New Age Of Summoners

Chapter 921: Change of plans

”Captain Edmond, what shall we do now?”

Inside the cave of the cursed wilderness, Ajax asked Captain Edmond about his plan regarding the Quickthunder mercenary squad.

Even though Ajax had enough power to erase the Quickthunder mercenary squad, he didnʼt want to randomly kill the people without knowing the reason.

Right now, Ajax found out the reason why the Quickthunder mercenary squad is searching for Captain Edmond and Udo.

However, since he already met with Captain Edmond and Udo, Ajax didnʼt bother to waste his strength on the Quickthunder mercenary squad.

”Since they want our heads, they should be ready for me to take their heads.”

All of a sudden, the environment in the cave turned serious as Edmond replied to Ajax with an evil look on his face.

In this world, the cultivators didnʼt think much about killing other cultivators. Moreover, the Quickthunder mercenary squad came to kill him. So, Captain Edmond would not feel anything even if kill the entire squad.

”The traps placed in the cave will kill everyone except for Captain Berk. So, at that time, letʼs see who will have the last laugh.”

From the side, Udo walked towards Ajax with an evil smile as Edmond.

ʼ...ʼ

Ajax was speechless when he saw the evil smile and evil look on Udo and Edmond respectively; however, he was not shocked much though.

After saying those words, Captain Edmond and Udo sat down and waited for the Quickthunder mercenary squad to get killed by themselves.

As for Ajax, he also waited to see how many would survive from the hidden traps placed by Edmond and Udo.

....

Outside the cave.

Captain Berk and his squad members were waiting for a green signal from the squad member who entered the cave.

ʼEveryone, you can enter now.ʼ

Soon, they got the green signal they were waiting for and without wasting any time, they slowly walked in the same footsteps of the squad member.

Even though Captain Berk pushed that squad member into the cave, everyone knew that the squad member would not harm them. So, they followed behind him.

ʼCaptain Berk, there are three tunnels here. Which one should we enter?ʼ

Whether it was their luck or Captain Edmondʼs bad luck, they didnʼt trigger a single hidden trap until they reached the tunnel. After reaching the tunnel, one of the squad members asked Captain Berk about the tunnel.

ʼSince there are three tunnels, you form a two-man team and enter each tunnel. As for the vice-captain, he will stay with me.ʼ

After thinking for a moment, Captain Berk formed three two-men teams and sent them into the three tunnels.

ʼYes, Captain Berk.ʼ

Without a choice, the six squad members nodded their heads with bitter smiles on their faces.

They knew that if they went against Captain Berkʼs orders, they would be killed right now. So, they wanted to try their luck going into the tunnel.

By chance, if they encounter Captain Edmond, they thought to beg him to let them go and blame their Captain Berk for forcing them into the tunnel.

Since Captain Edmond was known for his leniency, they could have more chances of living with Captain Edmond compared to Captain Berk.

ʼSwooshʼ

Without wasting any time, one team entered the biggest tunnel hoping there would be fewer traps in that tunnel.

ʼKachaʼ

ʼAarghʼ

ʼKachaʼ

Just as they took a step into the tunnel, sharp rocks appeared out of the walls of the tunnel piercing through their bodies.

Within a few moments, they twitched a little before leaving their breaths forever.

ʼWhat?ʼ

Everyone including Captain Berk got shocked when they saw how fast their squad members died without a chance to retaliate.

ʼCaptain Berk, if you donʼt mind, I have a suggestion for you.ʼ

Looking at the two fallen squad members, one of the remaining squad members transmitted his voice to Captain Berk.

ʼSpeakʼ

Clenching his fists, Captain Berk nodded his head at that squad member.

ʼI am very sure that Captain Edmond and Udo were hiding in the cave. So, why donʼt we go back and inform the royal family?ʼ

Since Edmond was hiding in one of the tunnels with many traps, that squad member gave the suggestion to go back to the royal family.

ʼDamn it...damn it.ʼ

Captain Berk cursed Captain Edmond for hiding with many traps.

ʼI have to calm down.ʼ

Soon, Captain Berk calmed himself down and started thinking about his squad memberʼs suggestion.

ʼRight!ʼ

After thinking for a moment, Captain Berk came to a decision and said to his remaining five squad members, ”Since we are not lucky enough to capture Edmond and Udo, itʼs better for us to go back and inform the royal family to get the reward.”

While saying those words, Captain Berk didnʼt bother to speak in voice transmission or whispers; instead, he spoke a little louder.

ʼYes, Captain Berk. You are not as cruel as we think you are.ʼ

ʼFinally, Captain Berk was able to speak with common sense.ʼ

Most of them didnʼt dare to say those words loudly and only said to themselves.

”Everyone, letʼs go.”

After saying those words, Captain Berk and his squad members left the cave the same way they entered it.

….

Deep inside the cave,

”What the hell? They left just like that?”

After hearing the words of Captain Berk, Captain Edmond and Udo were a little disappointed because it was not what they thought would happen.

They thought that destroying the Qucikthunder mercenary squad would make the other mercenary squad away from them; however, right now, they were just leaving the cave.

”Captain Edmond, it is not a good thing for them to leave. If we let them go, we have to find another hiding place and arrange the hidden traps. It would be a troublesome job to do.”

Soon, Udo said to Captain Edmond with an anxious look on his face.

”There is that again.”

Captain Edmond revealed a troublesome look on his face as he stood up.
