Death… And Me

Chapter 3669: Decide If This Is The Future You Want

Plaything...? That plaything? Everyone’s eyes turned in Rifindio’s direction.

Rifindio almost vomited blood! ”Not that kind of plaything!!!”

Triaglia’s fellow brothers and sisters on both her sides all looked at her with even weirder expressions.

”So that’s why you chose him, uh?” The wolfman spoke, mockery on his face. How could he lose that opportunity?

Triaglia’s mouth twitched. This wasn’t the kind of reaction she was expecting. Such an important moment, everyone gathered, and suddenly, Rifindio became the center of attention. Shouldn’t everyone be paying attention the the Universe Owners, the Celestial Realm Experts themselves? Even worse, the other Universe owners now began to have the wrong idea.

”Ahem...” Triaglia cleared her throat. ”Everyone, silence!”

Only then did everyone remember they were still in the presence of the Uniese Owners. They looked away from Rifindio, paying their respects.

”Hey, you!” Zick’s voice reached Rifindio. ”Kneel, idiot! That’s our Universe Owner!”

”Ah!” Rifindio finally woke up, kneeling in the next second. Standing up was a huge lack of respect towards their Universe Owner. As for the things related to Rafa and such, he would have to wait for another opportunity to inquire... if that ever appeared.

Rifindio then glanced at the twins’ group, especially Roan. Not kneeling was indeed a lack of respect worth the death penalty. But would Roan kneel? He simply couldn’t see Roan doing such a- ”Eh?!”

Yet, to his surprise, Roan was kneeling perfectly, and so were Rean, Kentucky, and Celis. They all showed the proper respect.

Roan glanced at him, knowing what he was thinking. ’What?’ Roan’s Divine Sense Message went out.

Rifindio swallowed hard. ’It’s just that I didn’t think you would do it...’

Roan snorted in disdain. ’What? Kneel? Do you think I give a damn to these kinds of bullshit? If kneeling can help me avoid trouble, I will kneel until the end of time. To me, such actions carry absolutely no meaning whatsoever. And it is exactly because they carry no meaning that I can do it anytime... as long as it is beneficial to me.’

’Oh...’ Rifindio nodded.

Seeing that the commotion stopped, the Universe Owners also went silent. They weren’t the ones who would talk.

*Bzzzz!*

The bigger altar, the one in the middle, then lit up as well. All the Universe Owners bowed in that altar’s direction, the overwhelming aura making it obvious who was about to appear.

The experts below felt suffocated, including the twins’ group. They had never felt such pressure and dread. Even the Celestial Realm expert from Garisan wouldn’t hold a candle to what they were feeling now.

”Well, would you look at that! In the end, only three of them made it this far, and one of them wasn’t even chosen from the start.”

The voice echoed, and the pressure disappeared. That allowed everyone to look up, seeing a kid sitting by the border of the big altar in a leisure manner. They couldn’t feel anything from the kid. They couldn’t tell his cultivation either. Their Divine Senses actually couldn’t see anything at all, even though he was there.

”Welcome back, Master,” said all Universe Owners.

Master? Everyone felt like they had misheard it. Did all seven Universe Owners call the kid Master?𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ𝓋𝑒𝑙.𝑐𝘰𝑚

The kid smiled. ”Let’s see... What’s the name of the three chosen?”

”Reporting to master,” Fortune Romuteri spoke first. ”From my Romuteri Clan, that is Futsuka Romuteri, my chosen. The turtle from my Universe is called Gamera. I wasn’t expecting him to manage to acquire one of the marks.”

The F951 Universe Owner, the same Universe as the Angel, spoke next. ”That one there is called Fishel. He did as I expected, and even managed to acquire an extra mark, master.”

”Fishel?!” All the angels looked at him. Wasn’t his name Galatia? Fishel had reportedly died. How can he be Fishel? ”Are you truly...”

Fishel sighed. He truly didn’t want his real identity to be found, as it would hinder his plans. Yet, it was obvious he couldn’t hide it from the owner of his Universe. Soon, his appearance and even aura changed, returning to his original form. ”I even paid such a big price to pretend to be dead... So much for all my hard work...” he murmured, disappointed.

The kid nodded, looking at Rifindio last. He knew Rifindio. He had met him back when Rifindio was taken by the Cocooms. Nonetheless, Triaglia didn’t know that, so he let Triaglia speak first.

”Master, that is my chosen, and his name is Rifindio,” Triaglia said. ”He did not exceed my expectations. Having four marks is just about what I thought he would manage, considering who he came with.”

The kid agreed with her, landing his eyes on Rean, Roan, Kentucky, and Celis. ”Indeed. He was very lucky to get those four to help him. Even more impressive, he did it without knowing anything about being a chosen one. You could say he has an interesting destiny.”

Roan and the others heard that and felt a chill on their backs. That kid spoke as if he knew who they were, where they came from. Nonetheless, they didn’t talk back to him, and the kid didn’t seem to want to talk to them either. Just the fact that the kid didn’t want to kill them was already very good.

*Clap!*

”Very well. Now, let’s continue with the selection of the new mantle holder,” the kid spoke after clapping his hands. ”You can all rise. No need for all these formalities now.”

The thousands of experts got up, although they didn’t dare to look directly at the kid’s eyes.

”The story you all know is that this Palace can give you a chance to become a Celestial Realm Expert. That is correct. Not only can you become a Celestial Realm Expert, but you will also take over the Universe you came from as its new owner,” the kid explained.

Everyone took a deep breathe. They hadn’t heard about it.

”It’s normal that you didn’t know, since those who fail will have their memories wiped out anyway. This information will not leave this place,” the kid continued, and no one doubted he could do what he just said.

”But first, let me tell you one thing. The kind of Celestial Realm Expert you will become is different from a real Celestial Realm Expert. Don’t get me wrong. You will get all the perks. The strength, the authority, the resources, and everything else. However...” He stopped for a moment before continuing, increasing the suspense. ”You will be locked inside your Universe, and you will never be able to go out while you are the Universe Owner. I’ll give you all a minute. Decide if this is what you wish for your future.”
