Radiant Dragon’s Otherworldly Reincarnation

Chapter 187. We are Why…. (1)

Evergreen.

Located at the northernmost tip of the continent, this place was a sanctuary for the Elves and a forbidden territory for humanity.

In a sense, it was a place where humans could not set foot, even more so than the Great Forest.

The reason people did not enter the Great Forest was because it was dangerous.

No one was forcing them not to set foot there.

But Evergreen was different.

This was a territory that humanity had officially ceded to the Elves after a long conflict.

The agreement that no one should enter here was a part of the pact between Elves and humans.

The moment a human trespassed here, regardless of their status, they would have no grounds for complaint even if they were shot dead by Elven arrows.

In fact, there had been an incident where the prince of a kingdom had trespassed into Evergreen and was killed.

In such an Evergreen….

“Phew…. The scenery is great, the air is even better, and the alcohol tastes amazing today.”

There was a madman, trudging along while chugging from a bottle of alcohol.

Needless to say, it was Patrick.

Patrick, gulping down the alcohol from the bottle, took a deep breath and said.

“Phew…. I don’t need any side dishes. The air is delicious. So delicious.”

Seeing him, his companions around him were sending him looks as if to ask if he was even human.

Patrick was the only one leisurely enjoying the beautiful nature of Evergreen.

The others were tense, on high alert for an attack that could come at any moment.

To his companions, Patrick said.

“Relax. I told you, didn’t I? We were formally invited.”

“You crazy bastard. Does being invited mean arrows won’t pierce you?”

“Logically, if you were in my shoes, would you believe that?”

“Just die already!”

At his companions’ reactions, Patrick let out a sigh.

“Fine. It’s your loss.”

The bright sun shining down through the lush green forest and the refreshing breeze rustling by.

The untouched, natural wilderness was an excellent side dish for his alcohol in itself.

‘Tsk, it’s so nice here, yet they’re all frozen stiff instead of enjoying it.’

Patrick let out a smirk.

He was here by formal invitation anyway.

So why would he be scared?

Would arrows really fly at them here?

Kaaang!

“Uh…. They do fly.”

Patrick stared dumbfoundedly at the spark that had just appeared right in front of him.

The silently flying arrow had been struck down by April, who had stepped forward with her sword.

Judging by the sound upon impact, the force behind the arrow was also considerable.

“What the….”

As Patrick scratched his cheek in bewilderment, his companions went into an uproar.

“Damn it, I knew this would happen.”

“O residents of the forest. We are leaving now. Please, calm down.”

“Or just kill this one and let us go.”

Amidst his panicking companions, Patrick scratched his head and said.

“Hey, hold on. This is all a misunderstanding. A misunderstanding.”

“What do you mean, a misunderstanding?”

“We haven’t even determined if they are enemies yet, right? It could have been a stray arrow that flew by mistake….”

Kang! Kakakang!

No sooner had he spoken than a volley of arrows fell.

Although April managed to block them all.

Patrick looked at it with an embarrassed expression, then wiped his nose and said.

“This isn’t right….”

“What isn’t right? What?”

“Your very existence is not right.”

“Die. Please, just die!”

At his companions’ vehement protests, Patrick cleared his throat and stepped forward.

And he shouted loudly in the direction the arrows came from.

“I am Patrick Schneider, here by the invitation of an Elf named Elione. Elves, please cease your attack.”

As he spoke, Patrick felt a sense of pride.

‘Wow, Master, I’ve become so good, haven’t I? The ones who shot first are right in front of me, but I’m trying to resolve this through conversation.’

Whatever others might say, from Patrick’s perspective, this was a huge step forward.

‘Phew… If Master saw this, he would have been so moved he’d be crying his eyes out. This disciple has finally become a human, Master.’

No, if the master of the Twin Dragon Sect had actually seen this, his reaction would have been this:

[Are you sick somewhere?]

In any case, for the infamous Patrick Schneider, he had controlled his temper quite a bit.

And at that moment….

-What do you mean you came by Elione’s invitation? Human.

“Oh, a six-direction sound technique… is it a bit different? It’s similar, though.”

It was a technique that made the sound echo from all directions, making it impossible to pinpoint a specific location.

He didn’t know how they did it, but it was very similar to the six-direction sound technique used by the people of the Jianghu.

In any case, it seemed like a conversation was possible.

“My name is Patrick Schneider. I have come all the way to Evergreen to keep a promise I made with an Elf named Elione at Arcana.”

