Death… And Me

Chapter 3656: Can You Use It?

Back where the various Universe owners were gathered, another altar had lost its Oil Drop projection. That was the Altar that represented the Universe F955. Its Universe owner seemed somewhat lifeless at the moment, but he wasn’t dead. He was just disappointed his own chosen had died so fast. Still, he had to wait here until only one chosen remained.

He then glanced at the altar of the Universe F949 and sighed. At the very least, he didn’t end up like the Hibiscus, who broke the rules and was killed by their master. He could try again next time.

*Crack...*

Suddenly, the projection of another altar reacted. Everyone looked over, and they saw the projection of the Universe F953 Altar, the Gear, cracking.

”NO!” Its Universe owner, the leader of the Mouth of the Beast Demon Beast Organization, screamed with a contorted expression.

Finally, the Gear projection completely broke, and his altar lost all energy, just like the F949 and F955 one did before. What did that mean? That meant his chosen had died, or, at the very least, his chosen’s special mark had been stolen from him.

The Universe Owner from F955 shrugged. ”Welcome to the club.”

”Shut up!” The guy retorted. Well, neither of them was afraid of the other anyway.

With that, three of the eight altars had lost their projections. The Oil Drop, the Gear, and the Forge. There were still five altars, and only one of them would remain.

Triaglia and the others who still had chosen ones alive couldn’t help but wonder which one of them had acquired the marks. Maybe someone got more than one mark, but chances were that each mark was obtained by a different chosen. If they just knew who actually got all three...

Back at the twins’ group location...

Citchi quickly took out a pill from her spatial ring, forcing it down Pardikan’s throat. The wounds on Pardikan began to close ever so slightly, and the bleeding stopped after a while. His complexion also recovered a bit. It would take quite some time for him to heal, but he was lucky. Had Rifindio comprehended the Major Laws of Blood, he definitely would have died there.

Citchi sighed in relief, joining back with her companions. They didn’t leave straight away, though. What just happened was too weird, and the twins’ group was obviously in the same boat. ”Was this something related to this Chosen thing?”

Roan nodded slightly. ”That’s what we think. Our companion would never make a move without telling us in advance, and I don’t think your friend there told you about his intentions to attack either.”

Citchi confirmed. ”Yes, he said nothing. I checked his soul just now. You were right. He wasn’t awake, and it wasn’t just because you knocked him out. What exactly took control over them?”

Rean patted Rifindio’s shoulder and used his Instant Recover skill to heal him. Soon, Rifindio’s body was back to normal, much to Citchi’s group’s surprise.

’That’s a hell of a powerful healing skill...’ they all thought.

Rean continued. ”It was probably something they always had, I think. As for the trigger...” He looked at Rifindio and Pardikan.

Citch, Crohei, and the others understood his meaning. ”It was because they both refused to fight each other.”

”Exactly,” Roan thought the same. ”Until the moment both of them made up their minds that no battle would take place, they were still themselves. Perhaps it goes against whatever rules manage this chosen process.”

Roan and the others were right. The same marks that made them the chosen ones were also what pushed forward that urge to kill the other side. It was capable of controlling their bodies and use every single iota of their host’s power, including laws. It was as if the marks wanted to absorb the other at all costs.

*Ugh...!*

Rifindio put a hand on his head, feeling a huge headache. ”Just now, I...”fre\e(w)ebn ov.e l\. co.m

Rean smiled. ”Seems like you are back to yourself.”

Rifindio was sleeping, and yet, he remembered everything he had just done. ”It... It was weird. I lost control of myself and couldn’t think of anything else other than taking the enemy’s special power, those marks. I really didn’t move on purpose; it was stronger than me.”

Seeing that Rifindio had recovered his control, Rean removed the seal Roan had put in his cultivation and core. After all, if Rifindio got up and decided to attack again, it would be annoying to stop him.

”Crohei,” Citchi looked at her companion, who nodded.

From Crohei’s sleeve, a tiny white insect crawled out. He left the insect on Pardikan’s face, which used Pardikan’s ears to enter.

Rean, Roan, Celis, and Kentucky had their Divine Senses on Pardikan, feeling quite perplexed with their actions. Yet, they soon saw with their Divine Senses how that insect suddenly burst, releasing some liquid that was quickly absorbed by Pardikan’s brain and soul.

*Arrrghh...*

Pardikan jolted awake. ”Fuck, Crohei! I told you to not use that shit!” He cursed while holding his head with both hands. It was almost as bad as what Roan did, but it didn’t last just a second. It was still hurting.

”Hmph!” Crohei snorted. ”What did you want, sleep forever? It hurts, but it will heal almost any soul damage you might have acquired.”

Pardikan got up, still wobbling around. Just like Rifindio, his cultivation was also sealed, but Citchi removed it. He also remembered everything that happened. ”Does that mean we must fight to the death if we don’t want to lose our heads again?”

”No, wait!” It was then that Pardikan noticed something. He couldn’t feel Rifindio anymore! Not only that, but he also couldn’t feel the special powers inside his chest light, neither his Universe’s nor the Universe F955’s. ”It’s gone!”

He looked at Rifindio. ”You...”

Rifindio bitterly smiled. Yes, he also noticed. ”You are right, I took it... But it wasn’t me. No, it was me, but it wasn’t me.”

Rean and the others got curious. ”What? You stole his marks? How? We didn’t see all that light show from before. You didn’t kill him either.”

Back when Rifindio acquired the Forge Mark, the chest lights came out of their owner’s chests and made quite a show in the air before they returned to Rifindio’s chest. No such thing happened now.

”It...” Rifindio swapped to Divine Sense from there. ’It was the Celestial Laws of Blood in my teeth. Better than saying I stole his mark, I sucked it out of him...’

The twins’ group was taken aback. ’Wait, you can use your Celestial Laws?!’
