Chapter 406: Visiting The Northeast City ( 3 )

To endure the hot temperature, Yao Zhi had to circulate the spiritual energy inside her body continuously. Even so, when the sun rose higher, her clothes were still drenched in sweat.

Fearing that they would suffer heatstroke, she signaled to her guards to take a break. They looked for a long time before they finally found an area with some trees to shield them from the sun.

They rested for two hours until the sun slanted slightly to the west before they continued their journey. To avoid getting heatstroke, they wore bamboo hats bought from Yao Zhi’s system shop that cost 1 point each.

They traveled nonstop until sunset before they spent the night in an open area near the dried-up river. Although the temperature was high, Ling Shi’er still built a fire to illuminate the surroundings.

Sitting around the fire, Yao Zhi took out a basket of Rou Jia Mo. She took two pieces and shared the rest with her guards.

After traveling for two days and one night, they had finished a quarter of the drinking water stored inside their spatial rings. They glanced at the dried-up river with worry clear in their eyes.

The closer they were to the Northeast City, the higher the temperature. Not to mention the river, even the well located at the abandoned village no longer had any water.

If they couldn’t find any water source soon, they would use up the water given by their master sooner or later. With this thought, they decided to drink less water.

As for Yao Zhi, she had no worries at all besides feeling irritated due to the hot temperature and wanted to take a shower. She looked around and saw nothing but a half-person-tall boulder 20 meters away.

Standing up, she said, ”I need to relieve myself. Don’t follow me.”

Hearing her words, everyone nodded but couldn’t help feeling embarrassed. Although they were rough men, this was the first time they had heard a lady use such words without feeling shy.

Yao Zhi walked to the area behind the boulder.

The moment she was out of her guards’ sight, she entered the shared manor. The first thing she did was bolt to the bedroom. After she undressed and took off the silicon bodysuit, she took a quick shower.

She didn’t dare take a cold shower, no matter how hot she felt.

The cooler she felt right now, the hotter she would feel when she went outside. So, she used warm water for her shower. She also washed her hair, which was covered in dust and sweat.

When she was done, she used a hair dryer to dry her hair before she went to clean the silicone bodysuit. Only after she cleaned the bodysuit thoroughly did she put on her disguise and change into a clean set of clothes.

Almost an hour later, she returned to the group.

The moment her guards saw her clean clothes and refreshed appearance, they exchanged glances.

They didn’t know how much water their Master had brought with her. But from how generous she was when it came to using water, they could guess that the amount must be a lot.

Reaching this conclusion, their previous anxiety about water shortage lessened a lot.

Like the previous night, Yao Zhi found a place to sleep near the fire. She took out several piles of hay from the system’s storage and laid them on the ground. Then, she covered the hay with a piece of fabric before lying down to sleep.

Since she had the ability to, she wouldn’t treat herself badly. For a woman, it was not good to sleep directly on the ground since the moisture emitted from the ground could harm the body.

As the night deepened, she slowly drifted to sleep.

This situation continued for several days. Besides taking breaks during mealtimes, the group traveled nonstop.

On the 8th day, they finally arrived at the border of the Northeast City.

Sitting on her horse, Yao Zhi looked at the damaged city wall and took a sharp breath.

The traces of battle could be seen everywhere. Although her husband said that it was an easy victory, she was still able to imagine how dangerous the battle had been from the deep craters on the ground.

That was the trace left behind from the bombs or grenades.

She turned to her guards and said, ”After we enter the city, go investigate the situation in the city and nearby towns.”

”Master, if we all leave, what about you?” Ling Shi’er asked.

Hearing this, Yao Zhi smiled and replied, ”With my husband and so many soldiers in the city, nothing will happen to me.”

After she said this, she urged her horse forward and rode toward the city.

Since their Master had given the order, Ling Shi’er could only obey. They followed her closely.

The moment the soldiers guarding the city wall saw them from a distance, one of them quickly went to inform his superiors.

When Yao Zhi and her guards stopped 15 meters away from the city wall, she raised her head and saw a man in dirty armor.

Cupping her fists, she channeled her spiritual energy into her throat and said, ”Greetings, everyone. My name is Lei Feng. I came here to visit the General. Please help me inform him.”

The moment Yan Shu heard this name, surprise flashed in his eyes. Every soldier in the White Tiger Army had heard about this person’s good deeds before, but it was only today that they saw him in person.

Without even informing the General, Yan Shu ordered, ”Open the gate!”

A few minutes later, the massive city gate was pushed open, and Yan Shu walked out, followed by a group of soldiers. He wanted to check this person’s identity personally.

Seeing them coming out, Yao Zhi dismounted from her horse and took several steps forward, followed by her guards. They stopped 2 meters away from the soldiers.

Yan Shu cupped his fists and said, ”I’m Yan Shu, a Centurion under the General. Young Master, I need to check your identity first before we can let you in. Do you have anything to prove that you are Lei Feng?”