At Patrick’s words, a stir could be felt among the Elves.

The Elves seemed to talk amongst themselves for a moment before revealing themselves.

From the treetops, dozens of Elven warriors leaped down gracefully.

‘Ooh… look at their movements.’

Patrick was quite impressed.

Dozens of Elves had leaped down, but not even the sound of a single leaf breaking could be heard from the ground.

It was an incredibly light movement.

And while they had all covered their faces with masks when he had seen them before, now, perhaps because it was their own territory, no one was covering their faces.

They were all beautiful men and women, and just looking at them was a feast for the eyes.

At that moment….

“You are Patrick Schneider?”

An Elven warrior with a beauty that was hard to believe for a man stepped forward.

While the other Elven warriors held bows and arrows, he uniquely held a formidable-looking iron spear.

And….

‘Huh. I think I’ve seen him somewhere before.’

Patrick found the features of this first-time-seen Elven warrior strangely familiar.

And he spoke….

“My name is Kirioth.”

“Ah, hello.”

“I am the younger brother of the Elione you mentioned.”

“Aah…. So that’s why.”

The mystery was solved.

He had wondered why he looked so familiar, and now he knew the reason.

“Nice to mee….”

Just as Patrick was about to approach him to say it was nice to meet him….

Fwoooosh!

“Is it you?”

He fiercely thrust his spear, aiming it at Patrick.

And to Patrick, who had stopped in his tracks, he emanated a blatant killing intent and said.

“Are you the one who dared to take my sister’s purity?”

“…Pardon?”

What did this bastard just say?

Patrick was genuinely bewildered.

Who took what?

This was a situation that would rank in the top ten most bewildering moments of his past and present lives combined.

“Wait a minute… hold on.”

‘Calm down. Calm down.’

Patrick composed himself and began to calmly persuade the other party.

“There must be some kind of misunderstanding. Since we are all intelligent beings, let’s calmly resolve the misunderstanding through conversation.”

“There is no need for that.”

“Huh?”

“Everything will be resolved if you just die.”

“…Huh?”

“Die!”

Simultaneously, the opponent’s spear thrust at Patrick like a flash of lightning.

A clean discipline and rapid speed.

But with Patrick Schneider as the opponent, it was no use.

Patrick lightly dodged the spear and created distance, saying.

“Hey, hey… wait, let’s talk.”

“I have nothing to say to you.”

“This is definitely some kind of misunderstanding.”

“There is no misunderstanding.”

“Your sister and I, nothing happened….”

“Do not speak of my sister with your filthy mouth!”

A series of thrusts at a terrifying speed.

Seeing that, Patrick let out a sigh.

‘This is driving me crazy.’

While dodging the opponent’s attacks, Patrick shouted to his companions.

“Hey! Someone stop this guy.”

His companions would surely understand his unjust situation.

And they would also stop this unreasonable Elf.

He had expected as much, but….

“Haa…. That freaking psycho.”

“To think he caused such an incident.”

“……”

Matthew sighed in despair.

Riman looked at Patrick with a look of pity.

And his fiancée, Isabella, looked at Patrick as if he were a disgusting bug.

At that, Patrick realized.

‘Wow…. I have no one on my side. Not a single person.’

Even April had turned her head and was muttering something, and it didn’t seem like a very favorable reaction.

And the Elven warrior named Kirioth continued to thrust his spear at Patrick, shouting.

“Stop dodging and fight me! You hateful Patrick Schneider!”

“Hey, what did I even do?”

“Did you not forcibly take my sister’s purity?”

“I did not!”

“To lie until the very end!”

“Waaah…. I’m really going to lose my mind.”

Patrick looked like he was dying of frustration, but Kirioth was even more frustrated.

Because his spear couldn’t even graze the hem of Patrick’s clothes.

At that, Kirioth’s eyes sparked with fire as he said.

“Indeed, your skills are quite impressive, just as my sister said.”

“I don’t know what she said, but it’s all a misunderstanding.”

“I will be the judge of that.”

He took his stance again and said.

“I will show you my full power!”

“You know? It’s really rare for me to say this, but can’t we stop the violence and resolve this through conversation?”

“Dieeeeee!”

“Ah, this bastard really doesn’t listen.”

Patrick grumbled as he dodged the attack.

He really wanted to beat them all up out of sheer anger.

However….

‘No. I can’t.’

He had to endure for now.

The meeting with the Elves was something Patrick was paying a lot of attention to.

