Chapter 121: It Is Dangerous to Casually Attempt to Invent Ninjutsu

”Hah!”

With a loud crash, Kenichi stared at the cracked ground and wiped the sweat from his brow.

Tsunade’s monstrous strength was no joke. How many people could take a punch with that kind of power and still breathe afterward? Kenichi had no interest in finding out firsthand.

Even so, his mind drifted for the briefest moment.

Jiraiya seemed to have feelings for Tsunade, yet the two never ended up together. The lecherous Sage left no descendants. Honestly, it was a bit of a shame.

”Kid, you dare get distracted while fighting me?” Tsunade snapped, her voice full of fury.

Kenichi could only sigh.

He did not want to be distracted. But this was Tsunade. With that light swaying around, it was hard not to lose focus. Besides, she was his elder, and their relationship was good. Surely he was not going to try to kill her for real.

Then a thought struck him, sharp enough to cut through the chaos.

The biggest trait of Sage Mode was that it could draw on Sage Chakra made from natural energy. Sage Chakra could be used for powerful Sage Ninjutsu.

Sage Chakra itself was a blend of natural energy, physical energy, and spiritual energy.

So what would happen if he mixed two other chakra attributes into Sage Chakra?

What kind of effect would that create?

Kenichi decided to try it.

Taking advantage of the momentum from Tsunade’s Kick, he retreated deeper into the forest. At the same time, he began forcing his lightning chakra and fire chakra into Sage Chakra, mixing them together.

It was far harder than he imagined.

The moment the fusion began, a tearing pain ripped through his chest and abdomen, like something gnawing into him from the inside.

The pain was unbearable. Kenichi had no time to think. He immediately tried to summon and stabilize that chaotic chakra.

Before he could release it, an overpowering urge to vomit hit him.

He threw up.

Tsunade, who had just rushed after him, froze when she saw Kenichi open his mouth and spew out a fireball.

Tsunade sneered and answered instantly.

A water dragon surged forward, charging straight at the fireball.

The moment they touched, the water dragon was vaporized.

At the same time, the fireball deepened in color, becoming heavier, darker, more oppressive.

”A fire jutsu with this kind of power?” Tsunade’s eyes narrowed in surprise.

Judging by its size, it should not have been that strong. Her Water Dragon Bullet should have handled it easily.

Instead, it was erased on contact.

Seeing the attack still coming, Tsunade dodged.

The fireball slammed into the ground.

A blast of scorching air exploded outward from the impact point.

Centered there, red flames mixed with deep black lightning spread in a wave. Tsunade was caught off guard and struck in the back by the heat.

A tingling numbness swept through her entire body.

She shuddered, then the hot wind hurled her into a tree.

She smashed through three trees before finally stopping.

”This thing... hiss.” Kenichi tried to speak, but he immediately spat out a mouthful of blood.

He pressed a hand to his chest. The tearing sensation still clawed at him, leaving his whole body trembling with discomfort.

Still, when he looked at the aftermath, he had to admit it.

The move was powerful.

But the damage to the body was too severe. It was almost self destructive, making it feel counterproductive.

Even the blast pattern was strange.

Within a fifty meter radius around the impact point, the ground had been completely flattened. Trees were scattered everywhere, and they were dark, almost black, yet none of them showed signs of being ignited.

Kenichi guessed that was the effect of Lightning Release.

”Boy, are you... are you alright?” Tsunade hauled herself up.

She was angry, but the moment she saw Kenichi coughing blood, her face went pale. Even so, she still frowned as she asked.

”I just had a sudden idea... cough, cough.” Kenichi opened his mouth, but the metallic taste in his throat made him cough again.

”Hmph. Your ninjutsu is pretty interesting. And...” Tsunade curled her lip, about to continue.

Then she turned her head sharply, looking behind her.

She had been focused on fighting Kenichi and only now realized Orochimaru seemed to have finished his work.

”Shizune, come treat this brat!” Tsunade barked as she rushed forward, anger flaring again. ”Orochimaru, that bastard!”

Shizune jogged over immediately. A large amount of Yang attribute chakra gathered in her hands as she used the Healing Palm Technique, something she was highly proficient with.

”Thank you, Shizune nee,” Kenichi said, coughing twice.

As the Healing Palm Technique worked, his throat eased. Earlier it had hurt so badly he felt like he was going to die on the spot. Now the pain faded quickly.

Shizune waved it off, but her eyes kept drifting toward Tsunade. She had just witnessed what Orochimaru had done, and she could not stop worrying about what would happen next.

The treatment finished quickly.

Or rather, Kenichi’s sage constitution gave him a certain level of recovery on its own. With Shizune’s help, he adjusted his condition fast, stood up, and followed her.

When they returned to the previous spot, Kenichi saw Tsunade facing his teacher.

And beside Tsunade were two coffins.

”Tsunade, you’re so weak now,” Orochimaru sneered.

Then, as the Impure World Reincarnation was completed, the coffins opened.

Two people stepped out.

Dan.

Then Nawaki.

”Orochimaru! How dare you desecrate the dead!” Tsunade roared, fury burning in her eyes.

She was furious because she had heard Orochimaru say he wanted to summon Dan and Nawaki. She just had not believed she would fail to stop him, even knowing he was using a forbidden jutsu.

”What can you do?” Orochimaru replied coldly.

A swarm of snakes lunged at Tsunade. As they closed in, they detonated, and blood gushed out.

Tsunade’s fear flared, but she forced herself to move. She used Wind Release, trying to blow the blood away.

Then she saw someone she had longed for, running toward her with pure happiness.

Nawaki.

”Sister!” Nawaki called out in a childish voice.

The seemingly unbreakable Tsunade shattered in an instant.

Her Wind Release faltered, and in her panic, a little blood splattered onto her hands and across her face.

But for once, she did not care about the blood that terrified her.

She only stared, blank and trembling, as Nawaki ran up and jumped.

Almost without thinking, she reached out and hugged her little brother, just like she used to.

”Sister!” Nawaki laughed, snuggling close, rubbing his cheek against hers with innocent affection.

Tsunade tried to widen her eyes.

Tears welled up in them in the next instant.
