I Became The Chief Of A Primitive Village

Chapter 1177, Official Goods Delivery

The cleaners of the Flame Dragon Tribe were sweeping snow off the main road, keeping the Tribe’s traffic clear and unobstructed.

Su Bai had risen a little later than usual today. The weather was rather cold, and getting up early would have meant not quite enough sleep.

The Yong’an Building had heating, though, so getting up in the morning was not particularly difficult.

It was simply that cold weather made a person sluggish and drowsy, so naturally he had slept in a little.

“Shaman, everything the other Tribes ordered is ready. In a few days, once the snow isn’t too heavy, we can send it all out.” Sha Lan said.

Sha Lan had come over specially from the Chieftain’s side, as they were discussing the matter of transporting goods to the other Tribes.

When the other Tribes had been preparing to leave, this had already been discussed: during the snow season, these Tribes still wanted goods from the Flame Dragon Tribe.

So, everyone had bought in advance before, and when the snow season came, the goods could be delivered directly to them.

“How many Tribes in total want delivery during the snow season?” Su Bai asked.

He only knew that certain Tribes had this need, but did not know exactly which ones, nor how many there were.

“Almost everyone who came to our Tribe last time wants it, so the demand is still quite high.” Sha Lan said. She glanced at the list and found the numbers were rather high.

Beyond the fact that every Tribe had this need, there was also the question of what they each needed.

If the amounts were too small, the Flame Dragon Tribe would not make the trip, so there was a minimum threshold for the quantity of goods ordered.

“What’s the item with the highest demand?” Su Bai asked. He wanted to know what was most popular.

“Salt has always had the highest demand. Every Tribe orders a lot of it.” Sha Lan thought for a moment, then continued. “After that, it’s preserved meat and wine. The quantities of Animal Hide aren’t small either…”

She drew on her remarkable memory to go through all the orders that had been registered.

Nearly every item had many takers. The only difference was how much each Tribe had ordered.

“From next year onwards, we can raise the price of salt a little. The same goes for wine and linen.” Su Bai mused.

The reason he had set low prices to begin with was to open up the market first.

Now that so many Tribes knew about them, there was no need to keep selling at low prices. The prices could simply be raised.

“We really should talk about that. The prices are all quite low, and every Tribe is ordering large quantities. Carrying on like this, we may not earn much.” Sha Lan nodded in agreement.

She had long felt those prices were a little low, especially when she saw certain Tribes buying with obvious greed.

“How is the Giant Shell Land Tortoise customisation coming along?” Su Bai asked.

Since the topic of deliveries had come up, it was worth checking on the delivery vehicles through land.

The Six Eyed Red Birds had been ready for a long while, but the volume they could carry was limited.

The Giant Shell Land Tortoise was now the Flame Dragon Tribe’s primary delivery vehicle, and it had long since been handed over to the stonemason’s side to be worked on.

“Uncle Shan Qiu says it’s finished. Waterproofing, windproofing, snowproofing… all of it is done. Once the compartments are shut, they are completely sealed.”

Sha Lan played with a strand of her blue hair and continued. “And the Giant Shell Land Tortoise can move about during the snow season as well. As long as the goods are loaded in the next few days, it can set off.”

She had gone to inspect the Giant Shell Land Tortoise’s completion herself, and she was quite satisfied with what she found.

“And the passenger capacity? Did they leave a dedicated space for people, as I said?” Su Bai asked.

“Don’t worry, Shaman. Right in the centre of the front section of the shell, there’s a very spacious area. That spot is reserved specifically for the Warriors to rest. It’s all done according to the design you provided.” Sha Lan said with a smile.

The design Su Bai had drawn had a section at the front of the shell set aside as open space.

It was to be hollowed out like the rest, but the ceiling was not wood or stone, it was specially fitted with a glass panel for a vent opening.

The advantage of a glass seal was that one could see the direction ahead and observe the outside, allowing the Warriors to see outside.

“Then this time, let’s not have the Six Eyed Red Birds deliver anything. Let them rest during the snow season.” Su Bai added.

He knew that these Ferocious Beasts generally needed to rest when the snow season came. One could push them, but it would simply drain their spirits and might even affect their health.

“Don’t worry, Shaman. Right now, they’re in their nest eating meat. Once the snow season is over, it’ll be their turn to work hard again.” Sha Lan laughed, covering her mouth.

“Good. Has the Chieftain said when the Giant Shell Land Tortoise is departing?” Su Bai asked.

He had already handed the decision-making on many matters directly to Yan Jiao, so he did not trouble himself with most of it.

As a result, he had quite a bit of free time, and when he was idly curious he would ask after things.

“They say today they’ll finish loading all the goods, and tomorrow they’ll all depart together.” Sha Lan said.

“And how many Totem Warriors are going along this time?” Su Bai continued.

“Five Totem Warriors in total will be escorting the delivery, along with five Warrior Trainees as their assistants. This will allow them to learn along the way.” Sha Lan had recently picked up the word ‘assistants.’

Many Tribes operated this way, sending Totem Warriors out together with Warrior Trainees so that the experienced could properly train the new.

“Okay. Has anyone said roughly when they’ll be back?” Su Bai took a sip of hot tea.

He was only asking about this for the time being. After this, he wouldn’t keep asking about these small matters.

The reason he asked now was simply to see how well Yan Jiao was managing things, whether he had the ability to arrange everything properly.

Once Yan Jiao had grown mature in managing affairs, Su Bai could let go completely and leave it to him.

“The Chieftain calculated the time carefully and said it would take over half a month at least.” Sha Lan said softly. Her tone was very relaxed. Before, she would not have dared speak so lightly of such things.

After all, in the old days something like this would have taken the better part of a year at minimum. Half a month was almost unimaginable by comparison.

“That’s not too long. Have the Warriors bring extra weapons and food.” Su Bai reminded them.

“Yes, Shaman.” Sha Lan flicked her cat ears.
