Urban Seduction: Housewives Club

Chapter 213: The Fall of Ruolan

Indeed, Dongfang Ruolan was feeling a bit down. Over a decade ago, she had already begun working on the Tendon-Connecting and Pulse-Continuing Pill. It was only recently that she had made a breakthrough.

The reason she had gone to such lengths to develop something that was both lost to time and not particularly useful now was simple: it was for the boy in front of her, who had been suffering from blocked meridians since childhood.

But now, he had healed himself using an entirely different method.

This made Dongfang Ruolan feel as if she had suddenly lost all her motivation, as if the efforts of more than ten years had been in vain.

Ye Feiʼs ability to read peopleʼs emotions was incredibly sharp.

Seeing Dongfang Ruolanʼs dejection, he didnʼt fully understand why, but he could guess part of it. He said, ”I heard youʼre working on the Tendon-Connecting and Pulse-Continuing Pill?”

This time, he didnʼt call her ”Auntie Dongfang” but simply ”you.”

Although it might have seemed like he was distancing himself, it was intentional. He wanted to have an equal conversation with Dongfang Ruolan; otherwise, the small sense of intimacy they had built would likely fade away soon.

Dongfang Ruolan didnʼt notice the change in how Ye Fei addressed her. She was still lost in her disappointment and said, ”I did some research, but now it seems unnecessary. With your device, this pill has no significance at all.”

She didnʼt mention her years of dedication because she genuinely cared for Ye Fei, not because she wanted to take credit for her efforts.

”How could it have no significance?” Ye Fei smiled.

”My device is useful, but it also has significant side effects. If you compare it to the Tendon-Connecting and Pulse-Continuing Pill, I believe most people would choose the pill.”

”Side effects?”

Dongfang Ruolan repeated, puzzled. Looking at Ye Fei, who seemed full of energy, she couldnʼt see any signs of being affected by side effects. She couldnʼt help but ask, ”What kind of side effects?”

”It causes people to lose their sexual abilities—impotence,” Ye Fei said without hesitation. First, as a doctor, she wouldnʼt be too sensitive about such things.

Second, he wanted to build more intimacy with her.

Sure enough, Dongfang Ruolanʼs face turned slightly red upon hearing this. But then she quickly became anxious and asked, ”So, youʼre affected by this side effect too?”

Ye Fei chuckled and said, ”Didnʼt you already feel it just now?”

”Ugh! Naughty boy!”

Dongfang Ruolanʼs face flushed with embarrassment, and she turned away from him. But inside, she felt relieved.

Ye Fei was the only son of her best friend and the only male heir of the Liu and Ye families. If he had lost that ability, the consequences would have been serious. She actually had another question in mind: why Ye Fei wasnʼt affected, but discussing it would be too embarrassing, so she suppressed her curiosity.

Ye Fei didnʼt leave Dongfang Ruolan too puzzled and explained, ”The one I used was the first one made.

Back then, the device didnʼt have any side effects. But after I used it, it was ruined.

The ones made afterward all had this side effect.” He paused for a moment and then continued, ”And even the first one wasnʼt perfect. Although my body has recovered, most of my meridians are still blocked, and Iʼm not even as good as an average person.”

Concerned about Ye Feiʼs condition, Dongfang Ruolan forgot about her embarrassment and turned back to him, asking, ”Are you saying your device has no effect on the meridians?”

”Well, itʼs not that it has no effect. Otherwise, Uncle Li wouldnʼt have recovered. But the effect is probably not significant.

After I used it, I practiced that technique, but even now, Iʼve only managed to unblock a few of the main meridians,” Ye Fei said, looking into Dongfang Ruolanʼs beautiful eyes with a mix of help and encouragement.

”So, you still need to keep working on the Tendon-Connecting and Pulse-Continuing Pill.”

Dongfang Ruolanʼs emotions had been on a rollercoaster, and she was a bit distracted by Ye Feiʼs actions.

Without thinking, she blurted out, ”Of course, or would my ten years of hard work be in vain?”

”Ten years?”

Ye Fei repeated softly, suddenly realizing how much Dongfang Ruolan cared about him. He was deeply moved and pulled her into a tight hug, holding her soft body close.

”Ruolan, thank you!”

”What did you call me?”

Dongfang Ruolan suddenly pushed Ye Fei away and looked at him coldly.

