Death… And Me

Chapter 3836: Ralaxing Time

The Level Four Umbra checked the now-empty core, and after confirming it was useless, he broke completely. ”Hehe! So the core is gone, uh? All those memories were of some use, after all.”

As mentioned, an Umbra is made of emotions and fragmented memories, and this one carried memories related to the core. That’s why he could confirm that it was indeed the core. For the Umbra, nothing could be better. ”Now then, I need to move before the Werdlem Empire sends anyone capable of fighting me.”

---

Somewhere else, the twins’ group gathered inside the Celestial Soul Dimensional Realm.

”So that’s what happened...” Celis sighed after hearing the whole tale. ”To think the Corrupted System could even block our own system while inside its Dimensional Realm.”

Zangeshu wasn’t surprised at all. ”While inside someone’s Pocket Dimensional Realm, you are under their full control. Why would it be different with us or the Celestial Soul System? It’s good enough they managed to absorb it in the end.”

Rean shrugged. ”We were also lucky that the Corrupted System’s Sentience was there to give a little bit of our powers back. Well, he wanted to take our system over, though.”

Roan wasn’t interested in any of that. ”Seems like it has started again. At least we don’t need to hear the idiot orb while it.”

Everyone turned in the Control Orb direction, which was shining with Light and Black lights. Sister Orb was once again suppressed, and that only happened while the system was going through a transformation.

Of course, they all expected that. The quest made it very clear. They had to acquire a different system if they wanted their own Celestial Soul System to gain any new abilities. They just got the Emotional System, so their own system was changing as a result. They even wondered if the new upgrades and skills of the system would have something to do with emotions.

Rean and Roan only had to will it, and they could see a countdown in their minds.

[347:12:57...]

”Over three hundred hours, uh?” Rean lay down on his back, his arms on the back of his head. ”Guess we can have some time off, then.”

Foliana couldn’t help but ask. ”But... is it really okay? I mean, there are mindless Umbras escaping their prison everywhere. How many innocent lives aren’t they taking? No, it would be better to say they are going to take over various bodies and minds, isn’t it?”

Roan had no intention to do anything. ”First of all, the amount of help we could offer would be so minuscule that we wouldn’t make any difference. Second, there was no other way around. To free the Umbras and stop the living beings from being manipulated, we had to get rid of the core. This is a price this Universe will have to pay for D33 to get back to normal.”

Tanxan could see how things would play out. ”The Werdlem Empire will likely use this Universe’s Great Void Shifter and send help to deal with the Umbras. But, above all, they will come here to look for a way to bring this Universe back to its previous state. This kind of lab is important to that extent. Well, it will be meaningless since the Corrupted System doesn’t exist anymore.”

Kentucky wasn’t as relaxed. ”That also means they will come look for us now. Isn’t that bad?”

”Look for us?” Rean shook his head in response. ”And who is ’us’? In every event we made an appearance, we had different auras, faces, bodies, and above all, Werdlem Energy Signatures. Unless they find somehow that we can change our Werdlem Stones Signatures, they will be pursuing their own tails. The Werdlem Empire believes way too much that its Werdlem System is impenetrable. They will look for our fake selves until the end of time.”

Roan had considered it all, adding another point. ”Also, we have received Victor’s help. Doesn’t matter who looks at us, we will be seen as beings that were born in the Werdlem Empire.” Roan was obviously talking about that expert they met back in the Golden Palace. Back then, it was very obvious to Victor that the twins’ group came from outside the Empire, so he gave them a hand to prevent that from happening in front of anyone else.

”Anyway,” Rean continued. ”Until our system finishes its own upgrade, we won’t be able to leave this Universe. Let’s stay hidden and let the things outside play out as they will. We need the system to use the Abyssal Paths, after all.”

Everyone agreed, and during the next days, they didn’t come out.

---

While the twins’ group waited, things outside went crazy. As they had predicted, the Werdlem Empire was immediately contacted by the Semi-Celestials, who said Kunprio had been killed.

However, the twins’ group didn’t know about the Level Four Umbra. They left before they could have met the guy.

The Level Four Umbra didn’t just lie down and wait for the Werdlem Empire to send some other Celestial Realm Expert. That said, he made his move, destroying the Great Void Shifter Formation in D33, preventing any help from arriving straight away.

After that... he disappeared.

The Light of the Provider Religion asked the Werdlem Empire what to do, and they were given the blueprints necessary to fix at least one of the older and inactive Great Void Shifters. But even so, that would probably take weeks, and that’s because many High Level Formations Masters joined hands to work on that. They didn’t have Rean’s System to help with all the most time-consuming processing power, after all.

Those who were not helping with fixing the formation or protecting it were sent everywhere in the Universe to help kill the Mindless Umbras.

Even if the Corrupted System wasn’t there to purge all bad emotions anymore, it wasn’t like everyone would wake up in an instant. It would take a considerable amount of time, likely several years. Those thoughts and emotions would need to accumulate, and slowly, doubts would appear in everyone’s minds.

At least for the moment, the Light of the Provider still had a firm grasp over the Universe. Thus, they issued a Universal Order to all experts capable of fighting, instructing them to destroy the Umbras. The Light of the Provider gave them whatever excuses while they were still at work.

This was truly a difficult situation for the Empire. After all... Umbras had no need for Werdlem Stones, so it was impossible to block their powers!
