Reborn at Boot Camp: General, Don’t Mess Around!

Chapter 5499: Chapter 5499: Good News

How did he know? Simple, his brother worked on the same base as his future father-in-law, so he must have heard something, right?

Ye Jian hadn’t thought of that yet.

”Okay.” Ye Jian nodded in agreement, ”You still haven’t told me how you knew my father was coming back. Did you hide something from me? Did you tell my father ahead of time?”

Xia Jinyuan raised an eyebrow, ”You help me pick some clothes first. After we’re done, I’ll tell you.”

”No going back on your word!”

”I won’t go back on my word!”

Ye Jian thus didn’t continue to press further and went into the men’s clothing store. Suddenly, she experienced the feeling Xia Jinyuan had when he chose a bunch of clothes for her; her boyfriend looked good in anything, given his handsome looks and excellent physique.

Ye Jian picked several clothes for Xia Jinyuan to try on and waited on the couch when suddenly a call came from home.

”Girl, where are you now?” The old man’s cheerful voice came from the phone, indicating he was in a good mood, probably having had a delightful chat with Old Master Qin again.

Listening, Ye Jian felt good too and answered with a smile, ”Still out. Is there something at Grandpa’s house? Should I come back now?”

”No need, you and Little Six enjoy yourselves out there, no rush to come home. I just got a call from your dad, saying he can come back for the Spring Festival this year. It looks like our family can have a proper reunion dinner.”

”Your dad and your brother are both coming back; our family can really celebrate a reunion Spring Festival this year.” The old man’s words brimmed with joy, making Old Master Qin lying next to him unable to resist being happy for his old friend.

This old friend of his, who was a wealthy young master surrounded by many servants in his first twenty years, waited on hand and foot. But later, he suffered hardships he had never faced before until nearly his forties, despite having numerous children, in the end, he only had his son, Li Jinnian, by his side.

Fortunately, his old friend was open-minded and did not let the hardships crush him.

Now, all the bitter had turned sweet, truly bitter turned sweet.

The old man himself didn’t expect this Spring Festival; his granddaughter could take an extra ten days off to celebrate New Year at home, his son could also come back from the base, and his grandson Li Jinnian said he could come back too. Finally, this year’s New Year’s Eve dinner wouldn’t be spent alone.

Ha ha ha, ha ha ha, just thinking about it made him happy.

Although the old man usually didn’t say much and strongly supported the younger generation’s work, when every household was lit up and reunited during the year, even Uncle Fu would go back home, he felt quite uncomfortable being alone.

When others had their homes filled with family warmth, but his home was cold and empty, just him alone, he had tasted that feeling too much, and had grown accustomed to it over the years.

Although he knew his granddaughter and son were sacrificing their personal lives for the country and for everyone’s sake, being old, he inevitably became a bit selfish, also wishing to experience the joy of family like other elderly people, to live days surrounded by loving grandchildren.

”My dad is really coming back?! That’s really great!”

Xia Jinyuan, who had just come out of the changing room, happened to hear Ye Jian’s joyful words.

”Grandpa, this year both dad and I can accompany you for the Spring Festival.” She and Chief Engineer Fu had not seen each other for a long time, and a reunion Spring Festival was an extra special occasion for them. She hadn’t expected it this year, so the possibility of celebrating together made Ye Jian incredibly excited.

”Yes, we can all spend a wonderful New Year together. Your dad even has a seven-day holiday and will arrive home tomorrow afternoon.” The old man said cheerfully, ”Since you’re still out having fun, Grandpa won’t disturb you further, just don’t come back home too late.”
