My Apocalypse System Arrives 10 Years Early

Chapter 519: Chapter 335: Graceful Saviors Pacify the Land, a Rainbow Spans the Raging Floods

That was why they had eagerly signed up and volunteered for the rescue team this time.

Li Xiang, however, acted alone. He was fast, had the Giant Whale Saint Armor, and could fly, making him more efficient at saving people by himself.

The waters of East Lake had already risen seven or eight meters, flooding the vast Wuda campus. Luojia Mountain, originally on campus grounds, now looked like a small island, gazing across the floodwaters at Gui Mountain on the nearby Huazhong Normal University campus.

In a nearby residential building, people were trapped inside. Yao Yao paddled her small boat to the base of the building. After a quick look, she found the first-floor stairwell was completely submerged, and water had already entered the second-floor apartments.

So, she leaped up to the fourth floor. She told the people inside to back away, then grabbed the security bars with her slender hands. With a sharp cry, she gave a powerful tug. ’Damn!’ The entire security grille was ripped clean off and tossed down below.

She climbed through the window and emerged a moment later carrying an elderly woman in her eighties or nineties on her back. With another leap, she landed lightly in the small boat.

”Ma’am, please wait for me here in the boat for a moment. I’ll go get your wheelchair,” Yao Yao said.

The old woman was a bit frantic, grabbing Yao Yao’s hand, not wanting her to leave.

Yao Yao comforted her, ”It’s okay, I’ll be right back.” She pressed a piece of candy into the old woman’s hand, then leaped back up.

Soon, Yao Yao returned, bringing the old woman’s wheelchair with her.

This grandmother lived alone. She had prepared some supplies, but not a lot. After such a long period of high temperatures and heavy rain, she had run out of food. With her limited mobility, she had no choice but to wave for help from her window, which is how Yao Yao found her.

Yao Yao’s rescue was captured in its entirety by a CCTV drone. A CCTV reporter in a life vest reported live from the scene on the incredible event: ”Captain Yao Rips Off Security Bars with Bare Hands, Rescues Elderly Woman in Wheelchair, and Brings Her Safely to a Mobile Cabin Hospital!”

Meanwhile, Lei Xiaohui, using her agile skills, rescued a mother, daughter, and their pet hamster, all unharmed, from a trapped attic. The mother, holding her daughter, choked back sobs as she thanked her repeatedly. This, too, was reported by a CCTV reporter.

Besides Yao Yao and her team, countless other rescue teams were mobilized across the country. Of course, not everyone had the chance to be featured on CCTV. There were also many unsung heroes.

In a residential complex in Zheng City, firefighters formed a human bridge to evacuate a paralyzed elderly person, the murky floodwaters rising over the reflective stripes of their orange rescue suits. In Suzhou, a garden administrator paddled a wooden basin to save a national first-class ancient tree, posting on social media, ”The wisteria planted by Tang Yin himself will not die on my watch.”

In Jiang City, on a patch of high ground, a Sichuan restaurant was unaffected by the disaster. The owner and a dozen of his employees set up ten large pots at the entrance to boil ginger soup. In a short video, a metal ladle rapped against the rim of a pot: ”Free refills with a rescue worker’s ID!”

Besides the ginger soup, the owner also provided free meals, doing his small part to help.

While ”#RecordHighRainfall” and ”#InflatableBoatManufacturersStocksLimitUp” were both trending topics, one blogger compiled a ”Heavy Rain Survival Guide.” It included dozens of self-rescue methods showcasing the wisdom of the masses, from making simple flotation devices out of sealed refrigerator containers to tying yoga mats into makeshift life rafts. The guide was highly praised by netizens.

「Somewhere in a development zone, at a factory.」

The warehouse was leaking, so the owner had organized employees to salvage the goods. Unfortunately, the warehouse collapsed, trapping them inside and requiring emergency rescue.

Li Xiang happened to be nearby. In a flash, he appeared beside the warehouse.

With his 700,000-jin Giant Power, he easily moved aside the collapsed wall, forcefully clearing an escape route. The people inside were incredibly emotional after being rescued.

”It’s the Mysterious Armored Man.”

”Thank you so much.”

”Thank you for saving our lives. Great hero, would it be possible to have the honor of taking a photo with you?”

Once they were in a safe place, both the owner and the employees couldn’t help but gather around Li Xiang. A few people had suffered broken bones when the warehouse collapsed, but Li Xiang had already sent them to a nearby mobile cabin hospital. Their lives were not in danger.

”The flood is urgent. I have to go save others.” With a flicker, Li Xiang was gone, skimming across the water’s surface.

The owner and employees all whipped out their phones to film him. ’Whoa, that’s the real Lightweight Water Floating Technique!’

In reality, what was walking on water? He could travel through outer space.

Li Xiang went to Suzhou to find Luo Feifei. Her family’s villa was on higher ground and hadn’t been affected by the disaster. Luo Feifei’s mother was watching TV in the first-floor living room and naturally gave Li Xiang a warm welcome when she saw him.

”Feifei went out to help with the disaster relief,” Luo Feifei’s mother said with great pride. She was also very happy. ’After all, my daughter has finally come out of seclusion. I was so worried she was trapped by her feelings. What if she’d developed depression?’

’Even though she’s an Extraordinary Being, Extraordinary Beings can get depression too! What if it caused her to suffer a cultivation deviation? The consequences would be unimaginable.’

’Thankfully, seeing how severe the disasters were across the country, my daughter finally couldn’t sit still any longer.’

Luo Feifei had also taught her mother the Breathing Technique and shared some Spiritual Medicine with her, but her mother hadn’t made any progress in her Cultivation.

”Well, I should get back to it. I’ll come visit you again next time, ma’am.” Since Luo Feifei wasn’t there, Li Xiang didn’t want to stay long. In a flash, he was in the heavily flooded part of the city.

Watching Li Xiang leave, Luo Feifei’s mother couldn’t help but sigh again. ’If only Li Xiang weren’t married, he’d be a perfect match for my daughter. After all, he’s so handsome, and he’s the most powerful man in the world.’

...

Li Xiang posted an announcement in his fan group: if anyone needed help, they could ask for it in the group immediately.
