The Master and His Wealthy Fiancée

When Xuan Kexin saw Chen Dong grab a file, she assumed he was an admin from some department in the company. After all, she had already met everyone at the manager level and above.

But she never expected a mere admin to have such a temper. He threw a fit just from being asked to do a small task—it was completely unreasonable! She made up her mind to have a good talk with Li Huiran and tell her to overhaul the company.

Thinking this, her beautiful eyes swept over Chen Dong, a flash of disdain in them. ”If you can’t even be bothered to do a simple task like this, who do you think you are?”

Chen Dong glanced at the woman. ”Forget it. I can’t be bothered with you.” He turned and walked out of the office.

Xuan Kexin froze for a second, anger flaring in her eyes. ”Stop right there!” she said coldly. ”Who are you? What department are you from?”

Chen Dong scoffed and replied, ”Deputy Team Leader of the General Affairs Office. That’s me. I didn’t come to work to be your servant.”

Xuan Kexin thought for a moment, seemingly just then recalling what the General Affairs Office was. Having only just joined the company, she had no idea that the General Affairs Office reported directly to the Board of Directors.

Then her eyes went wide, and she snapped, ”So what if you’re from General Affairs? You people do nothing all day. Is cleaning an office too much to ask?”

Chen Dong looked utterly impatient. ”I came to work to slack off. I’m not helping you, so what are you going to do about it?”

In truth, if Xuan Kexin’s attitude had been even slightly better, if she had just asked for his help, Chen Dong would have done this small favor for her. But the woman’s attitude rubbed him the wrong way, and he wasn’t about to indulge her.

Xuan Kexin was furious now, too. Her eyes, practically radiating killing intent, fixed on Chen Dong as she asked, ”What’s your name?”

”The name’s Chen Dong! And I don’t have time to waste on you!” With that, he walked out of the office, ”politely” slamming the door shut behind him.

Xuan Kexin gritted her teeth, staring at the heavily slammed door, and muttered to herself, ”Chen Dong, is it?”

She had already made a silent vow: she would make Chen Dong pay.

She was Li Huiran’s old college roommate and a top student from the finance department. This time, Li Huiran had to go to great lengths to coax her into joining the company. The plan was for her to temporarily fill the Finance Manager position and simultaneously manage the newly established Project Team Two. Once a suitable permanent Finance Manager was found, she would become the Deputy General Manager.

Having been there for only a few days, Xuan Kexin was already swamped with a mountain of work, busy beyond belief. The mess left by the previous Finance Manager was extensive, and everyone in the finance department was already occupied. That was when she happened to see Chen Dong and, assuming he was an admin from some department, asked him to do a small task. Who would have thought he would actually dare to give her attitude? A fire ignited in her heart. ’I’ve been too lenient,’ she thought. ’I need to assert my authority in this new company. It’s the only way I’ll be able to manage my subordinates in the future.’

Since Chen Dong had run right into her line of fire, she would make an example out of him.

Holding the newly prepared financial report, she headed off to get Li Huiran’s approval, fully intending to file a complaint against Chen Dong.

Her high heels clicking all the way, she arrived at Li Huiran’s office. Seeing that the secretary, Xiaoyu, wasn’t at her desk, she pushed the door open and went straight in.

She was slightly surprised to see that the junior employee who had just infuriated her was also there.

When Li Huiran saw Xuan Kexin enter, she put down the contract she hadn’t had a chance to read yet and said with overflowing enthusiasm, ”Kexin, you’re here! Quick, have a seat. I’ll make you a cup of coffee.”

Chen Dong was taken aback. ’Interesting,’ he thought. ’A boss making coffee for a subordinate. No wonder this girl has such an ego.’

Xuan Kexin handed the financial report to Li Huiran. ”No need, I’m not here for coffee. These are the company’s financial statistics for the past few years. I recalculated everything. You should take a good look.”

As she spoke, she walked straight to the sofa and sat down, crossing her arms. She then crossed one silk-stocking-clad leg over the other, her high heel dangling in the air.

Li Huiran quickly scanned the report. Her elegant brow furrowed, and she said in a cold voice, ”The Lu Family actually embezzled this much!”

Xuan Kexin smiled faintly, a sly glint in her eye. She complained, ”You have no idea. Compiling all these financials in two days completely wore me out. And our dear Miss Li didn’t even assign me a secretary.”

Li Huiran nodded and stood up. ”You’re right, I should get you a secretary. Do you have any requirements? I can have HR recruit one for you. Or, if there’s anyone in the company you have your eye on, just tell me, and I’ll arrange it.” As she spoke, she walked over to Xuan Kexin and began massaging her shoulders.

A look of pure enjoyment on her face, Xuan Kexin said, ”Not bad, Miss Li! You’ve got some skills! I think he’s pretty good. Make him my secretary.” She pointed at Chen Dong.

Xuan Kexin had already thought it all through. ’This man dared to give me attitude? I’ll make him my secretary, make his life difficult every single day, force him to work endless overtime, and torture him to death!’

Li Huiran seemed to zone out for a moment. The pressure from her hands increased unnaturally as she quickly said, ”No, no, he won’t do! Anyone but him! Pick someone else!”

Xuan Kexin cried out in pain as her shoulder was squeezed. ”AH! You witch, are you trying to crush me?! Why won’t he do? It has to be him!”

Chen Dong was confused. ’What’s with this woman?’ he wondered. ’Does she have it in for me or something?’

With a look of pure arrogance, he walked over and sat right down in Li Huiran’s chair, throwing his legs straight onto the desk.

”Do I look like secretary material to you?”

’If we’re talking about acting high and mighty,’ Chen Dong thought, ’I’m way better at it than you are.’

Xuan Kexin was shocked. She knew Li Huiran. Not only was she a bit of a neat freak, but back in college, she had been completely uninterested in men. For this lowly deputy team leader to dare to sit in her chair, and to act so crudely on top of it… ’Looks like I won’t have to lift a finger,’ she thought. ’He’s about to get himself fired.’

But Xuan Kexin didn’t see the outburst she was expecting from Li Huiran. Instead, Li Huiran just said gently, ”Kexin, Chen Dong really isn’t secretary material. He doesn’t know how to do anything.”
