Reborn at Boot Camp: General, Don’t Mess Around!

Chapter 5488: Chapter 5488: Winning Favor

”Buying it and not wearing it is such a waste!”

Ye Jian was thrifty. In her past life, because of her impoverished living conditions, she had to learn to be economical. In this life, although she never had to struggle for a living, she still didn’t become restless; she was still the true Ye Jian.

Whether in her past life or this one, Ye Jian never compared her living situation with others. Everyone has their own way of life and their own difficulties. What you see might only be the bright side of others, not their entirety.

Therefore, Ye Jian’s mindset has always been peaceful. No matter the level of poverty or wealth, no matter the quality of life, she has always been Ye Jian, always herself. She never changed and never bowed her head because of it.

She did have a stubborn streak that refused to give up. In her previous life, despite how tough things were, why wouldn’t Ye Ying let her off the hook? Perhaps it was Ye Jian’s stubbornness that made her afraid, that made her uneasy.

People only become fearful and anxious over gains and losses when they are afraid and uneasy. If you can rise steadily without fear of gain or loss, life will lay out a carpet of splendors for you. Even in poverty, you would feel content.

The Ye Jian of today was still the real Ye Jian, who didn’t forget her roots despite the change in her family’s circumstances.

Faced with Xia Jinyuan’s grand gestures, Ye Jian was happy, but she still considered practicality.

A pile of clothes, fancy but impractical, which she wouldn’t really wear very often. The clothes were indeed beautiful, but they were somewhat inconvenient for her activities.

But after all, it was a gift from her boyfriend. No matter how wasteful Ye Jian thought it was, she wouldn’t spoil the moment by criticizing this or that.

However, she still had to say what needed to be said.

”What’s gotten into you today? Why did you think of buying me so many clothes?” Ye Jian hooked Xia Jinyuan’s arm, her dark eyes looking up at him with a smile, then narrowed just slightly, her eyes brimming with affection as she gazed at her own boyfriend.

Today’s... Captain Xia was quite off, very off indeed.

”Isn’t there a ten-day holiday starting today? If you change outfits every day, it’s enough time.” Inspired, Xia Jinyuan deeply felt he hadn’t treated his girlfriend well enough and intended to make up for his neglect during this short holiday. This made Ye Jian feel that he was very different from usual.

Mainly, in the past, when they had days off, the two hadn’t had the chance to stroll so leisurely.

Probably because Old Master Li had fallen, the Li family was no longer a threat. Lacking this looming presence, the couple finally had the leisure to go out and wander.

”I just thought since we’re here, it’s rare for us both to shop together.” Xia Jinyuan coaxed, wanting so badly to buy all the nice things in the shop for Ye Jian. Perhaps feeling that he was acting out of character, Xia Jinyuan simply admitted honestly, ”Last night, I talked with my fifth brother for half the night, and I understood there are many ways to please a girlfriend.”

”I, having no experience, always thought that our current mode of dating had no issues. Of course, there aren’t any serious problems, but I need to treat you even better in our daily lives.”

”Later, when you return to the military unit, as long as we’re in the army, I am your Captain, not your boyfriend. I will treat everyone equally, not giving you special treatment because you’re my girlfriend.”

Drawing Ye Jian slowly into his arms, cradling her against his chest, he lowered his head and tenderly kissed the temple of Ye Jian’s head: ”Being so strict with you in the military, if I don’t treat you well in our personal lives as your boyfriend, then I would really become the heartless, black-hearted scoundrel my grandma talks about.”
