Apocalypse Descent: Farming with My Harem

Chapter 23: Refugees of Ice Peak City, Alien Ghost

The next day…

Cao Xing woke from his sleep.

At that moment, he realized the bed beside him was already empty, with only the lingering familiar fragrance left on the pillow.

He looked up to see a graceful figure crouched by the stove, preparing breakfast for the day.

This scene made Cao Xing feel somewhat surreal.

Having come to this world for two days, everything had overturned his imagination.

Liu Muxue seemed to notice that Cao Xing had woken up, a bashful expression on her face.

“Axing, you’re awake…”

“Just wait a little bit longer, breakfast will be ready soon.”

The first taste of passion left Liu Muxue with a trace of enchanting blush and a hint of naivety on her face.

She seemed to have quickly assumed her role.

Then, Liu Muxue brought a bowl of delicious-smelling meat soup to Cao Xing.

Cao Xing tasted a mouthful and praised, “Tastes good, Muxue.”

“Really? Hehe…”

Liu Muxue giggled foolishly, “Then have some more.”

Cao Xing nodded.

Watching Cao Xing finish it all in front of her, Liu Muxue was visibly satisfied.

Moments later, she suddenly felt a bit forlorn.

“Axing… last night’s cold snap seemingly killed quite a few people again…”

Cao Xing pondered for a moment and opened the [Regional Channel].

[174 Regional Channel]

[Online Count: 37104/40173]

Compared to yesterday, more than a thousand people had died.

Although the mortality rate had decreased significantly,

if people continued dying at this rate, there wouldn’t be many humans left soon.

Liu Muxue stated worryingly, “Axing, do you think we’ll survive?”

Hearing this, Cao Xing nodded earnestly, “We will, we’ll survive together.”

“Not only will we survive, but we’ll also live very well in this world.”

Liu Muxue, having heard this, nodded as well, “Uh-huh!”

After finishing breakfast, Cao Xing stood up with renewed vigor.

Compared to yesterday, Cao Xing now had one more goal,

which was to survive in this world with Liu Muxue.

He pushed open the door of the Lord’s Hut.

Eight Polar People and Yilena were already waiting at the doorway.

As for Assam, he had woken up early to execute the task Cao Xing had issued, scouting the surrounding environment.

Upon seeing Cao Xing emerge, the group of Polar People greeted in unison, “Good health to you, Lord!”

“Good morning, Second Lord.”

Liu Muxue stood gracefully beside Cao Xing, awaiting his orders.

Cao Xing nodded and said, “Today, your tasks will mainly be focused on constructing the territory buildings.”

“Dazhuang and Erzhuang, focus all efforts on upgrading the [Camp Fire].”

“Sanzhuang and Sizhuang, hurry up with building the [Sewing Shop].”

“Wuzhuang to Bazhuang, your task is to construct the [Blacksmith Shop] and build more [Small Shelters].”

“Understood?”

The eight Polar People immediately straightened up and nodded in response, “Understood, Lord!”

Then, following Cao Xing’s instructions, they began working with clanks and bangs.

At this time, Cao Xing faced a problem.

The territory lacked manpower.

He needed to build many constructions like the [Blacksmith Shop], [Basic Level Elemental Arrow Tower], [Sewing Shop], etc.

But with only 8 Polar People, it was too much to handle.

Cao Xing sighed, “I have so many resources right now; it would be a pity if I can’t convert them into war power.”

“I’ll think of a way later, see if I can recruit some civilians.”

Cao Xing shook his head and continued to examine the two new skill books and equipment he obtained yesterday.

[Ice Cone Skill: Consume a certain amount of spirit to condense 1~3 ice cones, dealing spirit*0.8 magic damage to enemies, with a 30% chance to cause a 1-second frozen effect, cooling time 30 seconds.]

[Aurora Blessing: Condense the power of aurora, attach it to the weapon, and during melee attack, deal extra spirit*0.8 light attribute damage to the enemy, effect lasts for 60 seconds, cooling time 120 seconds.]

These two skills, one was an attack skill for Cao Xing, the other a blessing skill for Liu Muxue.

Both were quite effective.

Especially the [Aurora Blessing] skill, once Liu Muxue’s attributes improved, it could greatly increase the output of the territory’s troops.

He continued to examine further.

[Black Iron Plate Armor (Green)]

[Quality: Fine]

[Armor: 13~15]

[Attached Effect①: Constitution +5]

[Attached Effect②: Basic Shock Absorption (During attack, reduces knockback effect caused by 20 points of opponent’s power)]

…

“Not bad, the attributes of this plate armor are quite strong, it suits Muxue very well!”

As an Aurora Knight, resisting monsters was naturally the most important task.

With that ‘Basic Shock Absorption’ effect, Liu Muxue could handle stronger monsters without getting knocked back.

Then, there was the last scroll.

[Soldier’s Standard Longsword Scroll (Green): After learning, it can be used to consume materials to craft weapons in the Blacksmith Shop.]

[Required for Crafting: Blacksmith Shop Level 1, Iron*20, Wood*2…]

Cao Xing thought, “With the scroll, I can mass-produce weapons and then create an armed brigade of my own.”

“However, the brigade requires a large number of soldiers, and I’ll need to build barracks and train them using training scrolls.”

“And at the moment, I only have 8 Polar People, who need to work, and can’t be trained into combat units.”

“So, this matter must be put aside for now.”

After examining these, Cao Xing felt a bit bored.

By noon,

Cao Xing noticed a figure appearing in the distant snow field, heading towards his camp.

It was Assam riding the Frost Wolf.

What surprised Cao Xing was that behind him followed three slender human figures, seemingly women.

Cao Xing approached immediately.

“Assam, who are these people?”

Assam leaped off the Frost Wolf’s back, then respectfully said, “Lord, these individuals are refugees who fled from Ice Peak City.”

“Ice Peak City?”

Assam nodded, “Yes, Lord, it’s a town thousands of kilometers from us, but it’s been overrun by the Alien Ghost Army.”

“These individuals managed to escape from Ice Peak City, yet were later beset by Snowland Hunters. I saved them, but now they are homeless,”

Cao Xing thought, realizing they were natives of this world.

Yes, besides them, the Blue Star humans, this world had quite a few native races too.

Apart from the Polar People who lived underground for years, there were humans living on the surface, the Asura tribe who revered machinery and gunpowder, the Ice Plain Giant tribe who esteemed war and strength, and others…

Assam, seemingly moved with compassion, suggested, “Lord, our territory needs more manpower.”

“These three refugees can help us better construct the territory.”

Beside them, the three female humans looked expectantly.

They seemed to know that Cao Xing was the decision-maker of this territory.

So, the three refugees knelt down, respectfully, “Lord, please take in us, the homeless.”

“We are willing to offer you everything.”

Cao Xing was taken aback, his expression partly strange.

Even Liu Muxue beside him looked at Cao Xing expectantly, seemingly hoping he would take in these three refugees.

Assam was right, he indeed needed more manpower.

So, Cao Xing asked, “Can you cook?”

The three refugees exchanged glances, then quickly nodded, “We can! We can!”

Cao Xing nodded, “Alright, the task of cooking will be yours from now on.”

“In your spare time, you still need to help collect resources and build the territory with other Polar People. Are there any issues?”

“No, honorable Lord.”

Cao Xing: “Very well, then welcome to your new home.”

Cao Xing initiated the recruitment.

[Recruitment Successful: Jasmine, Tulip, Sapphire, joined your territory, territory population +3.]