The power of the Elves, known as the people of the forest, was necessary for the pioneering of the Great Forest.

To seek their cooperation and build a good relationship, he had to refrain from violence as much as possible.

‘The misunderstanding can be cleared up later.’

Didn’t his master always say so?

Didn’t he say countless times that people should make a habit of solving problems through conversation rather than with a blade?

So…

‘Huh?’

Shiiiit!

It was then.

A distinct blue aura bloomed on the tip of the opponent’s fully extended spear and shot forward.

As a result, the range of the opponent’s attack, which he thought he had dodged with plenty of room, suddenly increased.

A surprise attack that caught him off guard in a completely unexpected situation.

Patrick hastily drew his sword and blocked the attack.

Kwaaang!

It was a decisive move, but Patrick managed to block even that.

“Tsk.”

Kirioth leaped back and retreated, saying.

“To think you blocked this.”

At his disappointed clicking of the tongue, the others who were watching were rather surprised.

“Aura?”

“An Elf using aura?”

“Hoooh, I’ve never seen this before.”

Matthew and Isabella were startled, and Riman also pushed up his glasses and watched the scene with interest.

In their common understanding, Elves did not use aura.

They were a race that used a power called spirit energy, which only Elves could use.

But the power that the Elf named Kirioth had just used was unmistakably aura.

It was clear that he had trained in aura, accumulated power in his Aura Hall, and then drawn it out to use.

“He seems to be around the 5-star level.”

“Interesting. Are there even among the Elves, who are slow to worldly changes, those who pursue reform?”

“Patrick also seems a bit surprised… huh?”

It was then.

Matthew saw something astonishing.

“Huh? Senior, he’s….”

“He’s bleeding.”

A very small scratch had appeared on Patrick’s forehead.

Seeing the red drop of blood slowly oozing from it, Kirioth smiled triumphantly and said.

“Hahaha. Serves you right.”

“……”

“That is the price for daring to touch my sister.”

“……”

Patrick did not answer.

He just brought his hand to his forehead, confirmed the slightly oozing blood, then stared blankly at the sky for a moment, then looked at the blood on his palm, and then looked at the sky again, repeating this.

To such a Patrick, Kirioth said.

“It’s too late for regrets. The sin of daring to touch my sister. I will let you atone for it with death.”

“…I did. …I ……ried.”

“What are you trying to say?”

“You saw that, Master, right? I really tried to be patient this time. I kept saying let’s resolve this through conversation.”

“What are you talking….”

“But you know, it seems there are just some guys in this world who don’t listen to reason. You understand, right, Master? Oh, you don’t? Well, just pretend you do.”

“Are you insane?”

“It’s okay from now on, right? …Ah, whatever. It’s not like this is the first or second time I’ve caused trouble.”

“Truly insane.”

Kirioth sighed as if he were dumbfounded and turned his gaze towards Patrick’s companions, saying.

“Human companions… huh? Where are you going?”

But what Kirioth saw was only the backs of Patrick’s companions, running away like mad.

“Run! Run! Run!”

The usually cynical Isabella stood at the head of the group, shouting fiercely like someone with an obsession.

“Wait, logically you should at least tell me why we’re running?”

“Forget it and run if you want to live, you four-eyes!”

Riman asked for a reason, but what he got back was Matthew’s fierce scolding.

And…

“We must get out of here immediately.”

Even the great April was in absolute agreement with the opinion that they had to leave this place right now.

Kirioth, who was staring blankly at the four figures running away like mad, was about to hastily order his subordinates to pursue those humans.

However….

Gooooooooo….

He couldn’t.

Because a terrifying killing intent and fighting spirit began to rise from Patrick’s body in front of him.

“Uh… uh oh….”

Kirioth stumbled back.

What was this?

Would it feel like this to be in front of a volcano on the verge of eruption?

A fierce red alert blared nonstop in his head.

And as Patrick’s shoulders shook, an ominous laughter leaked out.

“Heuk… heheheheheuk….”

“W-wait, human.”

Kirioth, who was stumbling back, raised his palm to Patrick to mediate the situation and said.

“First, let’s calm down. Calm down and talk….”

“Taaaaaaalk?”

Patrick, his neck bent 90 degrees to the side and his eyes rolled back, fixed his gaze on Kirioth.

Kirioth, who flinched at that gaze, unknowingly took a step back.

And Patrick, no, the eerie something that was once called Patrick, a demon that had risen from hell, pointed a finger at Kirioth and said.

“You.”

“……”

“Are dead meat.”
