The Fierce Farm Girl Has A Secret Space

Chapter 2709: Chapter 2709: On the Brink of Collapse (2)

Shen Wanyin, after walking for half a day, finally came and sat down. Lately, he felt as if he had aged ten years.

Once, Baiwei Restaurant would not only rake in money daily, but also draw wealth from all directions. Now it’s so deserted, it’s about to close. Once, mentioning the Shen Family would incite a respectful demeanor from everyone. Even in Beijing, the Shen Family could squeeze into the ranks of noble clans. Once...

But now, his youngest son is worse than dead, his two fair daughters have nearly become invalids. Most critically, although his elder brother still bears the title of Minister of Revenue, he has become useless. What worries him more is that the Emperor seems to have learned some things the Shen Family did in the past. A few days ago, he even reprimanded his elder brother for a previous incident.

Fortunately, it was just a couple of not-so-serious matters. If other matters were to be exposed, not just his elder brother, but the entire clan might be exterminated.

But if they can uncover those two matters, can’t they uncover the rest?

The more he thinks, the more frightened Shen Wanyin becomes. What can he do?

But when did this string of bad luck begin?

It started when Yang Ruxin tried to promote that Divine Sauce at Baiwei Restaurant and was rejected; then their family began to decline, and that wench started rising step by step.

He’s tried countless ways to bring her down, but not a single one succeeded.

This time clearly failed too, so... maybe directly killing her would be better?

Thinking this, Shen Wanyin’s face grew completely somber. Perhaps his initial thought was wrong; instead of trying to bring her down, it seems easier to finish her off once and for all. He then got up and walked out.

”Where are you going?” Shen Jiashi couldn’t help but ask.

”Don’t worry about it.” Shen Wanyin walked away without turning his head.

Shen Jiashi frowned, sat there silently for a moment, then got up and returned to her room, picked up a pen, and wrote a letter, attaching a Jade Pendant with it and handing it to her trusted maid: ”Go to the Peng Family in the prefectural city, make sure to deliver this to Madam Peng.”

The maid nodded: ”I understand, madam.”

After the maid left, Shen Jiashi finally breathed a sigh of relief. She had no choice but to prepare. In case the Shen Family falls, she didn’t want to fall with them, so she needed help from her sister, Xiao Jiashi.

Xiao Jiashi is married to Peng Cheng, the eldest son of the Peng Family’s main branch, and now he’s head of the Peng Family. Though the Peng Family deals in jade, their connections are quite extensive. If she could reach out, at least she wouldn’t be so miserable when the time comes.

At this moment, Shen Jiashi was immensely grateful that she maintained a good relationship with her sister during their time in the boudoir; otherwise, she might not be able to bring herself to ask for help.

Peng Family in the prefectural city.

After dinner, Peng Cheng didn’t go to the concubine’s room, but stayed in the main chamber.

Xiao Jiashi poured the tea herself and placed it on the table: ”Does the master have something to discuss with me?”

Peng Cheng nodded: ”You’re in the inner quarters, so perhaps you’re not too aware of the court affairs outside, but you need to know—the Shen Family is likely going to fall.”

”Yes.” Xiao Jiashi wasn’t surprised at all. ”I know.”

”You know?” Peng Cheng was rather surprised.

”Mingzi mentioned it to me earlier.” Xiao Jiashi sighed, ”The Shen Family is too arrogant and disdainful of others. Naturally, they were bound to meet misfortune sooner or later. I didn’t expect it so soon.”