”N-nothing,” Ye Fei stammered, startled by her sudden change. He realized he had been too hasty and quickly said, ”I, uh, have some things to do, so Iʼll just go.” He scratched his head, stood up, and left her office.

Dongfang Ruolan ignored Ye Fei and coldly watched him leave.

But as soon as he closed the door behind him, her body went limp, and she collapsed onto the desk, her face flushing red again.

In truth, Dongfang Ruolan wasnʼt angry about Ye Feiʼs hug or the intimate way he called her name.

Deep down, she felt a hint of sweetness. After all the flirtatious moments, she had unexpectedly found the electric connection she had always wanted but never experienced.

When Ye Fei hugged her and called her name so intimately, she was almost intoxicated and felt an urge to stay in his arms forever.

But remembering that he was her best friendʼs son, she had to suppress this urge.

Not knowing how to face him, she had no choice but to pretend to be angry and scare him away.

Ye Fei, who left in a hurry, had no idea about Dongfang Ruolanʼs inner turmoil.

After regretting his impulsiveness, he decided to leave the military base and head home.

But then his phone, which hadnʼt rung in a long time, suddenly buzzed. He took it out and saw it was a call from Ye Ningsuan.

Ye Fei answered the call and asked with a smile, ”Auntie, whatʼs up?”

”Canʼt I call you just because I want to?” came the somewhat reproachful voice of Ye Ningsuan from the other end.

”You heartless boy, youʼve been gone for days and didnʼt even come to see me when you got back. Donʼt you want me anymore?”

Though they hadnʼt met yet, Ye Fei could already picture Ye Ningsuanʼs charming expression, a mix of allure and reproach, and he felt a surge of warmth in his heart.

The fire he had just suppressed with Dongfang Ruolan flared up again, even stronger than before.

”Where are you? Iʼm coming right now,” Ye Fei said, knowing that if he didnʼt comfort Ye Ningsuan properly, she might really get upset.

So he put aside the idea of going home.

Hearing that Ye Fei was on his way, Ye Ningsuan immediately cheered up and said cheerfully, ”Iʼm at home. Just come over. Iʼll be waiting!”

Then she hung up, seemingly in a hurry for some reason.

It wasnʼt a holiday or weekend, so his cousin definitely wouldnʼt be at home. Ye Fei didnʼt have to worry about anything.

After calling home, he hailed a taxi and headed to Ye Ningsuanʼs little villa.

Ye Fei was now the hidden male owner of this villa, so he naturally had the key to the front door.

There was no need for Ye Ningsuan to open the door for him. He let himself in.

Ye Ningsuan wasnʼt waiting for him in the living room, so Ye Fei went straight to her bedroom.

But when he entered, he was taken aback because Ye Ningsuan was nothing like what he had imagined.

Ye Fei had thought that after being apart for so many days, and knowing that Ye Ningsuan was a woman with significant needs, she would be extremely eager.

He wouldnʼt have been surprised if she had been wearing something very sexy or even nothing at all.

But at that moment, Ye Ningsuan was wearing a rather conservative nightgown and sitting quietly on the edge of the bed, reading a book under the bedside lamp.

This scene felt incredibly familiar to him because his mother, Liu Yiru, used to dress the same way at home and also enjoyed reading under the bedside lamp.

As Ye Fei entered, Ye Ningsuan looked up at him and offered a warm, motherly smile, asking, ”Do you like it?”

In that moment, Ye Fei understood why Ye Ningsuan had hung up the phone in such a hurry.

It felt as though something had struck the softest part of his heart, and he was deeply moved.

This woman, to satisfy his own maternal complex, had actually suppressed the jealousy that any woman might feel and had made herself resemble Liu Yiru so closely, even mimicking her tender smile with such authenticity.

It showed that her love for Ye Fei was so profound that she was almost losing herself in the process.

How could he not be touched by that?

Striding quickly to Ye Ningsuanʼs side, Ye Fei pulled her into a tight embrace and said with deep emotion, ”Ningsuan, thank you. But you are you. Thereʼs no need to deliberately imitate anyone. I admit that seeing you like this gives me a special sense of fulfillment, but thatʼs not truly you. She has her own virtues, and you have yours. Both of you are unique in my heart and deeply loved by me. So, just be yourself.”
