Apocalypse Descent: Farming with My Harem

Chapter 123 - 105: Cloud Yak Appears!

“Come back with us, your father is still waiting for you.”

Liu Muxue’s gentle voice echoed beside her ear, causing the little girl Eliza to nearly succumb entirely.

“O-Okay…”

She instinctively wanted to agree, then immediately shook her head, “No, no, no!”

“Hmm, why is that?” Liu Muxue asked.

Hearing this question, Eliza appeared somewhat bashful, as if hiding some secret.

However, Cao Xing, standing nearby, seemed to understand something.

Cao Xing pointed it out, “You wouldn’t have really found the Cloud Yak, would you?”

Hearing this, the girl with the oval face widened her beautiful eyes at once, “How did you know?!”

Cao Xing chuckled, “Because your father told me that the reason you came out this time was that you discovered traces of a group of Cloud Yaks.”

Upon hearing this, Eliza’s eyes showed a sudden hint of disappointment.

“Why does my father tell you everything…”

In an instant, her eyes showed wariness again, “You don’t also have designs on that group of Cloud Yaks, do you?”

Cao Xing did not deny it.

Eliza quickly shook her head, “Don’t even think about it, the Cloud Yaks are magical creatures that only live in nature, no matter how strong you are, they will not be easily caught by you.”

“Besides, I discovered this group of yaks first, so I won’t take you to find them!”

Hearing this, Cao Xing frowned.

He was just about to speak when Liu Muxue tugged at his sleeve.

Cao Xing understood, allowing Liu Muxue to continue communicating with the girl.

Liu Muxue gently asked again, “Eliza, can you tell us about the Cloud Yaks?”

Little Eliza’s eyes sparkled at Liu Muxue’s voice.

“If it’s this beautiful lady’s request, I can tell you.”

Cao Xing rolled his eyes again. Even with the “Shining Throne” giving him +50 Charm, he felt his charm was no match for Liu Muxue’s.

However, he didn’t mind, as charm was an intrinsic attribute that had different effects on various NPCs, so it was normal for Eliza to be unaffected.

Eliza slowly explained, “I discovered that group of Cloud Yaks in Tuck Valley.”

“I followed their tracks, crossed the snowy plains and forests… and finally found them at Snow Fall Lake.”

“But because Cloud Yaks are highly alert creatures, I didn’t dare get close and could only observe their habits from afar to see if I could find an opportunity.”

Liu Muxue nodded gently and continued to ask, “Did little Eliza observe anything?”

She spoke gently, like coaxing a child.

Eliza shook her head sadly, “No… Cloud Yaks are inherently difficult to tame. I followed them for two days and found no opportunity.”

“The moment I made any slight noise, they would become alert and ready to flee.”

“So, up until now, there has been no progress at all.”

After Eliza finished speaking, understanding dawned in everyone’s eyes.

Andrew, standing beside them, also added, “I have indeed heard that Cloud Yaks have a high level of alertness, almost never appearing in front of people, and moreover, their ability to escape is quite impressive.”

Cao Xing nodded in acknowledgment, then signaled to Liu Muxue beside him.

Liu Muxue understood Cao Xing’s intent, her face continuing to bear a warm smile.

“Eliza, could you take us to see that group of Cloud Yaks?”

Eliza hesitated a little but ultimately nodded, “Alright then, I’ll take you there…”

After she spoke, she turned around and walked cautiously in the direction she had just come from.

Everyone followed behind her, slowing their steps.

Eliza repeatedly cautioned, “Remember to keep the noise down, and whatever you do, do not disturb that group of Cloud Yaks!”

“If they get scared away, we’ll have a hard time finding them again!”

Cao Xing nodded, jumping off Da Bai with Liu Muxue, instructing Da Bai to stay put.

After all, Da Bai’s size was too large, and each step made a heavy sound.

Cao Xing then led his followers closer, bit by bit, to the location Eliza had mentioned.

Five minutes later, they arrived beside some towering Silver Fir Trees.

In the spacious forest area ahead, there appeared a group of yaks with fur in two colors.

With sturdy hooves, standing about two meters tall, and nearly three meters long, their blue and white fur genuinely looked like clusters of moving clouds.

Cao Xing also scanned the attributes of this group of yaks.

[Cloud Yak: Magic Creature]

[Level: 11]

[Life Value: 3360/3360]

[Attack Power: 115~127]

[Attributes: Power 122, Agility 116, Spirit 124, Constitution 154]

[Skills: Nature Perception (can keenly detect surrounding dangers and swiftly escape)

Cloud Rush (when sensing danger, Cloud Yaks will activate the magic within, significantly increasing move speed and evasion probability until they escape from danger)

Nature Protection (after being injured, Cloud Yaks will absorb nature’s power to heal, recovering 5% of life value per second.)]

