Chapter 380: How to Build an Atom Bomb at Home?

How does one make a nuclear weapon?

This was a very interesting question.

In theory, if someone possessed enough basic knowledge of physics and a broad understanding of modern science, the concept itself was not impossible to understand. After all, certain general principles behind nuclear weapons were no longer absolute secrets. In his previous life, even ordinary people could find simplified discussions of such things if they looked hard enough.

But understanding a concept and actually building the thing were two completely different matters.

That was precisely why nuclear weapons had become an insurmountable chasm for countless countries.

The true difficulty did not lie in knowing that a nuclear weapon existed, nor in understanding its general principle. The true difficulty lay in raw materials, refinement, precision engineering, safety, stability, transport, and countless other problems that could make a country bleed money before it even reached the starting line.

”I wonder if this uranium detection and refinement device can really separate usable material from uranium ore,” Amamiya Kenichi muttered.

He was shirtless, focused entirely on assembling the enormous device in front of him.

Although he had the blueprints, the process was still difficult. Every step required sufficient caution and precision. Fortunately, this was only the assembly stage. It had not yet reached the dangerous refinement stage. Otherwise, Kenichi would only have let his Shadow Clone handle it.

Nuclear radiation was no joke.

To make a nuclear weapon, enough suitable nuclear material was required. Uranium was one of the most suitable options, but ordinary uranium ore could not be used directly. It had to be refined and processed until it reached an extremely demanding standard.

That process alone was enough to crush ordinary people.

For an ordinary person, the financial cost of making a nuclear weapon was already terrifying. Even for the richest person in the world, the amount of money needed to refine enough usable nuclear material would be staggering.

However, possessing the material was still not enough.

With the material, one still needed enough knowledge, enough precision, enough equipment, and enough control over every stage of the weapon’s construction.

”Assuming this device can complete the refinement, then what I need next is to solve the detonation structure and stability issues. During this process, radiation exposure can be ignored for Shadow Clones, since they are not living bodies,” Kenichi thought while continuing to assemble the machine.

He recalled some of the nuclear physics knowledge he had once read.

There were different design approaches for atomic weapons. Some were relatively simple in concept, while others were far more difficult but more efficient. The difficulty, stability, and utilization efficiency of different designs varied greatly.

Kenichi was familiar with the names of the two most famous atomic bombs from his previous life, Little Boy and Fat Man.

From a pure combat effectiveness perspective, the latter was naturally stronger.

However, that did not mean it was easy to reproduce.

The more efficient the design, the higher the manufacturing difficulty. How to preserve the materials, how to refine them, how to ensure stability during transport, and how to make sure the weapon would not fail at the critical moment were all extremely troublesome problems.

”Fortunately, the Ninja World has sealing scrolls. That makes storage and transport much more convenient. I can even use Summoning Jutsu to summon the weapon directly, so transportation isn’t the main difficulty,” Kenichi muttered.

The true difficulty was still production.

”Choosing which technical route to take is somewhat troublesome. If I consider ease of manufacturing, then the simpler structure is naturally more convenient. But if I consider power and efficiency, I still prefer the more complicated one.”

Kenichi wiped the sweat from his forehead and continued tightening screws with a wrench.

Soon, the huge uranium detection and refinement device was finally completed.

After finishing it, Kenichi realized that this device was actually composed of two main parts.

One was a detection device similar to a mine detector. According to the blueprint, it was used to search for uranium ore in the wild.

The other was the refinement device, used to process uranium ore into usable material. Because of that, it was extremely large, directly occupying an entire courtyard.

Kenichi licked his lips.

”If this thing can refine usable material, then the raw material problem for the atomic bomb will be considered solved. Next, I just need to find enough uranium ore and complete the refinement process...”

Kenichi rubbed his hands together excitedly.

He was very interested in nuclear weapons.

After all, in his previous life, this thing had been one of the supreme crystallizations of human technology, an absolutely forbidden weapon. If one day an atomic explosion were truly seen, then it probably would not be long before human civilization restarted.

”This will save me a great deal of time. If I couldn’t refine the material, I would have to figure out the separation process myself.”

Kenichi twisted his neck.

Refining usable nuclear material was not a simple matter. The fact that this device could handle that process saved Kenichi an enormous amount of trouble. Otherwise, he had no idea how long it would take him to refine enough usable material on his own.

However, the current problem was finding uranium ore.

He hoped there was some in the Land of Snow. Otherwise, Kenichi would have to search elsewhere.

Thinking of this, Kenichi picked up the detection device and went out. First, he needed to find the location of uranium ore before he could use it for refinement.

