Chapter 399: The Brilliant Flash of a Nuclear Explosion

”Hidden Mist Village.”

Amamiya Kenichi looked at the village ahead.

Hidden Mist Village had already entered his field of vision, but the airships flying through the sky above it were indeed a problem.

He sighed.

When he first introduced airships to the Ninja World, he had known it was only a matter of time before the cheats of this world copied them. He just had not expected the technology to be exposed and reproduced this quickly.

”What do we do now?” Minato asked in a low voice.

With the help of the airships, they had arrived at the Land of Water at high speed. Orochimaru had already taken the other airships toward other regions of the Land of Water.

The Land of Water’s territory was not especially large, but it was incredibly troublesome to manage. Amamiya Kenichi had entrusted the task of suppressing those areas to his teacher, while he led Minato and the other elite Jonin in a direct raid on Hidden Mist Village.

”...Let me think.”

Amamiya Kenichi rubbed his brow.

Was Hidden Mist Village large?

Compared to Konoha, it was certainly smaller.

But it was definitely not small.

There were many ninja inside, along with a troublesome defensive barrier. Trying to break through such a Ninja Village with the forces he had on hand would be difficult.

Although his elite ninja had all awakened the Mangekyo Sharingan, awakening the Mangekyo did not mean they could use Susanoo. Susanoo required an extremely high degree of control over the Mangekyo Sharingan.

And...

[Current Research Subject: Nuclear Fusion: Magnetic Confinement Technology]

[Research Progress: 3.21%]

Amamiya Kenichi had already begun researching nuclear fusion, but nuclear fusion was not a simple research project. Even with his cheat-like abilities, he could not directly obtain nuclear fusion technology.

He had tried to research nuclear fusion directly, but there had been no reaction.

So he could only settle for the next best thing and choose several important research concepts related to nuclear fusion, such as magnetic confinement technology.

”Should I use it?”

Amamiya Kenichi looked at Hidden Mist Village ahead.

The village still had not detected their arrival.

The only thing Amamiya Kenichi was hesitating over was whether to use an atomic bomb and let Hidden Mist Village experience the power of nuclear peace.

But using it now felt like an enormous waste.

After all, Mei Terumī of Hidden Mist Village was still leading her team in a chaotic battle with the ninja of Takigakure and the other four Great Ninja Villages. The only named high-level combatant still left in Hidden Mist Village was the Mizukage, Yagura.

Aside from him, the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist were also famous, but some had defected, some had fled, and a few remained in Hidden Mist Village without much influence.

But when he thought of the purpose of this operation, Amamiya Kenichi made up his mind.

He had to suppress all of Hidden Mist Village as quickly as possible.

He had to crush Hidden Mist Village’s will to resist him.

Only then could Hidden Mist Village fall into his hands at the fastest speed.

As for the pollution left behind after the atomic bomb exploded...

Hidden Mist Village would simply have to relocate as a whole.

For now, he had no especially good solution for nuclear pollution.

”Let’s go. Get on the airship.” Amamiya Kenichi rubbed his nose, then turned and boarded the airship.

Minato gave him a strange look.

Hidden Mist Village’s airships were still flying in the sky. If they boarded an airship now, wouldn’t they be directly exposed?

However, Minato did not ask further and followed Amamiya Kenichi onto the airship.

The next moment, the airship flew directly out of the misty forest and suddenly shot into the sky.

That scene immediately attracted Hidden Mist Village’s attention.

”Are there any scheduled airship takeoffs?”

The Hidden Mist defense team quickly began confirming the situation.

With the spread of airship technology, every Ninja Village had made new arrangements for this convenient form of transportation. They controlled takeoffs and landings, assigned identification numbers to airships, and devised ways to mark their own Village’s aircraft.

Therefore, the defense team of Hidden Mist Village quickly realized that the airship flying outside was not one of their own.

The alarm was sounded at once.

Several small airships quickly rose into the air and flew toward the unknown vessel.

”Minato-nii, I’ll leave those approaching airships to you.”

Amamiya Kenichi piloted the airship over Hidden Mist Village and brought it steadily to a hover in the air.

Around them, the shadows of other airships slowly appeared.

There were even shouts questioning their identity.

”No problem.”

Minato glanced at the nearby airships.