[Talent ①: Thermal Absorption (absorbs heat and stores it in fur, allowing longer survival in extreme environments.)]

[Talent ②: Crisis Perception (keenly aware of hunters’ various traps, greatly avoiding trap damage)]

(Introduction: A magical group of creatures with extremely strong survival abilities, making them very difficult to tame.)

…

Cao Xing exclaimed, “Wow… Three skills, both talents are survival-based abilities…”

“No wonder Eliza said Cloud Yaks are hard to tame; catching them is nearly impossible!”

However, when Cao Xing noticed the Cloud Yaks’ first talent, [Thermal Absorption], he understood something.

It wasn’t that their fur generated heat autonomously, but rather absorbed heat and stored it in the fur.

Thus, giving the illusion of generating heat.

Yet, this did not diminish the Cloud Yaks’ value.

In such an icy world, having clothes that stored thermal energy was invaluable!

Even a Purple piece of equipment would not trade for that!

Cao Xing then asked, “Has anyone successfully tamed such a yak?”

Eliza nodded, “Yes, a Beast Tamer in Dorun Lake City successfully tamed three Cloud Yaks, and with their fur, he bought a house and even has his farm in Dorun Lake City!”

A Beast Tamer?

Cao Xing fell into contemplation, currently having no means of taming beasts.

Then, was there any other method to tame these wild creatures?

Reflecting for a moment, he noticed over fifty Basic Level Pet Contracts in his backpack.

According to the description, once a contract is successfully signed, the creature will follow Cao Xing’s orders regardless of what it is.

As long as he could confine this group of Cloud Yaks and keep throwing pet contracts at them, with some luck, he might succeed with one or two of them, right?

This was the method Cao Xing currently thought of to tame the Cloud Yaks.

The only downside was that these Cloud Yaks would occupy his population.

After a moment of thought, Cao Xing shook his head, “Occupying a bit of population doesn’t matter. After all, I can release the pet contract anytime.”

“As long as I bring these Cloud Yaks back to camp and keep them there first.”

“Later, after releasing the contract, I can release my population again.”

With this thought, Cao Xing made up his mind.

But there was another problem: the low success rate of the Basic Pet Contract.

Only a 5% success rate.

Unlike the contract with Da Bai, this time, he was preparing for a forced taming, surely leading to fierce resistance from them.

Although he had more than fifty pieces in stock, it was uncertain whether he could tame two Cloud Yaks.

Cao Xing sighed, “Whatever, even taming one would be a profit!”

Remember, Cloud Yak fur can regenerate after being trimmed.

It is a sustainable resource, bringing profit!

Just as Cao Xing was preparing to act, he noticed the Queen Blood Spider nearby.

He recalled that Hilda had a skill called [Soul Scream], which could put weak creatures into a Mind Shock state.

Based on Cao Xing’s understanding of the game, creatures in a Mind Shock state would run chaotically, like headless flies, in a state of fear, increasing the probability of various control skills.

“Could the success rate of the pet contract be increased in this state?”

Cao Xing decided to give it a try.

First, Hilda had to be willing to cooperate.

But if she wouldn’t obey this command, then Cao Xing would have to give up recruiting this creature.

No matter how strong she was, full of potential.

An unruly creature, no matter how powerful, was not wanted by Cao Xing.

Therefore, Cao Xing turned to the Queen Blood Spider, speaking with a serious expression, “Hilda, I need your cooperation to use Soul Scream on these Cloud Yaks. Will that be a problem?”

Upon hearing this command, the Queen Blood Spider slightly turned her head, looking at the distant Cloud Yaks, her eyes showing a glance of an arrogant view.

“Tch!”

Hilda showed her disdain, making a scoffing sound.

Seeing her not answering, Cao Xing’s expression gradually darkened.

Just then, the Queen Blood Spider nodded, “Fine, I will cooperate with you.”

Cao Xing nodded in approval.

Then, he began giving orders, “Andrew, your Druid tribe naturally has a closeness to these wild creatures, so I need you to go and attract this group of Cloud Yaks’ attention.”

“This is not deception, I will not harm them; I only wish to bring them back to the territory.”

“You should know, in our territory, they will have a better life.”

Upon hearing the last sentence, Andrew nodded as well, “I obey your command, esteemed Lord.”
