Death… And Me

Chapter 3678: So Round...

’Hum?’ Kentucky found a difference. ’But that thing is shaped like an egg, and the Control Orb is spherical. Are you sure they are the same?’

[It matters not. Why exactly can’t the Universe Root Egg be shaped like a truck instead? There isn’t really a norm for the shape of the Root Egg, is there? Well, this is only the second time I’m seeing one other than the Control Orb. I’m still certain the Control Orb and the Root Egg are the same thing. Rean, Roan, don’t forget! You two are Universe Owners! Why? Because the system was made with a Universe Root Egg! ...although I’m still not used to this name.]

’And what makes you certain it has a sentience?’ Rean asked as well.

[Because Victor said it would select its owner. If this is truly a Control Orb, it has no feeling, no interests, no nothing. Only if it has a sentience, like me, will it select anything.]

Sister Orb talked to Rifindio next through the twins. [Alright, go ahead and have a good conversation with it.]

Rifindio scratched the back of his head. Was this really supposed to be this strange? All the experts around were dead serious, discussing many methods, trying many things. Should he just get there and... talk to it? ’It feels kinda embarrassing.’

’Really? Then let me do it!’ Kentucky immediately stepped forward. Shame? It didn’t exist in his dictionary.

*Pah!*

*Ouch...*

Yet, Roan slapped the back of Kentucky’s head. ’What’s the point of you being accepted by the egg, idiot? You will be stuck in F956 and won’t be able to go look for your parents. Is that what you want?’

’Oh...’ Kentucky rubbed the back of his head. ’I guess that’s true.’

Then, Roan glared at Rifindio. ’Don’t waste our time. Just talk to it already.’

Rifindio swallowed hard, but before talking to the egg, he spoke a little with Sister Orb. ’So... what do you think I should tell it? Perhaps you have similar... tastes?’

[Well asked! Now, listen carefully!]

A few minutes later, Rifindio came forward, stopping just before entering the egg’s attack range.

”Ahem... you are such... a round, smooth, exquisite egg. Look at your shell... It shines with the colors of the Universe... Whoever gains your grace is sure to become very happy. Oh, so powerful and beautiful Universe Root Egg, may I know how I should address such a perfect creation?”

Everyone looked at Rifindio, not knowing what to say. They had very interesting expressions. Rifindio sure can’t be right... right? Some even had to hold their laugh, others just shook their heads. Mockery was also present.

Far above, Victor showed a faint smile. ’Just words won’t be enough, kid,’ he thought. But then...

*Zush!*

*Bang!*

Suddenly, the egg shot into Rifindio’s arms, its shell now shining even more colorful. Rifindio had to do his best to not be thrown too far while holding it; he even received some internal damage. Then, a voice echoed from the egg. ”I like you! I’m Nyanta!”

Before anyone could make any sense of the situation, the egg seemed to become ethereal, quickly entering Rifindio’s body. Just like that, the Universe Root Egg was gone!𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦

Rean couldn’t help but nod. ’Sure enough, the same kind of compliments Sister Orb loves, so does the Sentience inside the Universe Root Egg.’

”This is bullshit!” Once again, the angel snapped out! ”Compliments?! What the freaking egg wanted was compliments?!”

*Bang!*

Yet, he didn’t manage to complain for long. His body was sudden struck by a powerful energy, and he was sent flying, several of his bones breaking in an instant!

”You got an extra chance, and you lost anyway,” Victor, the kid, spoke again. ”I won’t allow anyone to complain anymore. The Universe Root Egg selected Rifindio, it’s that simple. I didn’t tell anyone about the egg, power didn’t matter, laws didn’t matter, age didn’t matter, experience didn’t matter. This was as fair as it could be, and yet, none of you considered the possibility of the egg having its own emotions. I even gave you a clue at the very start.”

”You did?” Someone asked, puzzled.

Victor glared at him, and the guy instantly went quiet.

”The egg will select its owner. That was the clue. Am I right?” Rifindio spoke, walking back. Rean helped him heal the injures caused by the egg’s impact.

Rifindio could feel it even though he didn’t have access to his pocket dimensional realm. The egg was there, right in the center. But, at the same time, he could feel a connection between the egg and every cell of his body. Could it be that that’s how Rean and Roan felt with their Control Orb?

Victor nodded. ”Yes, that was the clue. It was so simple, but at the same time, very difficulty. Let me make one thing clear. Just praising the egg wasn’t enough. What mattered the most was your intentions. If you held ill will or only thought of it as a tool to become a Universe Owner, it would never select you. It wouldn’t show the least bit of reaction. I sincerely didn’t expect someone to be accepted by it at all since someone like that is hard to come by.”

Rifindio knew that. When Sister Orb was explaining to him what to tell the egg, she also mentioned that he must not see it as an item, but as a partner, someone he would share the rest of his life with. If not, the egg wouldn’t answer. She was certain of it.

Rifindio obviously had his own experience with Sister Orb, and if he were asked, he would say that he considers Sister Orb a friend. It wasn’t a lie. She did a lot for him during all these years as well. He didn’t see Sister Orb as a tool, and he carried that feeling when he talked to the Universe Root Egg. Thus, the egg felt his real sentiments, and didn’t think twice to choose him. It wouldn’t become a system like the twins and Sister Orb, but it sure would help him tremendously in the future.
