an aura similar to imposing pressure, but it consumes a great deal of the Nightmare Realm’s energy. The green Pattern in my right hand, stockpiled over half a month, I estimate can only last a few seconds.”

If converted into the energy of the Mare Stone, that would be even more frightening.

“It’s not the oppressive feeling of pressure, but it has more room for operation than imposing pressure, and there should be a lot of potential for development,” Sanders paused, “It seems you’ve also turned misfortune into a blessing this time.”

Projected Bloodline strengthened his flesh, not to mention unlocking a Bloodline Talent, but also gaining such a terrifying skill. Although the consumption was great, with Angel’s current half-baked development level and his less-than-stellar strength, to be able to influence a True Knowledge Wizard, his future growth potential was terrifying!

“Whether it’s a fortune or a disaster, I can’t tell,” Angel sighed softly, “I always feel that the closer my Bloodline is to him, the more I have this illusion of not being myself.”

Sanders said, “His strength has reached a level that’s difficult to speculate. He certainly wouldn’t do something pointless, so obviously, you are of use to him. As for what use, that remains unknown.”

“However, given his level, it’s impossible for you to come into contact with him, at least in the short term. In other words, even if you’re useful to him, it’s not right now.”

“Perhaps only when you step into the ranks of Legend, or an even higher level, will you understand his purposes. Until then, you should be safe.”

…

“The future is an underlying concern, no doubt. But at present, no matter how you think about it, you won’t find the answer, like trying to ponder human thoughts from an ant’s perspective—the levels are different, and just thinking about it is a joke,” Sanders concluded this thought before shifting the topic, “Continue, I understand about the Projected Bloodline, what’s next? The True Spirit Force should have attracted many covetous eyes, yes?”

Angel nodded, “When he left, he gave me a portion of his memories. These memories contain everything that happened and also warned me that countless gazes are being cast upon the Continent of Yuantan. Although I’m not clear where these gazes are coming from, they undoubtedly all covet the True Spirit Force.”

“The True Spirit Force is still constrained by the green Pattern into a tree. Right now, my only choice is to release it for the soon-to-collapse Continent of Yuantan. Doing so will attract the Abyssal Will, and for a short time, the situation within Yuantan will not be detected by outsiders, which can buy me time to leave.”

Upon hearing this, although Sanders felt a pang at the loss of the immense True Spirit Force, he had to admit that this was probably the best choice under the circumstances.

From last night until this morning, he had been analyzing the situation all night. His greatest concern was that the fall of the Demon God True Spirit would inevitably draw the attention of the titans of the Abyss upon Angel.

Now, he finally felt relieved. From Angel’s choices to the fact that Angel was standing alive before him, it was clear he had successfully evaded those prying eyes.

Apparently, the memories ‘he’ left to Angel had considered all of Angel’s current predicaments.

Angel continued, “Next, I dispersed the True Spirit Force to the Continent of Yuantan. Then, when the Abyssal Will descended, I began looking for an exit.”

“What about the others? The soul of Aoluxiya, and that young Fire Demon, you let them go?”

Angel nodded, recounting the incident where Greerwu had previously saved Toby.

“If it weren’t for Greerwu, Toby might have vanished in the Void by now, so…”

Sanders nodded; he knew Toby’s place in Angel’s heart. The soul of Aoluxiya, although valuable, was ultimately less significant than the body.

Yet Angel let Lucia go, without worrying about future retaliation, even sacrificing two blossoms of Primeval Flame, and Sanders still felt a twinge of regret.

“You must take responsibility for the decisions you make. I hope you will not regret it.” Sanders didn’t pursue the topic any further, simply offering this reminder.

With that, Sanders’ mood finally began to lighten. In his view, Angel’s troublemaking should have ended.

What should have followed was a rather mundane search for an exit and then departure from the Continent of Yuantan. At most, there may have been some adventures, like acquiring the black feather of Kulangduo.

Then, until he went to look for Angel, only a few days had passed. During that period, Angel seemed unharmed and must have had a smooth journey.

However, when Angel began to narrate his story, Sanders realized he was mistaken.

“At the other end of the continent, someone was calling out to me.”

With Angel’s first sentence, Sanders’s gaze sharpened. He immediately thought, was everything that happened here, besides Greerwu and Popota, observed by someone else?

Setting aside Popota, who was temporarily in their custody, and considering the dangerous balance with Greerwu and Lucia, there was no reason to worry they would disclose what happened here.

But if others were aware, then the likelihood of Angel being exposed was immense!