Whether it was good luck or bad luck, Kenichi searched almost the entire Land of Snow with the detection device before finally receiving a reaction from a mountain in the northernmost region of the country.

”This location...”

Kenichi looked down at the permafrost beneath his feet, and his head started to ache.

According to the detector, the uranium ore was beneath the land he was standing on. The problem was that this was a high mountain, and he did not know how deeply the ore was buried. Moreover, the entire area was permafrost, making mining extremely difficult.

Fortunately, such problems were not especially difficult for a ninja.

He could even use this opportunity to train his stamina, which was a prerequisite for cultivating the Eight Inner Gates Formation. Although the Eight Inner Gates Formation was powerful, it was built on countless hours of brutal training.

If someone simply obtained it and trained casually, hoping to kick out a Night Guy like Might Guy, that would be impossible.

They would not even be able to get started.

Kenichi wore heavy weights every day precisely to temper his body.

After digging for most of the day, Kenichi finally unearthed some strangely colored ore.

”Yellowish in color. Yes, this should be it.”

Kenichi looked at the ore in his hand, unable to hide the excitement in his eyes.

This was uranium ore.

With uranium ore, Kenichi had finally opened the door to nuclear weapons.

If the Ninja World were already at peace, he could use nuclear reactors to promote electricity and advance civilization. But right now, Kenichi could only turn this science, which had the potential to benefit the world, into a weapon.

Kenichi narrowed his eyes.

With the transformation of the Land of Snow’s Jonin complete, he now needed to begin preparing for the attack on Kirigakure. However, attacking a Great Nation and a Great Ninja Village was naturally not that simple.

Kenichi needed to increase the number of trump cards in his hand.

The more, the better.

”It seems the Land of Water has very good luck.”

Kenichi continued excavating the uranium ore in front of him.

If anyone was to blame, it could only be the Land of Water for being too suitable as a first target. After all, that country was isolated overseas. Even though Kenichi now had airships, the Land of Water was still his first choice for beginning the unification of the entire Ninja World.

He hoped the production of the atomic weapon would proceed smoothly.

If it did, perhaps he could invite the Mizukage to witness the Ninja World’s first mushroom cloud, making a grand gesture like a domineering CEO setting off an atomic bomb as fireworks.

At Konoha Hospital, Jiraiya lay on a sickbed, munching on an apple as he curiously looked at Tsunade, who seemed somewhat distracted beside him.

”Tsunade, what did the old man say?”

Tsunade was not the type to space out casually. Since she was distracted, it proved she knew something.

And in Konoha, information that could cause such a large emotional fluctuation in Tsunade usually came from the old man.

”Nothing. I was just thinking that this world is truly strange.” Tsunade shook her head.

She was much clearer now, but whenever she thought about that matter, her thoughts always drifted elsewhere.

Since that brat Anko Mitarashi could travel through time and return to the past, then surely it would not be impossible for her, Tsunade, one of Konoha’s Legendary Sannin, to travel back in time and save her lover and younger brother, right?

Jiraiya’s expression turned strange.

”Did you discover aliens?” Jiraiya asked curiously.

There had always been legends of aliens in the Ninja World. The simplest legend was that people supposedly lived on the moon.

Jiraiya had even read a novel about aliens coming to the Ninja World and having affairs with various women.

It was very interesting.

Tsunade glanced around.

”Do you know why Orochimaru came to Konoha to take Anko Mitarashi this time?” Tsunade asked.

Jiraiya shook his head.

He only knew that Anko Mitarashi was Orochimaru’s disciple. As for anything beyond that, he knew nothing.

”I’ve seen a top-secret intelligence report, but you can know it too.” Tsunade spoke.

Jiraiya frowned, instinctively not wanting to listen.

Any top-secret intelligence sounded troublesome.

But he endured it, because he was genuinely curious.

”Previously, the Fourth Hokage, Minato Namikaze, carried out a top-secret mission. At that time, the Fourth Hokage sealed a Dragon Vein containing immense chakra energy. But before that, some problems occurred. For some reason, Anko Mitarashi traveled back in time through the Dragon Vein and met the Fourth Hokage, Minato Namikaze,” Tsunade said excitedly.

Jiraiya blinked.

Anko Mitarashi. Time travel. Dragon Vein.

When those things were combined, there were simply too many elements.

”And then?” Jiraiya could not help asking.

He was also somewhat curious.

Going back to the past, what kind of feat was that?

Could a normal person do it? Absolutely not.

Even the Great Toad Sage could only foresee the future, not go back to the past and change the world. Even the Sage of Six Paths probably could not reach that level.

”And then...”
