Death… And Me

Chapter 4051: Fairness!

”That idiot!” Hoblio couldn’t help but curse. ”There was no need to be that desperate!”

Rean glanced at Hoblio. He felt it before. ’There seems to be some special situation involving their sister.’ Rean didn’t make any comment, though. That was the Riquicious Empire’s problem.

The time ran out, and the collars that were thrown away disappeared.

On the other side, the collars that were put on immediately shone, quickly disappearing into the princesses’ bodies. Of course, they could have fought against it, and the collars would have failed. However, they knew they shouldn’t do anything at that moment. That collar was definitely going to connect with their Dantians/Cores and their Souls.

In the next few seconds, something that looked like an intricate colored tattoo appeared around their necks. Well, at least it was quite a beautiful one, seemingly matching each of their races specifically.

Many princesses began to make their way out of the center. Obviously, those were the ones who gave up. In the end, the majority of the princesses who only had Divinity Realm Experts as advisors decided it wasn’t worth the risk. Those like Xixie, who had only divinities and stayed, were less than 20% of the total now.

As for those who had at least one Semi-Celestial in their group, they all stayed. It had a lot to do with their honor. If they came out while they had Semi-Divinities as advisors, they would be throwing away not only their pride, but also lose their background’s face.

”Well... I failed to account for that,” Rean suddenly spoke.

”What? The collars?” Hoblio asked on the side.

Rean shook his head. ”No. Look at the remaining princesses. Before, there were a lot more of them with only Divinities as their advisors. Chances were that their advisors would be matched with other Divinities since the Divinities were the majority.”

”However, most of the princesses with only Divinities as advisors decided to give up. As you can see, now the number of Divinities and Semi-Celestials is quite similar. The only reason why there aren’t more Semi-Celestials is simply that a good part of the princesses with Semi-Celestials also had a Divinity in their group.”

Rean looked at Hoblio. ”It is quite likely that at least one of our guys will be paired with a Semi-Celestial.”

”Shit!” Only after Rean mentioned that did Hoblio notice it. ”Wait! Why do you look so calm? Xixie said if you see that you are in danger, you could give up. However, Kentucky can’t leave the fighting zone anymore. He will either die or kill his opponent, and that’s because she decided to put on the collar. Shouldn’t you be more worried or angry with my sister?”

”Ah!” Rean couldn’t help but laugh. ”That’s right! Kentucky is stuck there, isn’t he? Hahahaha!” Of course, only Rean and Kentucky knew that he wasn’t really imprisoned.

Hoblio didn’t know that. ”Do you perhaps hate your friend?”

”Hum?” Rean finally stopped laughing. ”Hate him? How could I? He isn’t just a friend. For me, Kentucky is family! Anyway, you should worry more about Derfiu. That prince is about to tell the advisors everything that just happened.”

Sure enough, Zanbril took out his CD, intending to contact the advisors. However, one of the princesses who stayed spoke. ”Zanbril, you didn’t force us to take this bet, but is it okay for only us to bet our lives like this? What about you? How can you expect your future wife to be loyal after this kind of action?”

Some looked at the princess, shaking their heads. He was from the Zentian Empire, so he had the background to do whatever he liked. That princess was too naive.

However, the truly surprising thing was what Zanbril did next. He pulled the collar of his robe down, revealing his own neck. There, you could see another one of those intricate tattoos! ”Who said I’m not betting my life?”

”What?!” Everyone looked at that, shocked!

Zanbril pulled the collar of his clothes back up, smiling. Then, another one of those collars that the princesses took appeared on his hand... No, this one was slightly different. It seemed to be a lot more complicated, with much more complex inscriptions and runes. ”My wife-to-be will share this collar with me. If she dies, I die. If I die, she dies. When I said I wanted to find someone to stand side by side with me, I meant it! Different from the collars that you got, which can be removed later, the one I used and this one in my hand can’t. We will be forever linked.”

Was that the truth? Why would Zanbril take such a risk? However, they soon came to understand that Zanbril was just that weird. If he weren’t, he wouldn’t have come up with this kind of event in the first place.

”I... I see...” The princess who complained could only shut her mouth. If that isn’t a life commitment to his wife, then she didn’t know what could possibly be. Of course, that’s considering Zanbril’s words were genuine. No one could confirm that.

Well, Rean could... ’He is dead serious!’

’Really?’ Kentucky asked. He was being told everything that was happening. ’I’m liking this prince more and more.’

’Indeed. I don’t think I would go that far for someone I didn’t even know until a few minutes ago,’ Rean commented. ’Of course, that doesn’t include my daughter. I definitely would go that far and beyond before she was even out of the womb, let alone meet her. But that is not the case here. He is doing it for a stranger.’

Things changed in the fighting zones, too. When they first arrived there, a barrier separated them from their opponents, but at least they could see who they would fight. However, this time, after everyone had been randomly teleported again, the barrier made it impossible to determine who was on the other side!

As for the experts of the princesses who gave up, they were sent back to the main hall, looking confused. Only then were they told what happened, sighing in relief that their princesses didn’t take that bet.

Finally, Zanbril returned his attention to his CD, now telling all the advisors about the changes in the rules.

What else could you expect? Countless curses began to come out of those advisors’ mouths. They didn’t sign up for this. That was especially so for those in the Divinity Realm.

Yet, no one could have expected what Zanbril said next!

”Are you angry? Of course, you are! I would be too! Hahaha! Don’t worry, though. I still have one more thing to say! Just like I didn’t tell you about these changes in the rules, there was also a rule I didn’t tell the princesses who took the collars!”

All the princesses froze at that moment. What else could he have planned?

Zanbril continued. ”Those princesses basically decided of their own volition to risk not only their lives, but also yours! They did it without your consent! Since that is the case, it is only fair that you can do the same, don’t you think? Before the fights start, anyone who wishes to give up and leave can say so now. I will teleport you out straight away, no questions asked.”

”HOWEVER!”

He paused a second and smiled. ”The collars will take it as if you died. That means if one of you leaves, your princess will receive massive damage to her cultivation, possibly having to start to cultivate again from zero as a result. If both advisors leave, then your princess will die right there and then! See? Fairness!”

Both the Main Hall and the fighting zones went silent. Zanbril is truly crazy!
