Chapter 130: Takumi, I Bought a Really Sexy Swimsuit

Even if this was the ninja world, it was not that different from his previous life. The biggest difference was that ninjas existed here, and some of them possessed absurd individual combat power.

But one thing stayed the same in any world.

Between nations, only interests could truly be discussed.

With enough benefit on the table, Konoha could make peace with Sunagakure. And if a village judged that fighting would not only be unprofitable, but outright harmful, then even Iwagakure would not bare its fangs easily.

The Iwagakure of the past had never been gentle. If anything, it had been radical.

For example, they once gambled the village’s fate by taking out the Third Raikage of Kumogakure. They lost that bet, and they nearly lost everything with it.

So now, Onoki was much more obedient. He wanted benefits, not disasters. This war had only started because he believed Konoha could be pressured.

The only regret was that Kumogakure ended the war too quickly.

If Kumogakure had not stopped, Iwagakure could have joined in, applied direct pressure, and forced the Leaf Village to concede interests without needing any outside help at all.

But now that the war had already ended, this was the only path left.

Spend money to hire the Heavenly Demon to act, put pressure on Konoha, push negotiations to begin as soon as possible, then harvest enough profit at the table. If that worked, then every ryo spent would be worth it.

Once the interests were agreed upon, the atmosphere between Kenichi and Onoki relaxed. It even became downright harmonious.

”Lord Tsuchikage, please look forward to good news,” Kenichi said with a smile. He extended his hand, intending to shake, both to celebrate the cooperation and to see if he could collect a little something, a skin fragment, a bit of blood, anything.

”Haha. This old man’s health is not what it used to be,” Onoki laughed, waving him off. ”I will not be shaking hands with you young people.”

Kenichi smiled back, but inside, his thoughts were different.

No wonder this old fox had survived through the war years.

Putting aside the fact that Onoki was strong, and that Dust Release was said to possess absolute destructive power, his age and experience alone were enough to keep him from falling into most traps.

He had probably seen countless strange techniques and bloodlines in his lifetime. Of course he would be wary of Kenichi and Sasori.

If a handshake would not work, then he would have to think of another method.

It was a pity Onoki was not a woman, otherwise Kenichi could have rummaged through the trash cans.

Cough. No. Even if Onoki were a woman, at that age, the chance of that kind of convenient ”material” was lower than hoping Onoki developed hemorrhoids.

”...Hm?”

Kenichi suddenly froze as he realized what he had just thought.

Yes. Hemorrhoids.

If Onoki had hemorrhoids, would that not actually be possible?

The thought was... perverse.

But disgusting or not, the science itself was sound. DNA could be extracted even from fossils. And yes, there were shed cells in the intestines. DNA could be taken from those.

The problem was accuracy. It contained a huge amount of bacteria and microorganisms. Those could interfere with DNA testing badly.

If the person was bleeding from the anus, or had hemorrhoids, then the probability of extracting usable DNA rose sharply, but the process became even more troublesome. Most people simply would not be that insane.

It did not even contain much meaningful information. It was full of noise and distractions. A terrible trade.

And with Kenichi’s strength, if he really wanted to, he could pluck a hair off Onoki and vanish immediately.

More importantly, he had other options. He did not need to touch that final, cursed resort.

The cleanest solution was Deidara.

As Onoki’s disciple, if Kenichi could take Deidara out for a ”trip” and have him help collect Onoki’s hair, it should not be difficult.

The only question was how to get close to Deidara.

Kenichi’s opportunity arrived quickly.

Once their business was finished, Onoki released Deidara.

”Hey! Are you the Heavenly Demon?!” Deidara blurted out, staring at Kenichi with shining eyes, practically vibrating with excitement.

Kenichi’s reaction was not surprising. Deidara was an obsessive artist too, just with a different creed. He believed art was the art of a single instant, and that an explosion was the moment art reached its peak.

From that perspective, admiration made perfect sense.

”Yes,” Kenichi replied with a smile. ”You must be Deidara.”

Sasori stood off to the side, resting his chin on his hand, looking bored. This was the first time he had seen Kenichi so enthusiastic toward a stranger.

So what was special about this kid?

Sasori did not know.

”Yes! I’m Deidara, and I really want to...” Deidara tried to move closer, but Onoki stepped in and blocked him without hesitation.

Onoki had agreed to let his good for nothing disciple meet Heavenly Demon.

That did not mean he was willing to let Deidara get friendly with him.

This man did not look like a good person. And Deidara had enormous potential. The only issue was his temperament.

Onoki’s mindset had shifted. Deidara was now the future Fourth Tsuchikage he had the highest hopes for.

Kurotsuchi was not bad, but Onoki, who had lived through war, understood one truth better than most.

In the ninja world, strength was the foundation of everything. Only with enough strength could someone truly become Kage.

Among his disciples, Deidara was the strongest. If his special Explosion Release talent was developed properly, he would become terrifying.

Kenichi felt a flicker of disappointment. He had been hoping Onoki might allow Deidara to accompany them on the mission.

But Onoki clearly had no such intention.

With Onoki smiling protectively in front of his student, Kenichi and Sasori had no choice but to leave.

Onoki watched them until their figures disappeared into the mountains. Only then did he turn and lead Deidara back.

”Teacher! Why won’t you let me talk to Brother Heavenly Demon a little more?!” Deidara snapped, glaring up at him.

”Did I not already let you meet your idol?” Onoki replied with a smile, the affection in his tone obvious. ”Now you can focus on your studies, yes? Deidara, your grades are truly awful.”

Deidara was fuming, but then his eyes suddenly lit up, as if a plan had clicked into place.

”Teacher,” Deidara said, smiling with an innocence that did not match his usual expression, ”I developed a really powerful ninjutsu!”

”Oh?” Onoki’s body stiffened.

Deidara had never smiled like that before.

And for some reason, Onoki felt a strange, uncomfortable chill crawl up his spine.