During this period, he had gained some understanding of these unfamiliar flying vessels. They were indeed peculiar, but destroying them was not too much of a problem.

”Then let me see it.”

Amamiya Kenichi looked down at Hidden Mist Village.

The village’s defensive barrier had already been deployed, and a feverish smile appeared on his face.

”Let me see whether you have any protection against Little Fatty.”

After all, what he held at this moment was definitely a crystallization of the technological civilization from his previous life.

A top-tier weapon, one that stood among the very best even in that world.

What kind of sparks would be created when it collided with the Ninja World?

Amamiya Kenichi did not know.

But now, he was about to find out.

”Lord Genji! An unidentified airship has appeared above the village! According to the intelligence team’s judgment, it is highly likely to be the Heavenly Demon’s airship!”

A Hidden Mist ninja rushed into the Mizukage Building, his voice hurried and anxious.

Genji coughed several times, then frowned and looked to the side.

There sat a baby-faced individual with a somewhat pale complexion.

It was none other than Hidden Mist Village’s Fourth Mizukage, Yagura.

”The Heavenly Demon? Ao’s death before seemed to be somewhat related to the Heavenly Demon... right.”

Yagura’s expression was poor.

He had once been controlled by a mysterious person and turned into that person’s puppet. Under that control, he had issued a series of bloody policies and caused the deaths of many of his own people.

That left Yagura filled with guilt.

He had even thought of abdicating from the position of Mizukage.

But there was no choice. The village had yet to find a more suitable Three-Tails Jinchuriki, so he could only drag his damaged body onward and offer the last of his strength to the village.

”Has the village’s defensive barrier been deployed? I heard the Heavenly Demon excels at launching attacks from the air.” Genji gripped his snake-shaped cane, coughed twice, then asked.

”It has been deployed, Lord Genji,” the ninja replied respectfully.

Although Genji was not the Mizukage, his status and authority were nearly equivalent to one. Furthermore, the Fourth Mizukage, Yagura, was in poor health and had not managed village affairs for some time.

”Be extra cautious. Tell the Barrier Squad and the Sealing Squad to remain on the highest alert. The village’s defenses are weak right now, and the Heavenly Demon’s visit is certainly not well intentioned,” Genji said with a sigh.

A portion of the village’s combat power had been taken by Mei Terumī to the Land of Waterfalls.

Even he had no way around that.

After all, the effect of the Hero’s Water was truly astonishing. Although it was not permanent, it was still an extremely important strategic material.

Therefore, Genji could not ignore the Hero’s Water.

Fortunately, he had already instructed Mei Terumī that Hidden Mist Village’s goal was to destroy the tree that produced the Hero’s Water as much as possible.

Genji saw the situation very clearly.

Hidden Mist Village was currently one of the weaker Great Ninja Villages. Trying to compete with Kumogakure and Konoha for the Hero’s Water was too difficult. It would be better to destroy the tree directly.

If Hidden Mist Village could not have it, no one else should either.

But he had not expected the Heavenly Demon to appear now.

”Cough, cough, cough... I heard the Heavenly Demon has developed some... long-range attack methods. We must guard against those as well... No, I’ll go myself.”

Yagura coughed as he stood up.

Although the genjutsu placed on his mind had been broken, his loss of control had caused disasters. In order to subdue him while he was rampaging, Hidden Mist Village’s ninja had been unable to hold back.

That was why Yagura’s physical condition had become so poor.

However, as the Three-Tails Jinchuriki, his defensive abilities were still outstanding. Against the Heavenly Demon’s strange attack methods, he should still be able to perform well.

”Then I’ll leave it to you, Fourth Mizukage. If the situation becomes critical, Hidden Mist Village’s fate will depend entirely on you.”

Genji nodded.

He truly had no better solution.

Hidden Mist Village’s strength was now...

Some of the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist had defected. Others had gone missing. The previous Bloody Mist policy had even led to the Kubikiribōchō falling into Zabuza Momochi’s hands, and he had also defected.

It could be said that Hidden Mist Village was extremely weak at this moment.

The Bloody Mist policy had sacrificed many ninja. Some ninja clans had risen in rebellion against the Fourth Mizukage, but all of them had been forcibly suppressed and eliminated.

The continuous internal strife had left the entire village weak and exhausted.

