Chapter 148: Evolution to S-Level! New Skill—God’s Pull-Up

Even after the game ended, Chen Yan’s name was still everywhere. Dropping 63 points in three quarters wasn’t just a performance—it was an event.

Fans who couldn’t watch live caught up through highlights, news, and forums. In China, TV replays and sports segments replayed his every move.

Chen Yan, however, wasn’t paying much attention to the noise. His focus was on the system. Tonight’s explosion had earned him 13 honor points, thanks to both his scoring and a few... unconventional ”side quests,” like humiliating Pierce.

Combined with the 17 points he’d saved up before his suspension, Chen Yan now had 30 in the bank. At first, he wanted to hoard them for an epic skill. But with Christmas Day against the Lakers looming, he couldn’t resist. He wanted to get stronger—now.

Reclining in his airplane seat, he opened the panel and started adding points.

Twenty points went straight into his mid-range jumper, raising it by two levels. He’d learned quickly that when defenses tightened up, the mid-range was often the dagger.

The last ten points? He spread them between rebounds and blocks. Not glamorous, but both were his weakest categories, and the cost-effectiveness was too good to ignore.

As soon as he finished, the system chimed in his ear.

Ding! Congratulations to the host. Comprehensive score upgraded to S. You have unlocked skill evolution!

Chen Yan nearly jumped out of his seat. An S rating! He didn’t even hesitate—he clicked the plus sign beside his favorite move, [Unsolvable Pull-Up].

Three seconds later, the skill transformed.

God’s Pull-Up: Dribble pull-up accuracy +8%. Top-of-the-arc pull-up accuracy +14%. 20% chance to completely ignore defensive interference. In the final 35 seconds of a game, defensive impact on mid-range and three-point pull-ups is reduced by 35%.

Chen Yan whistled low. ”Oh... my... God.”

The excitement jolted Raja awake in the seat next to him. ”Bro, what the hell? You scare me in my sleep!”

But Chen Yan couldn’t stop grinning. This wasn’t just an upgrade. This was a weapon. God’s Pull-Up didn’t just make his shot sharper—it made it unfair.

And the system wasn’t finished.

As an S-level player, host gains a small permanent boost to physical attributes.

He opened his profile immediately.

Chen Yan blinked. His speed, leaping, and even mental toughness had ticked upward. He could feel the difference, even in the things the numbers didn’t show—coordination, explosiveness, balance.

”Damn...” He rubbed his head, half in awe, half in disbelief. ”This isn’t training a player... this system’s building a monster.”

And S was only the start. Beyond it were SS and even SSS. Just imagining it made his blood boil.

The next day, the Suns had a rare rest. Everyone knew what was coming: the Christmas Day showdown.

In the NBA, Christmas games were tradition. The league always scheduled marquee matchups, and Commissioner David Stern loved to milk the spectacle.

This year, fans had two blockbusters.

Miami Heat vs. Cleveland Cavaliers—Wade vs. LeBron.

Phoenix Suns vs. Los Angeles Lakers—Chen Yan vs. Kobe.

It wasn’t just two games. It was a holiday gift for basketball fans around the world.

And for Chen Yan, it was the perfect stage to unleash his brand-new God’s Pull-Up.
