The Fierce Farm Girl Has A Secret Space

Chapter 2718: Chapter 2718: Engagement (1)

Thinking of their eldest grandson, any dissatisfaction in Hao Lai and his wife’s hearts instantly evaporated. Hao Lai’s mouth even unconsciously curved up, and his legs shook twice.

If Wen from the Hao Family hadn’t a bit of self-control to quickly notice the man’s unusual behavior beside her and secretly poked him, this old man would probably have laughed out loud, which would be quite embarrassing.

Even Master Hao realized he was out of line, hurriedly coughed and then sat up with a serious posture, looking all proper.

Peng Cheng was quite astute, able to see through Hao Lai’s smugness. Although he didn’t completely understand why he was feeling smug, he faintly felt it might not be that simple and couldn’t help but smile: ”Master Hao, although marriages are decided by parents and matchmakers, my daughter Mingzi is a girl with her own mind. This matter still needs discussion with her.”

Hao Lai naturally wouldn’t refuse: ”That’s proper, after all, it’s Miss Peng getting married. It certainly has to be her own will for it to be harmonious.”

Peng Cheng naturally couldn’t go, so he glanced at his wife, young Jia.

Young Jia smiled apologetically, then stood up and went to the back hall, knowing full well it was simply a formality.

”Dear daughter, are you really sure you want to marry Hao Jian?” Young Jia felt it necessary to confirm one last time.

”Mother, as of now, marrying him is the most appropriate choice,” Peng Mingzi smiled, ”Aside from his affection towards me, there’s his relationship with Yang Ruxin. Given Yang Ruxin’s protective nature, as long as I don’t overstep, she’ll support me, allowing me to protect Auntie.”

”You’ve really been through a lot.” Young Jia sighed, patting her daughter’s arm with heartache.

Peng Mingzi knew her mother misunderstood but didn’t explain, letting her continue with the misunderstanding. Sometimes a bit of guilt prevents taking everything for granted.

In the front hall, Peng Cheng couldn’t remain silent for too long, as that’d be impolite, so he proactively brought up the topic of medicinal liquor.

However, Hao Lai, having developed the Hao Family without strong backers, was shrewd. He just talked about whatever the other party brought up. Although it seemed like a heated conversation, upon further reflection, nothing of importance was actually said, leaving Peng Cheng inwardly cursing the old fox.

Just then, young Jia returned, and everyone’s eyes turned to her.

”Mingzi doesn’t want us to be anxious, so she’s letting her parents decide,” young Jia said, though she wouldn’t say her daughter was willing.

”That’s proper,” Wen from the Hao Family nodded, ”Since ancient times, marriages are parental orders and matchmaker’s words, she’s a good child.”

Peng Cheng secretly let out a breath of relief and nodded, ”Our two families are indeed destined.” This was an agreement.

Next was discussing various auspicious dates, as both families were considered notable, so the children’s marriage couldn’t be handled carelessly. But since Peng Mingzi was getting older, the wedding had to be arranged sooner.

Peng Cheng didn’t dare be too careless, and remained very proactive in the following arrangements.

Indeed, the marriage between Peng Mingzi and Hao Jian made many reconsider. Some felt regret or frustration; at first glance, it seemed the Hao Family was reaching up to the Peng Family, but upon closer thought, it wasn’t quite the case, as the Hao Family had Gu Qingheng and Yang Ruxin behind them. Hao Jian may no longer be an option, but there’s still Qin Da Shao without a match.