Hidden Mist Village was truly too frail now.

And with Mei Terumī absent, it was adding frost to snow.

”Something seems to be falling?”

When Yagura reached the outskirts of Hidden Mist Village, he noticed something rapidly descending from the sky.

”Mizukage-sama, according to the intelligence, that should be one of the Heavenly Demon’s special attack ninja tools,” the Hidden Mist Anbu whispered.

Hidden Mist Village did not have much intelligence on the Heavenly Demon, but they did possess some basic information.

At that moment, the ninja of Hidden Mist Village were doing everything they could to construct defensive Ninjutsu in case the Heavenly Demon’s attack broke through the defensive barrier.

Although they believed the possibility was not very high, they still had to be cautious and prepare for every possibility.

Yagura tentatively used Water Release to try to destroy the falling weapon.

However, it was moving too quickly. Worse, it changed direction with surprising flexibility, dodging Yagura’s Water Release.

Then, in Yagura’s eyes, that strange, large, round object suddenly bulged along its outer shell.

The next instant, a powerful sense of crisis surged through his heart.

Yagura’s heartbeat accelerated.

His breathing became rapid.

A feeling that seemed to hover between life and death made his entire body tense.

What is this?

Why do I feel...

Yagura’s sharp sixth sense as a ninja was screaming warnings at him.

And Yagura trusted that instinct.

”Three-Tails! I’m counting on you now!” Yagura said seriously.

His relationship with the Three-Tails was good.

The incident in which he had been controlled by a mysterious person using ocular Ninjutsu had instead brought the Three-Tails and Yagura closer together.

”Alright.”

Isobu did not say much, but it was still willing to help this human it got along with rather well.

Yagura also began to unleash the strongest Ninjutsu he had mastered.

But before Isobu could fully manifest, the strange object above became increasingly ominous.

And Yagura saw a ninja sitting on it, holding that strange object, suddenly vanish into thin air.

The detonation sequence was activated at the same instant.

The explosive force compressed the core inward, forcing the fissile material to reach its critical state. Neutrons collided with the uranium-235, triggering the fission reaction.

Everything happened at an unimaginable speed.

In less than the blink of an eye, nuclear fission produced terrifying energy.

In an instant, above Hidden Mist Village, a blinding light erupted. 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ

Powerful heat radiated outward from the center.

The violent shockwave instantly destroyed Hidden Mist Village’s defensive barrier.

And at that exact moment, the Three-Tails successfully manifested inside Hidden Mist Village.

However, what greeted Isobu was a terrifying heat comparable to tens of millions of degrees and intense nuclear radiation.

The violent explosion prevented the ninja below the center from even screaming. They were instantly vaporized where they stood.

The extreme heat rapidly devoured the surrounding air, making survival difficult even for those hidden in underground shelters.

”Roar!”

The Three-Tails, Isobu, let out a mournful cry.

Even a Tailed Beast with defenses as strong as its own suffered an enormous blow in the face of a nuclear explosion.

The blast and shockwave directly tore away part of the shell on its back, while its body was constantly being annihilated within the explosion.

What pained the Three-Tails most was that the explosion seemed to contain some strange energy, an energy that ravaged its body and made it suffer immensely.

The unbearable agony even made Isobu feel as if it was about to be reborn.

Tailed Beasts did not truly die. After death, they would reappear in the Ninja World after a period of time.

But that period was very long.

The Three-Tails would need around nine to ten years to revive.

Yet the terrible pain tearing through its body made it feel as if its revival might take even longer.

The shockwave generated by the nuclear explosion continued to spread at terrifying speed, destroying countless defensive Ninjutsu and civilian homes.

Even the Mizukage Building, heavily protected by the Sealing Squad and Barrier Squad, could not withstand such a violent explosion.

”What is this...”

Genji looked at the scene before him in terror.

But before he could finish speaking, his body and the bodies of the ninja protecting him vanished in the high heat, leaving behind only humanoid black shadows on the shattered walls.

A mushroom cloud rose into the sky.

The already fragile civilian homes of Hidden Mist Village were directly flattened by the explosion.

Countless lives vanished in an instant from this once-lively village.

The shockwave continued to sweep outward, destroying countless trees.

On this day, the entire Hidden Mist Village was razed to the ground.
